Relationship Note on Leona
As we welcome Lord Commander Eleanor to her new role, let me also spare a word for our immediate past Lord Commander, Dame Leona.
Leona has been a friend and a confidant since shortly after I came to the Capital. She has taught me much about the ways of the knight and of honor, even correcting me when I have strayed from those virtues. She accepted me into the Silver Swords after once refusing her. And she has continued to teach me more about the world and myself as a knight in her service.
Even as you go on to new duties, Dame Leona, know that our friendship remains fast. I stand ready to give you any assistance you may require. And I look forward to our continued conversations.

Relationship Note on Eleanor
I could not be happier for (or prouder of) our new Lord Commander, Eleanor Allenatore. To say that she has been training for this role all of her adult life is an understatement. A squire to the King's Own since the age of 14, she has the spirit of a knight within her.
She will lead the Hundred to new great things. She walks the path of heroes, of the greatest knights of all of Arvum. I am proud to serve her, the King, and the Compact.

The Whisper House's grand Elysian Ballroom has been reserved for The Gala! I couldn't possibly get much happier. It's such an inspiring and beautiful setting for our vision. The Gala Committee is hard at work, making it happen. I was happy to have Dame Eleanor on my own ship during Setarco. I was happier still that she made it back to the city alive.
Her's is a legacy that has much yet to be written. I look forward to seeing it grow more and more as Silver Sword's new Lord Commander.

I will be sad when winter is gone. All of the time I've spent enjoying the snow and frost will have to wait for another trip next year.

I happen to be a lucky woman whose husband writes the most beautiful letters to. We do that still, exchange letters, little thoughts of one another when our duties keep us apart; even if it is only a few hours. Sometimes, we are struck with inspiration and have to share our thoughts with one another right at that moment.
He also gives the most amazing compliments (and gifts).
I often tell him how lucky I am. I often tell others how lucky I am... here and now, I am telling anyone who happens to flit through my journal:

Just when I thought there was nothing new which could surprise me, the Banshee is sick, a high fever which did concern us, but it soon broke. Then came the temper and the rash, and I will admit to taking the better part of valor and retreated. I will owe my dear wife something for dealing with the raging devil who flings food in faces and wails loud enough to shake walls. Balls and more importantly Masquerades can be quite fun. But a tip to those considering attending, go with friends or a date. I have yet to secure one to this ball, but I shan't fail to take my own advice. The mystique is fun to be sure, but people do tend not to stray far from whom they came with and it is always best to have a friend you can related to at such an event. I do wonder how future generations will handle the masked event.

I watched Coraline stand in the water, the same water that I did when I bound my hands and future to Thrax and to Victus. Watched him bind her hand to oaths of knighthood. Something that he has been in his heart of hearts, trying to do. I had thought perhaps that it might be who took the first oath, but it was Coraline. I wore my armor, stood to the side and watched as she spoke the words.
I wonder how many more will step forward to take the steps that she does? How many more will take their seasilk and what colours will they choose, what designs. Will Astrid do this? Or instead of her, will Danse take this step after he has done squiring with Valardin? Will Fatchforth take them and if so, what design will he place upon his sash. I am proud.

I've seen that Prince Galen Thrax writes the sweetest love letters to his wife.

So far, spending winter in a giant house is even stranger than spending it in a tiny inn room. Arguably it's not that different; I'm even around a number of the same people. Mostly my room is just much, much, much larger. And the paintings on the wall are much weirder. And you don't have loud drunks stumbling home in the middle of the night (because they already live here).
