Don't tell the others, but she's my favorite sister.

Wait let me check the cover on this...

Oh. Well.

1. I'm so tolerable you might even like me one day.

2. Watch out, he almost sat on me. Almost squashed me flat as a pancake.

In understanding truth, we must accept the singular point that what we know is incomplete. Thus, truth is an absolute. It is the state of being correct.

Honesty, on the other hand is the representation of what we believe to be currently true. It is the presentation of the truth as best we may promote it, without attempting to color facts or details overmuch with personal perspective.

Thusly, someone might incorrectly represent a truth, thus being wrong, but, be honest in their explanation of it. However, it is also honest to share an idea as an approximation of the truth, in such a fashion as to aid or discern.

Ultimately, truth is a concrete thing and honesty is the moral value of representing one's self and ones ideals and ones understandings as completely true to their current understanding. One could quibble about how this applies to the semi-truths told to teach as we refine, in a scholastic setting -- but, in such a case, the intent is to bring individuals to a closer understanding of the truth.

An interesting discussion on truth and its place in education. Could you perhaps expand upon your thoughts with a discussion of how you perceive the relationship between truth and honesty and the relative merits (or flaws) of both?

Truth, in and of itself is only valuable as an understanding of its approximation. It is unlikely for anyone to ever have a complete understanding of even the smallest thing. This is the limitation of our existence, at the core. We cannot truly know more than a piece of a thing, and yet, our greatest gift is to be able to infer from that incomplete understanding the relationships between elements of the world.

Even letting aside the motivations for deceit, we communicate incompletely. Maps, may well be one of the most appropriate examples of this. Complete representation of the ideas contained within a map would be vastly impractical -- and more, useless. However, from this, we can tell truths and share understandings we could not without this model of the world. It is a lie, in that it is inaccurate and likely malformed, but, in that moment, it possesses more value than the complete revelation of what it would reveal.

Furthermore, in instruction, we start with falsehoods. Acts of construction and understanding begin with incomplete pictures that are taught, often by rote, to allow a student to perform some act, or to understand something further. Then, they are told what they have learned is wrong, or, at least, incomplete.

Knowing this, we can understand the value of relative truth. I find some comfort in this, in truth.

This week has been odd.

1. Princess Ann Redrain has agreed to be my patron. She is already proving to be both very difficult and contributing. I am undecided if she falls on the irritating side or the tolerable side.

2. I met a knight of Solace. He is a strange fellow. He has some quest to conquer me. Sir Jeffeth Bayweather is an odd man but not horrible, I suppose. He is not unpleasant like so many are when they are nice.

As this bird stares at me while I eat my morning porridge, I am mystified at the idea that one can simply get their pet to go somewhere else at will.

He hasn't stopped staring at me all morning. I am pretty sure he is plotting something.

The companions thus far offered up have been unique and most certainly not cats. I touched upon Ryder, the falcon of some lovely red plumage and he has been a significant difference. Either on my shoulder or somewhere soaring. The assistant sent to teach me how to handle has been skilled.

But another sent me their companion and I must say this was quite the difference and quite the change. His name is Oleander. A tarantula of some quite refined tastes. Always trying to crawl right off my shoulder or attempting to hide in a pocket. It would seems that the Archduchess Velenosa was not off about her companion and his love and adoration for fine fabric. I placed him on my bed and he returned forthwith to my robes. Up the front and back behind my my hair. He brings out a variety of responses from others and it's easy enough to usher him back into hiding when someone who fears them catches wind.

It is hard to get used to the feel of his legs on the back of your neck, the hair are just prickly enough.

So thank you Archduchess Eleyna Velenosa. Your companion Oleander is well enjoyed, an interesting perspective and I promise you he only escaped twice but we found him both times quickly enough. I will return him soon enough.

I still offer myself as your animal companions shadow for the day. To any and all who would like to see a day without them by your side so you can appreciate what they bring to you, and so I can see what life with them is like.

I will soon be traveling to Granato with Lucita and Luis to call the Igniseri banners in support of House Velenosa's call to join the Lyceum together. I do not know how Vincent and Pietro called the banners during the Siege of Arx - I think I was traveling at that time. It will be my first time doing such, and I can only hope that I don't mangle things too badly. I can only try, and see if my words inspire my people to take up arms to protect their homes and family.

Lucita's written a song to this purpose. I believe she's already posted it to the whites, and Luis has been working ever so hard in trying to train our troops and gathering the support of allied houses. I am proud of them, and ever so grateful they are so dedicated to House Igniseri.
