It was absolutely delightful to sit and speak once more with Alaric. With His Majesty Alaric Grayson rather. He was only newly crowned King when I first met him, and has been family to me for so long I must remind myself not to hug him in public or tell off-color jokes. That is for private conversations.
I am still so very grateful for all that he has done for me and mine. Why we even discussed the possibility of a post as lady-in-waiting to his wife, Queen Symonesse, who I am simply /dying/ of curiosity to know everything about. I would never tell him this in person, and only write it here because I am sure he does not have the time to page through all the whites. But between you and I, Scholar (and everyone who /does/ have the time to flip through the whites of strangers, which I do not judge in the least, enjoying the same myself) Between you and I and they: King Alaric sounds almost like a smitten schoolboy when speaking of Queen Symonesse. It's lovely, I'm so pleased that he found happiness in a political arrangement that may well have brought pure misery. He deserves nothing less, and I of course, deserve to be in her company often myself, as a lady-in-waiting ought.
Let us hope that far bigger things do not distract my brother-in-law from making good on his promise to mention it. I realize that life as we know it might well be on the brink of destruction, but that does not change my desire to braid the queen's hair on occasion.

I don't often write in the whites. I prefer to keep my thoughts my own. It seems dutiful though to attempt it once in a while, as Vellichor has determined we ought.
I attended a rather unusual religious event today. It was held by the Archlector of the Queen of Endings. Not a Goddess I know terribly much about as so much is recent knowledge. It was mildly embarrassing to be so ignorant, as well as to realize there is published doctrine I might have read through beforehand and therefore avoided asking simple questions.
Archlector Aureth is an extremely gifted speaker. He managed to use something as ridiculous on the surface as holding a funeral for a dead bug (Spider, sorry, a dead spider, I'll work on that. I'm sure I have more questions, dozens at least, but imagined that while making a first impression on such a large group, many who appeared deeply devoted to the Goddess invoked, it may be better to wait. Allow them to ask the thoughtful queries they surely had, and not dominate the conversation with my simplistic ones that I could easily find in this text.
There were other interesting people present, I found myself particular intrigued by the Duchess Dafne Zaffria. Her appearance is quite striking, something different but not separate from beauty. The way she spoke I wondered if she too had heard the call of the Queen of Endings, but I imagined that it was not the best time to ask.
I have thus far enjoyed being in Arx. There is much yet to learn, and people to connect with, but there is also time.

It makes me feel better to know I am not the only one that has entertained that thought. For what it is worth in the Oathlands we try to label things more accurately as 'rebated' weapons. Injuries can and do happen. A blunted piece of metal can still hurt you very badly.
When accidents happen it is generally because someone is so determined on victory that the throw away restraint during drill. It's a phenomenon we sometimes call 'Going ham.' Named so because when someone becomes so violent in drill they often take on the crazed look that only an Oathlander can have when you are between them and a Winter's Feast Ham.

I've been rather lax in writing things recently, not because there hasn't been anything worth writing. In fact, just the opposite of that. I've had so many different things that might be worth writing about that I'm not entirely sure where to start. Some things I'm sure really don't need to be remembered forever, at least not by anyone but me.
Do I dare to write those down? To fill the pages with nonsense just to hear myself talk.
Of course I do.
I shall start with....what I have observed. The city is always active, even in the usually quiet hours of the evenings and nights I have found that there is always somewhere to go. Someone new to meet, or old friends to see again. No more having to pace endlessly in the confines of my rooms, dying for things to do when I just can't sleep in the early hours of the morning.
There are also strange things that happen, such as the incident with the fire the other day. Of course, there are also other peoples journals to read, which oftentimes I find provides much thought, and more questions.
As for me? I've met new people, of course. Always new people. Dashing knights and song singers, gorgeous ladies in their fine dresses. It's enough to have one dizzy from it all.
Another new discovery...bruises are sometimes tingly and ...something else. I can't remember what the other was. I think I may have that head injury afterall. I'll just have to find something to keep me awake just in case. Whatever will I find.

It's so odd when a thing is both natural and super-natural at the same time.

Found an...interesting note in the training center.
There are plenty of weapons that can be used non-lethally, if you're careful and lucky.
There's no such thing as a non-lethal weapon. I've killed people with sticks, well cared for and not. Fuck, for a while, I used to kill people with a jawbone.

It was very brave to write what you did, and a conversation that needed to apparently happen, but I do not think the phenomenon is specifically bound to gender.
A kiss or a grab to a man's private parts, without invite, is as equally unwanted.
I should hope the people of Arx would approach personal relationships with better judgement. There certainly needs to be more respect for each other and personal spaces in general.
