There is nothing quite like 6 yr old logic. Explaining why testing her home made wings from the tallest tree in the gardens was not a good idea was a practice in diplomacy, not a skill I am well versed in thus it took 3 hours and many promises of playing pirate and the princess with a picnic including a cake from her favorite cake shop. Keeping it to just that one cake was a mini adventure all its own.

Squirrels are actually remarkable creatures, I think I am becoming particularly fond of one specific squirrel in fact.

I think I will need to alter all of my clothing just so I have treats for her. And it frustrates her human, win/win.

Please tell Princess Nia that Uncle Edain is very proud of her for protecting the spiders. Because spiders eat wasps.

Fuck wasps.

I apologize for the expletive.

Updated my will in my blacks, which seems to be a thing I do every November.

I ask that upon my death, the Scholars release that entry to the Master of Questions.

Miranda -

Aye it is the little things.

I will keep your offer in mind however. Though I have a feeling Fecundo will enjoy that you offered upon my behalf.

That is a kind and generous offer, Mistress Amboise. Gild smiles on the charitable.

That being said...

The last few days have been a bit of a whirlwind. Not only did I finally follow my interest in Alchemy and get into the Apothcary college, but I opened my own shop in the Lower Boroughs. Pluvio will be a work in progress for a while, likely, but I hope the venture does well. I set the grand opening for two days from now. I hope I'm ready!

Living with 13 cats is always an adventure but recently they've been up to no good.

Courvousier brought me two large potatoes in the middle of the night from the kitchen counter.

Another has started trying to attack my tongue while I'm asleep.

Another hates it when I read aloud. He starts to look at me pleadingly, paces around, and meows insistently. He even climbs on top of the book and bites my wrists in protest.

Another passes wind like a grown man and the other day led me to believe it was a guest in my home.

Another licks the butter. (Never have toast in my home).

Finally, about a month ago (I was loathe to write about this at all) one ate my yarn, passed it, and continued to still chase it about the house as it was... you know where it was hanging from.

Maybe 13 is just too much.

Nia, my daughter, sent her nanny screaming from the room, refusing to go near my daughter. When I arrived to find out what happened, I found my daughter with spiders in her hair. They were so tiny, just barely visible and there were too many to count. There she was happily playing with her dolls as if nothing was amiss.

When I asked why there were spiders in her hair, Nia told me that one of the servants was cleaning her room and almost /murdered/ these baby spiders that had just left their web sack where their momma lost them. Now she was their new momma till their real momma could find them.

I had this horrible dilemma because this particular species of spider dies after laying their eggs. I didn't want my daughter raising baby spiders in her hair. I thought for a moment and then inspiration struck. I took my daughter and her baby spiders to the Shrine of the Queen of Beginnings and Endings. And I showed her all the different spiders that had homes there. Then I explained to my daughter how these babies mother ended her life so her babies could have a new beginning.

I pointed out that the community helps each other when they lose another. How all the children grow up with many uncles and aunts when a momma or daddy spider can't be there. Nia related to the story because of the many uncles and aunts that she has in her own life. Luckily she let these spiders leave her hair to join the others. No baby spiders were injured in the process.

Of course I did not bring up that this breed of spider consumes their mate after the mating happens. I think my storytelling skills were stretched enough today.

Just because of the Grandmaster's recent comments in her journal:

Here's my will! If I die, all my wealth and belongings go to the Faith. Specifically, as much it goes to the Knights of Solace as they wish for! If it can be delivered to the Grandmaster with a note using the word "schmoopiepooh" at some point, EVEN BETTER.

I leave the execution of this will to Father Aureth, mostly because I think it'd make him smile.

Off my feet, i have been ordered. The promise that likely within the month the household increases. But till then, no stress. Nothing undue. Frequent trips to the springs in Navegant and to relax. It was suggested that my husband brush my hair or rub my feet and I had no choice but to laugh. These are not things that Victus does. These are not things that Donrai taught him or the lot of them to do. Cleave the head of those who have offended me, yes. Burn down the home of those who have held me hostage, yes. Rub my feet? Nay.

So I start the process of sorrowfully declining even more invitations out with pillows at my back, beneath my legs and honey snuggles purring away at my knee's. Not even the duties of a voice. Only that which I can do from my bed or chair and not burden. Do this and all will be well.

I suppose I'll have to spend my time with Ovelia and Maxene and decide my wardrobe when I am no longer... immense with child.

It is hard to imagine I shall ever be able to sleep again!

The household is a whirlwind, with so many chests and chests and chests of clothing to be unpacked and put away, and tidied, while still ensuring my cherished Sabine looks as though she hasn't a care in the world, except to draw its eye. As is right and proper! Thankfully sweet Cosimo needs less help, though certainly what he lacks in volume of chests and wardrobes he certainly makes up for in weight; more books than Sabine has shoes!

But in that lull before dinner, I was able to go on a jaunt to the market, and stopped to wander along the way, letting myself drift from enchantment to enchantment. I do not know how the others shall feel--I can already hear Minister Daupenne's rumble and feel his scowl--but oh, how the city calls to me! Tastes from places I've only read about. People whose manner of speaking delights. All here in one place, though I know it will take me many adventures to even meet the first first swallow of my curiousity! Today I chatted with a baker, and a cheesemonger, a few guards who were waiting for their lord to finish up his shopping. And I met a broodingly handsome sellsword and a duelist whose smile surely should make the most hardened of hearts melted and merry, and a fire-haired little King of the Fishes.

Did you know that the champions sometimes fight bare chested here? Perhaps all those stories about no one but we Lycenes knowing how to have a good time are just that after all! it seems that tonight I shall have some more time free to explore. Wish me luck!

While her elder brother and sisters decided to take their sweet time in making their appearance, Princess Leonora was evidently done waiting and decided to make her very sudden and unexpected entrance about a month before the midwives predicted her arrival. Two hours from the first pain, she was born with a full head of dark head and screaming her little face off. Her brother Donato is fascinated with her. Adria and Lucia are much less impressed. Of all our children, Leonora most resembles her father in both looks and temperament thus far.

May the Gods help us all.
