Confessor Imori, 2 Grayson Guardsmen, Confessor Warren, 5 Armed Confessors arrive, following Tikva.
Deliverance, an albino falcon, Stormy, a silvery gray hunting hound, Rosalie, a lady in waiting arrive, following Reese.
Stormy, a silvery gray hunting hound have been dismissed.
The Great Gray Hall really needs no decoration considering how elaborate it already is, which means it is a great place to host events! On top of the couches and tables that are here, a few other tables have been brought in so they can be piled high with just about everything a person could want: meats, cheese, fruit, bread, vegetables, sweet breads, cakes and of course, alcohol. Lots of bottles of wine and harder stuff and of course, for those that might not want to partake, some non-alcoholic punch.
Once it looks like the majority of people are here, Sabella steps up on a table with some help from her ladies, and says, "Good evening, everyone! I would like to thank everyone for coming. For those of you that are back from war, we are so glad that you are here and safe and you ought to expect a lot of hugs tonight! Those of us who stayed in the city spent most of our time thinking of you and praying for your safe return and this is a night that should be full of happy reunions. And for those that did not return, please find some time here to tell stories about them. We will carry their memories forever in our hearts and we celebrate their lives here tonight. So, please, enjoy yourselves and welcome home."
Reese arrives while adorned in lots of pink and toting along her many weapons. Pink ribbons are tangled up in her blonde locks. She seems to be a somber mood with her pale cheeks and serious blue eyes.
Tikva arrives at the party in full party regalia, shimmering in skirts and jewelry, but she appears to have-- forgotten her shoes. Or maybe she is just on strike about shoes and refusing to wear them; either way, her toes are bare as she skims into the Great Hall from the rest of the house. She is also wearing a copper-framed flower crown she found somewhere. It's very springy!
Itzal arrives, or perhaps materializes, among fellow guests. Clad in his outfit of dark leather, he's far from being the best dressed, or most richly so, but at least it suits him. The young bard looks about, his gaze drawn to Sabella as she gets the celebration started. He doesn't wait long afterwards to head straight for the drinks and taste one of those fine wines. They said celebrate! He fully intends to do so, and happily does he drink.
Kaldur arrives in the armor he wore upon the Golden Pearl's decks during the battle. He is fresh-scrubbed and looking it, the remnants of the burn of Bloodwater fading from proud cheek and jaw. He steps aside from the door after entering to better scan. He appears to be on some sort of reconnaisance sortie, blue-green eyes scanning the room with interest, noting the attendees, the arrangment of furnitures, and - aha - the food. He's doing some sort of calculus in his head, by his expression, it might hurt a little.
Reese looks over to Tikva, having a gentle and yet still sober smile of greeting for her. "You look very nice, Princess Tikva." She say in her direction. She then has a smile of greeting for Itzal. "Master Culler." She says in his direction. Finally she looks over to Kaldur. "Oh, Lord Kaldur, it is really good to see you off a boat. Did you get very hurt?" She asks of him.
Avary makes her way through the doors, chin held high and carriage slightly stiff. She accesses the gathering and the people present with her cool hazel gaze and then she puts on a slight smile, moving towards the hostess. When she reaches Sabella she inclines her head. "Good evening, it's good of you to throw a party like this, your Highness."
3 Armed Confessors, Confessor Dunn, 1 Grayson Guardsmen leave, following Gareth.
"Reese!" Sabella beams when she sees her sister, leaning on Elizabetta's shoulder to hop down off the chair to head her way. "I'm so glad you're here! I really hoped you and Lou would show up. Do you think it's okay? I thought, this room has one bad story associated with it, but we should make a lot more better stories in it and then maybe we start calling it the Great Gay Hall or something like that!" she chatters without taking a breath, looking around and smiling at everyone. "Welcome, Princess Tikva! I love your crown. Archlector," she is a flurry of greetings! "I thought people needed a little cheering up. And for those that haven't had a chance to run into loved ones who have returned, maybe they can tonight?"
Alejandra, a snowy white hound, 2 Grayson Guardsmen, Planchet, an unrelenting valet, 2 Iron Guardsmen arrive, following Ainsley.
Arlo, an impossibly fluffy dog with an impossibly grumpy face arrives, following Ianna.
