Relationship Note on Svana

Sonnet for Svana

Each night divorced from sleep by troubled thoughts
Do I lie awake, gazing at the stars
That remind me still of the friends I've lost,
Who'd sail with me a while but for wars.

Between those twinkling celestial lights
Emptiness is, and peace so sweetly calls
To banish Care's ceaselessly rolling tides,
And bring silence surer than Rukhnis' balms,

Yet there among the dreary waking dream
Do Svana meet, with ale and babes in hand,
Smiling to introduce th' enchanting miens
Of the newest from storied Grayhope's band.

And in their new-woke eyes, sure hope I find
'Long with company of the merry kind.

If anyone hears explosions in the near future, rest assured that I'm just seeing how effective an explosive I can make combining certain materials.

No, Scholar, I won't be doing this in the House of Questions. No, nor in the Bisland estate. Somewhere quieter where one is less likely to have an unfortunate encounter with shrapnel.

Of course it's dangerous! What nonsensical question is that?

The call and pull that is akin to my veins remains just without my grasp.
To feel the draw that tightens silk and canvas to stone as a new without gap.
Wondering if spray blown in high winds, laden with salt shall be a pleasured rasp.
Caught am I within its endless shifting shade to match a sky, my long desired trap.

I suppose I ought to consider a gown for the Festival of Death ball. Usually I just drag out something I've worn before, but as I helped host in this whole thing..

The only issue is I do not know if this child will still be occupying space within me or not at the time and that changes tailoring considerably.

Pregnancy is damnably inconvenient.

Astrid saw dolphins on her journey back from Maelstrom. I felt more comfortable with the children out of the city and the riots. But Victus’ birthday comes and I felt he could use his daughter’s smile as he recovers from his shrubbing.

She down drapes herself over his legs while rolling back and forth and begs for a dolphin for a pet and endlessly chatters about all the reasons why she should have one.

I despair to think what the Mangatan Finflaps would think or the Brothers from Don’tgotothedarkwaterwhatareyoucrazy.

It is good to hear her chatter in the halls. Her way with Eleyna is gentle and the two walking down the hall together, Astrid with her little wooden axe and Eleyna with her stuffed spider dragging.

Now all we need are the twins and their Reese dolls and Danes with his shield and we will be whole again.

It is too quiet without all of them.

Twice I have failed. I told myself, 'this time would be different. this time would be better'.

There is little more worth saying.

My son will not know his mother, my daughter will likely only have fleeting, ghostly memories of her. But I can see her smile in their eyes.

I must do better. I have to do better.

With so much else weighing me down it's maybe a little silly to take on a new creative project, but honestly, I feel inspired and revitalized to be looking into something new, even if it's quite old. Look for my notes to the Bard's College for future casting . . . in honor of the Knights of Solace and the King's Own, this one is going to be beautiful IF IT KILLS ME.

Scholar, as I am writing this, I have returned to the lands of Cloudspine to see to the request for help by the miners working here and my first entry that I will be submitting after my return is one with sadness. It is also the first time I have pulled the blade given to me as the House Sword and had to use it to end a life. A shav who is only a bit younger than me, whose life is so much different than ours, perhaps a simpler life but one that is no doubt frayed with dangers. Dangers such as us. Though I was within my right as Sword of Blackram to dispatch this shav raider along with his brethren who have trespassed and claimed the land of my families as theirs, killed the innocent miners that worked under my family name, it still fills my heart with sadness and doubt as I feel there may have been a more peaceful path that was denied us. I will take the time to contemplate more once I have returned to Arx.

Arx has so many beautiful places!

Have you ever been to the roof terrace and gardens of the Golden Hart? If you haven't, you must! Such a romantic place! You can get such a wonderful view of the city! It's truly breathtaking. Oh, and, the secret gardens and pools on the back are quite splendid as well!

There's also the Botanical Gardens! I adore that place. Walking underneath the arbors, or just relaxing by the swings. It's just lovely! The perfect place to enjoy nature, read or sketch. They remind me a little of the gardens back in Pridehall.

Ah, and, then there are places such as the Bold, Mercier's Tea Shop and Lottie's Place. They are simply delightful!

Princess Sorrel and Lord Alecstazi performed admirably today. Rarely have I seen such a striking example of skill and power paired with honor and decency. The match must have pleased Gloria. It was a privilege to see it in person.

I have no love for bugs. If I ever do catch sight of such disgusting creatures again I will not think twice or thrice to stomp on them. Hideous little things.
