I remember when she was only a little kitten, all fluff and clumsy claws, endearing in the way of infant predators certain that they are the apex of their kind. Oh, how she hissed. Louder and longer than anyone else. As all kittens do eventually, she's grown up. The adult cat is sleek, tempestuous, fierce, inclined to the forms only so far as they suit her. The very epitome of feline. A delightful cat indeed so long as you have a care with the various pointy sides.

There is nothing quite a spar when afterwards it's not clear to an outsider who was the victor. I maintain that giving everything you have and walking away bruised and battered, even if walking may be an issue afterwards, is a good thing to be proud of.

I'm bigger than the Caraval. I'm fair certain of it. But it was very nice to get out of the estates and some fresh air.
The Legate Bianca came to visit and laid blessings on the atrium. Closer and closer I get to seeing it so thoroughly blessed. It is nice to sit in there in the rocking chair and see the tree's turn their shades and the water lapping in the pond. Makes the aches of this last month far less and brings me more measure of peace.

Last night I finally got to get to know Braelynn a bit more than our initial introduction and first meeting. She has an adorable pine marten who seems quite amicable to me. I plan to ask her to use him as a bribe of good behavior for Nara.
Apparently Micah has read a book where one of the characters eats spiders. Our cook came to me with a both hilarious and also disturbing story about him and Nara debating the proper way to prepare spiders over their mid-morning meal. The boy is frighteningly clever, and it's going to be up to us to make sure his sharp mind is developed along with common sense and empathy.
We also had my father and brother over. Michael is always going to be a scamp, even when he's old and gray, but I think that means he will remain someone who allows himself to feel joy, and that's a good thing. He is perfectly capable, and it's not a bad thing to be underestimated.
And once again, I am reminded how similar my father and my husband are.

The work done on my last commission of armor is simply exquisite. I will admit to some small skepticism on getting leather rather than steel armor, but consider me one of the faithful now.