3 Iron Guardsmen, Lyros, Sir Struttington, Esquire Messenger Peacock, Lumen, Ianna, Margret arrive, following Michael.
"Princess Ribbons-- I mean Princess Reese!" Itzal waves a little in the aforementioned Princess' direction when greeted. "You really should try the wine, it's great! Unless it's entirely common for you, in which case, I fear it is nothing special at all, sadly." the bard remarks. But then he notices Tikva, and he bows theatrically in her direction. "Dearest patron, a pleasure." In case anyone wonders why a Culler decided to show up. No need to keep your hands on your coin purses.
Ainsley is a little bit late, but he's also shuffling through papers as he comes in. Stepping out from the Queenspeace Hall. He's dressed appropriate at least! Seasilk, aeterna, and some dancing shoes. There's a frown as he grabs a quill from Planchet and begins writing a message
Tikva approaches Reese so that she can give her a quick hug and an easy smile. "Hey, Reese," she says. "Hey, Sabella! I'm so glad you decided to throw a party, it's delightful!" She lifts up one hand to tilt her crown at a slightly jaunty angle and grins as she turns an easy wave at Itzal. "Hey! There's my protege! See, the room looks totally different when it's full of people!"
Graham enters into the room he is wearing his armor, which has been repaired from the damage taken, though his helm is removed and hangs from a loop at his side. He looks about to the growing gathering though usual one to easily smile he is subdued and only nods in greeting to those he knows. "Hello." he says firstly though he will of course show proper respects when he gets further in.
Reese looks over to Avary, having a gentle smile of greeting for her as well. "Welcome Archlector." She says in her direction. She then is distracted by her lovely sister. "I think it is okay, but you would know better than me. I am not good at this stuff." She says and tries to give Sabella a hug. "It probably is very good. Thanks for hosting this." She adds a moment later. She then looks back over to Itzal and her blue eyes widen at his words for some reason or another. She smiles, another somber smile, but it does touch her eyes. "I am sure I will like the wine very much and I don't mind if you call me Princess Ribbons."
Hmm? Kaldur blinks, someone has addressed him. Oh! "Majesty!" He bows, a hand folded to his belly, before straightening and moving towards the Princess and the press of bright folk. "You and your Prince have Seliki's thanks for the timely training. We are home because of it I'm certain." He grins and backs a step at Sabella's enthusiastic greeting. "M'l--oh. Majesty," he corrects, eyes widening slightly, recognizing Sabella from days before. He ducks his head in another bow, "I hope you found who you were looking for." He takes a half-step back to remove himself from their reunion. The coloful crowd widen the young knight's eyes and he smiles a little whelmed (not over) at the glittering throng. Tikva, Itzal. Light, dark. Graham enters. THERE. A soldier. Perhaps by some gravity in the weight of arms, Kaldur drifts towards Graham.
The party arrives. Michael enters the Great Gray Hall in the center of a lineup of beauty. To his left Lumen, then Peri arm in arm into his arm. On his Right? Ianna then Margret, divine wood nymphs with hair the color of autumn and happiness.
The Man almost struts as he enters, he is dressed in Cobalt Blue, to off-set Ianna's wondrous Blue and Gold gown. Lumen is dressed entirely in a gold gown, cream colores roses about its bodice. Margret, at Ianna's right, is dressed artfully, wrapped in pearl and gold silk in a summer gown. Peri...missed the memo about gowns.
"Softest Lumen," Lumen is in the midst of a gentle correction as the little posse enters, "My cousin has a funny sense of humor. A layover from the time his head got caught in the banister and nobody found him for several hours, poor neglected thing. It's best to just nod and smile, I say." Which she does. To Michael. He better sleep with one eye open.
Avary moves to pour herself a glass of wine, smiling at Reese as she passes. "Thank you." She says briefly taking a sip from her glass as she turns to watch the other people as they walk in. Kaldur is given a curious glance has he begins to speak, and she simply drinks from her glass as the man gets slightly flustered.
"Are you claiming that place named 'the Elf Slaughter Hall' is typically left empty? Shocking! One wonders why." Itzal remarks to Tikva, a smile curling his lips. His attention shifts to Reese as she answers, and he laughs, and merrily so at that. "Wine shall be your best friend, but careful not to confuse it for another. It will listen, and will try to assuage your sorrows as much as heighten your joys. But a best friend it may be, it is not necessarily a good friend. You may find its attempts to assuage to fall flat, in which case, staying in its company will not improve your mood any. If such a thing happen, I would advise other company than the red one!" he cheerfully offers.
