Pieces of art has begun arriving to the new gallery for safekeeping before being transfered to the Art District of Artshall once it is rebuilt:
A lovely piece by Duchess Farshaw and the most impressive tapestry by Lord Eswynd.

Curating again, I think, is a healing process for me. I'm not quite for an artist myself but seeing the art district burned before my eyes and speaking to artists later who have lost some of their life's work entrusting it there has been quite traumatic for me. Guilt is an awful thing. Guilt is something I carry everywhere nowadays.

This note was supposed to be inspiring.
The Gallery is supposed to be inspiring.
I hope that by collecting new pieces I will be able to inspire Artshall's artist to create again and hopefully once rebuilt, they will still choose Artshall to be their home. House Laurent offers commissions to artists who lost their work in the fire and struggle for livelyhood, ten folds their normal fee and gifts a honeystone to nobles who choose to make a new donation.

I look forward to seeing what more will come my way, what the last events will inspire people to create.

First White I've written in a long, long time. First I've written under this name at all. I'm sure it should probably be something wise, or remarkable.

I'm still here.

If it does not stand up to questioning, then it is not worth believing. If it cannot be questioned, then it cannot be trusted.

It is right to ask.

Pat yourselves on the back but the flesh rots, the blood turns to dust and only the worm writhes victorious.

You have your memories. Thats good enough. You're afraid to forget, but the Wheel turns. Let it turn. You only ever want to honor the faces you know.

Scores lay dead now from these islander fools. Where are their statues? Applaud yourselves for the marble and jewels squandered to appease your little inconvenient sorrow.

Find something better to do with your gold and time.

This Compact is obsessed with the past. Traditions. Guidelines set in place by those who never lived as we live now.

Do something that counts for today or tomorrow.

The Sixth Battle of Eswynd Rock

For ages gone by, we would live and die
In the ashes of Thraxian reaving.
They made us their thralls, and they'd burn down our halls
All throughout, Eswynders persevering.

We'd raid our sworn foes, for all warriors know
How the Mourning Sea swallows the fearful
By our blood and strife, we bought Eswynd life
To the time unto Tyde we swore leal.

Until the day dawned when Kinstrife were spawned
By a doomed man who murdered good Margot.
House Eswynd once more would gather for war
Our hearts mixing anger with sorrow.

When to battle we rowed, we were not alone
As we had been in centuries past:
Houses Thrax and Tyde now stood at our side
In seeing foemen from our waters cast.

Oh, Gods let my ancestors hear:
Oh, we'll show the foe who they shall fear.

Lord Anders Nightcove from Saltshoal we drove,
The only traitor worthy of naming.
Grimkin at Long Strand, and Dredcall were damned,
Each, vengeance upon Eswynd claiming.

In a great fleet they came to bury their shame
To conquer what their ancestors couldn't.
For centuries tried, yet always denied,
Keeping a tradition they shouldn't.

Oh, Gods let my ancestors hear:
Oh, we'll show the foe who they shall fear.

A thousand ships clashed, or upon rocks were dashed
As Prince Victus and his folk fought bravely,
When round from the east, roared forth a hidden beast
In the form of a far Saffron navy.

Wracked were the foe, for who could have known
That prodigals could prove so faithful.
Favor once earned, now in victory returned,
Breaking the lines of the hateful.

Oh, Gods let my ancestors hear:
Oh, we'll show the foe who they shall fear.

As invaders all fled, except for the dead,
Of their ships, a thousand crosses wrought,
That all might be shown what Eswynd had known:
That for plans of men the Wind cares not.

Another campaign, Eswynd Rock still remains
Defiant of conqueror's terror.
To friends leal and true, we will stand with you
Together on some morrow fairer.

Oh, Gods let my ancestors hear:
Oh, we'll show the foe who they shall fear.

Oh, Gods let my ancestors hear:
Oh, we'll show the foe who they shall fear.

One of these days, I will learn that my bow is far more useful in engagements out upon the seas than my blade. Even if that is counter-intuitive.

On another note, it helps to keep someone -with- a blade around to make sure others with blades aren't sneaking up on my bad side.

No, Resolute, I don't -just- have bad sides.

I was a reluctant dancer at the Wine and Elegance Ball, though no sooner had we parted ways, I discovered that it served as something of a reprieve from the recurrent pain and damage that war inflicts. All due respect to Marquessa Quenia for both raising resources for Isles houses in need and providing a well-timed diversion from the war. It was good to see my cousin smile again at a time when even her spirits are affected by this repressive burden. Next time, however, we will be sure to find amusement without leaving a mess in our wake.

Elora and the kids are going strong...just as expected. Rosa and I have started planning a lifelong exercise and training regime for them...only partly in jest. They are, after all, sailors and explorers by family and we want them to be up to the task. Far better a few bruises when young than an early death when things get more serious. I am open to them selecting their own weapons and other gear choices--they do not need to pummel their oppenents to death just because I do--but I want them to excel at whatever they select.

Trust is essential to surviving my line of work. It's not always there or as sure as you want, but if you're lucky you have people who have your back.

I've been lucky in my life and, with luck, hopefully my luck will not run out or betray me.

I would have thought, now we are some distance into this civil war, that my anger might subside. That my rage might calm. And yet, it doesn't.

I thank the brave men of Tyde who fell to defend our vassals in Eswynd, I thank those that lived. The battle cost us a great deal, but to not honour our duties to our vassals would have cost us something greater still. It is a lesson perhaps for those vassals who have chosen a different path. That they now stand exposed to the winds of the maelstrom, and that - having betrayed us - we will not be there. No. We shall instead be the teeth and claws of the gale, tearing from them the fair price of their betrayal.
