And of course, not a small amount of fine northern whiskey. We are Redrains, after all.
My sisters and cousins, either by blood or by bond, as much as I love the north, it is not home without my favorite people in it.
O, and let it be known, Artur is now the Pajama Prince (you're welcome).

The points of view varied greatly. Ranging from Grandmaster Caspian Wild's more hands-on approach to conflict resolution to great insights presented by Lady Lailah Bisland with her fine combination of idealism coupled with pragmatism. There were many points of view, stances, or beliefs put forward. While I can't recall whether Princess Roxana ever remembered what was being discussed, I'm certain she was deep into her cups on account of my not being entirely confident that she even knew who I am.
Marquessa Sunniva Harthall, Lord Luis Igniseri, and Lady Ouida Harthall each provided views that ranged from the scholarly to personal. Each one had an impact on the discussion, especially those who presented more graphic explanations or examples supporting their stance. Let us not forget the keen observations of Lady Isabeau Telmar on the topic of diplomacy and warfare, her own words further reinforcing the intertwined nature of the two concepts. Princess Katarina Valardin put her passion for debate on display and rose above expectations to truly invest herself in the discussion.
I count the meeting as a success and look forward to the completion of Lady Lailah Bisland's trophy. I do hope that everyone involved, in particular those who won't earn a trophy, are prepared for the next debate: whether or not participation awards should be provided as consolation prizes to those who don't make the grade.

That number, however, does not include cats.
Or children.

There are times for sweet moments to teach children about life and death and the cycles therein.
And then there are times to get a bucket of hot water, some good, harsh soap and a sturdy brush.
I think you may have found the line between.

But if someone in the Physicians could look out for Triage? He's a dopey cat but he's sweet.
I don't want him to have to go back to the streets if I die.
He deserves better than that, I think.

Know that I am honored by the generally sweet and welcoming way I've been greeted and that I am making it a point to write to everyone personally and thank them.

My patrol has been in the City Center for the last several weeks. Dumpling and I have spent quite a lot of time watching and watching over the ebb and flow of goods and services. I have noted the comings and goings, the rise and fall of prices, jostling, haggling. It's as if I'm watching the life of Arvum flow - but instead of blood, it's silver.
The veins that blood flows on are roads. I'm resolved more than ever to make this Great Roads project a success. If you haven't heard of it - and you'd like to - please write a messenger. The project would benefit from contributors from literally every walk of life. Roads literally and figuratively stitch the Compact together.

My Sister
Some short time ago she was tending to a great blight on the land. It was night and a mountain lioness tainted by the corruption lept from the shadows. I saw it, I dove, and down we went. Eventually, while I was being nearly mauled to death she put an arrow through its throat and Mirk rallied the soldiers to stab it before hauling it off me. It was very big.
I recount this story because while I may dive headlong into danger (and other things) for my family or due my own mistakes. My family is always there to see that it does not end in disaster.
Also for those curious she has not stabbed me or bludgeoned me with her new staff. I must be doing something right?
