Many dread Tehom. Terrified of the Mirror and its Lord, they avoid mention of Him in their prayers, shy away from His Shrine, and do all that they might to forget that the Thirteen Gods are indeed composed of a Thirteenth. I pity such individuals, for in so doing, they put their very souls at risk.

Tehom teaches many things. The importance to heed the opposing view, to never forget the necessity of exceptions, the need of balance between the virtues of the Gods themselves, and the balance between the ideal and the reality. Yet, arguably more importantly, He teaches the necessity of facing one's passions.

Ignoring them, ignoring our own mortal failings, or even the possibility of such failings, leads to being unable to deal with them properly when they are met. By refusing to even understand the truths Tehom offers, you are weakening yourself to the influences of darker passions, and ensure that as soon as your vaunted discipline fails, you'll fall.

A guard standing right next to the fire won't see the assailants approaching. One who stands closer to the night's darkness won't be so blinded, and will be able to do their duty.

Collect alcohol. Silks love drinking expensive shit, right? And I just so happen to stock liquor cabinets in my shop. Best liquor cabinets you'll ever see. Your bottles will be prematurely aging themselves to sit on my shelves.

I also have beer, but I don't recommend it unless you really, really hate your life.

Gods, dad, don't send me a messenger if you're reading this and we both know you fucking are.

Start a book club! Read books! Ride horses, ride the waves on a ship! Learn how to paint, to dance, to sing, if you haven't mastered those already! Learn how to use a blade, or an axe, or a quill! Learn to write poetry, or collect small momentos or wines. Go diving for pearls, or spear-fishing, or grow a garden!

...I realize I have had a lot of time for learning or thinking about hobbies over the years.

Work, work, work. There's always work to be done. I get it done, but I need a break!

I wonder what fun things a good Lycene girl can get into.

Suggestions?

(Yes, there is such a thing as a good Lycene girl. Don't look at me that way!)

I used to collect Bringer heads, back when they were in style. Not so much, anymore.

You could say I was a different person back then.

Did I mention, by the way, that the first person to comment on my dress was my sister? Elsbetta, the quiet one. Yes, she's my only sister, but still. She is such a sweetheart and I sometimes feel I should be protecting her, even though she's older than I am.

Love you, Els!

The black cherry and black current wine turned out to be exceptional - just as I imagined it would. We've a few bottles of it at the house. I've given one away for someone to try. Only one, so far. I am considering having a bottle opened at dinner. I really should invite more guests.

When I was young, I used to tell my mother that I would see life in shades of color. I didn't understand the knack I had at the time to read expressions, but perhaps color was the best way to explain it. If someone was jealous, they would look a little green. Anger was red, melancholy was blue. I was a teenager when I discovered the purple of lust and the gold of purity. Gold is a rare one to find - but as I have grown, I have found that the colors all run together more and more.

No more is there a single color. Life is now a kaleidoscope of color and design - greens come in all shades, as does reds and blue. And purple? I should remember that purple is indeed made of red and blue and as they come together - perhaps the gold may be tarnished, but when you are the one causing the tarnish, there should be guilt.

But it is more than that. Life cannot simply be pushed through a prism and made to work. It cannot be divided up and sorted, as one would sort candies from a jar. It is that though that colored my thoughts on the faith. It's impossible to just divide your soul into thirteen little perfect compartments. They will combine. They will mix and mingle. There is no one thing that embodies 'perfection'. There's pieces that will be missing. It's on us to find the proper colors, or multitude of shattered pieces of stained glass that make up our own lives.

I perhaps meant to go in a different direction with my writings, but instead I find myself.. curious, as to what color I am about to discover. Is it one - or will I finally find the combination that will make the most appealing to those I'm made of myself.

This week started with some interesting things of note. I have been studying a few tomes and information. Here and there. Basically preparing for when the enemy arrives. For that I am training some of my abilities first. I need to have good form and good range but also solid close quarter combat. I been feeling like a predator who is poised to strike with every fiber of their body ready to move into ths hunt. But no... I'm not foolish. There is no shame in a tactical retreat. I feel very compelled of late to start a new collection. My liquor cabinets are hella full. Maybe something less expensive.

I wonder if collecting skulls and other bones is what people call gauche.
