I don't say this enough, and I should say it more, I am so thankful for my family and friends. And feel very blessed to have them in my life, good or bad times, each one of them is a blessing.

Relationship Note on Norwood

Father, do not let Lord Braden's lack of respect for others, eat away at you. You are a good and just man, and you should not feel agony over having seen potential and wanting to foster it. Not all things turn out as we hoped for.

Lord Braden's actions are his own, and those that see that, know that it is not due to anyone but himself.

Instead, focus on the the things that you can do something about. For, none of us can change Lord Braden, but Lord Braden, himself.

Speaking of recently arrived individuals, I was pleased to discover that Dianara Whisper is now residing here in the capital as well. I simply cannot wait to see her again, and catch up.

I can assure you, Madam Whisper, that the Duke does indeed provide a generous stipend for his family, as you surmised. Any so-called poverty on the part of one of the Laurents is entirely their own making.

Antea has arrived in Arx. It always pleases me when any member of my House makes the long journey to the capital, but it has been quite some time since she and I communicated in any way other than letters.

Twenty bolts of umbra cloth, more fathomless than the darkest night. Two ingots of star iron, as splendid as their namesake, those celestial figures above us. Two nuggets of stygian, matte and cool to the touch. Many favors owed, acquired, and owed again. And of course, silver, plenty of silver has danced its way betwixt my fingers, and into purses that are my own, my lord patron's, and the House I am sheltered beneath.

I feel as if I am the luckiest woman alive sometimes, but I know it can't all be given over to luck, plenty of it is me and those I have the honor and joy to work alongside. And my work is far from over.

Relationship Note on Norwood

A stain can be removed, or at the very least whitened in the sun or scrubbed to the point it fades, leaving a mark that gives character and reminds you to be more cautious. That its presence causes discomfort long after is only right.

Thankfully, you haven't casually taken your honor, wadded it into a ball and thrown it into a mud puddle to begin stomping on it in earnest. You further didn't take your crumpled up honor from that fetid water and proudly wear it around dripping muck until it dried into a crusty brown and stinking mantle. Then after, you didn't douse it with strong spirits and light it on fire because you were upset about someone pointing out that you were wearing horrid crusty muck and had no right to judge the honor of anyone else.

You certainly didn't then petulantly roll in the ashes afterwards.

An idea struck me, but it had disappeared before I had a chance to hit back.

Which is fine. Just means it is time to turn some cold hard silver into warm liquid rum.

Relationship Note on Norwood

If I might humbly suggest that seeing good in another is not necessarily a bad thing, Baron Norwood. We must always have hope. Perhaps the error was seeing Knighthood as part of a path that rewards promise, rather than something given for promise proven into reality? Promise is enough to start the journey, to begin to squire, but until they have proven their understanding of the laws of Limerance and of Gloria, what does a knighthood mean? Simply words and title with no substance.

But none of us are finished works - if you feel you made an error, then that is a learning experience. And I tend to find only those men who feel no sorrow at a loss of honour, who see nothing wrong in their actions that caused it or who care nothing for it, are the ones who cannot ever redeem their honour. If you are sad, if you feel a loss, then there is hope to regain it.

A few of the prisoners had frostbites, no severe cases that warm water couldn't solve but painful for them nevertheless. Remember to stay warm in these cold times.

Which notice on the noticeboard where challenges are issued am I pay attention to, Nobleman.

The one where you say whatever and throw a gauntlet down or the one where you meekly ask for forgiveness?

On the third event of House Thrax's Winter event I have emerged victorious. It was no easy victory and I had to risk great harm to myself for that victory lest Lady Sanya would defeat me. It was invigorating. I do not think that anyone gave poor showing.

I feel that I can speak very poorly to the matter of honor at the moment. A few months ago I stained mine beyond, I fear, any repair. Lord Braden Laurent's actions have stained them even more.

It was I that knighted him. I saw potential in the young man. I fear that potential has not panned out. While he has achieved a measure of talent and success with his sword, he has not lived up to the ideal of Knighthood which I adhere to.

I live in agony at the moment, and I appologize.