"Oh, yes! I did! Princess Reese and Princess Lou are my--" Sabella starts to say and then Michael enters and she stares for a minute before breaking into a brilliant smile, "Michael! And everyone! Welcome!" She grins at Tika, "You're welcome! I felt like everyone needed a reason to get together again and I promised Aiden that I'd do the welcome home one since he did the going away one. And we're not calling it that! That was one night!" She says to Itzal, "It's the Great Gay Hall for tonight!"
Reese looks over to Kaldur. "I am always very help to help train our allies. You and Lady Peri both were wonderful out there, such skill and persistance." She says in his direction. She then looks over to Michael, giving him a gentle smile, but despite her smiles, Reese still seems on some level sorrowful or troubled. "Lord Michael. Oh, I heard stories of you on the battlefield. Very good ones." She says, before looking to Peri, Magret, Ianna and Lumen. She has a smile for the as well. But she does look about for rabbits on seeing Lumen. "Wine as my best friend, Oh, no, you sound like Luca. He will be coming when he gets out of bed. Napping."
"I mean, why /not/ slaughter our enemies if we're going to be at war? At least we're home again now for a spell, to mourn the fallen and regather ourselves. Let's hope there aren't any elves on the other side of our battles for a time," Tikva says with a slight scrunch of her nose at its bridge. She tilts her flower crown the other way and then adds, "Wine /does/ seem like a good idea." She winks a little, and then moves in a flurry of skirts and aggressively bare feet to collect a glass for herself. Of something rose-pink, which she toasts in Reese's vague general direction, and then calls, "AINSLEY!" across the room in case he missed her somehow. "Have you met my protege yet?" Of note: her voice seems entirely recovered, or else she couldn't holler like this.
Ianna releases Michael's arm. "It's all right. You needn't drag me along everywhere as you flit about. I can entertain myself, I promise," she says, eyeing the food.
Tikva has joined the a mahogany grand piano with an ornately carved cabinet.
Peri seems to always miss the memo about gowns unless someone shoves it in her face, takes her shopping, to get fitted, etc. She's wearing...something non-gown but nice enough. Once they've arrived officially and wandered over as a group, Peri allows Lumen some space, slipping her arm out from hers and peering at the veritable feast of people and talking and everything.
Ainsley doesn't so much as startle when his wife shouts his name, instead he turns as if pulled by a string. He's still getting messengers coming for him as he walks. A frown is given to one of them, but he hands it off to Planchet, and then says, "Mmn, oh, go get my writs from the bank and take them to Mayir Grayhope, please." A pause, "Yes. /Mayir/. The one I can stand, not his swindler of a brother or cousin or whatever." And then he sets aside his quill to grab his wife and pull her in for a great big hug and a kiss, before stepping back and looking toward Itzal. "Hello."
Reese turns to Avary. "You are related to the Ashfords?" She asks in her direction. Reese then goes to get herself a glass of wine. She looks like she could use a drink. Reese has missed the gown memo too, but she always seems to miss those. She is in same expensive pink protective clothing that involves no dresses she always wears. If a demon barges in, Reese is ready!
"Great Gay Hall for tonight, you say? Very well, we'll see if the name lasts!" Itzal tells Sabella, amused. "Depends if anyone does something particularly memorable before the end of the event, I'd wager." he grins. To Tikva's points, he ascents with a nod. "Fair. I suppose the Hall does offer the benefit of being close. No long treks across the mountains, or sailing far seas. Speaking of mountains..." And Itzal turns towards the poor man that was being called, or yelled, at by Tikva. Depends on one's perception! "How WAS your stay up North, Your Highness? No doubt bad enough to be glad to have returned to your wife and the duties of fatherhood, yes? Itzal Culler, bard, a pleasure." he both asks and introduces. Multitasker, that man.
Lumen checked perception + empathy at difficulty 15, rolling 8 higher.
"He's delightful," Tikva tells Ainsley as he puts her down, ruffling her fingers over the crown of his head, and then turning a beamish smile on Itzal. "We didn't bring Asharion to the party because he'd just yell at everyone." (And obviously, that's Tikva's job.) "--But your lullaby was very well taken, I appreciate it a great deal!"
Margret leans over to whisper something brief to her sister before she releases her arm. She lifts her head then to smile politely, and nods her head at the people she recognizes. A respectful nod is sent in Reese and Itzal's direction.
The collection of fine and lovely woman, arranged beside Michael like the feathers of a Peacock dissipates almost immediately and Michael strides forward to interject himself into the crowd of Graysons. "Princess Reese, hello." A wink before he goes to greet the HOST first. "Sabella Grayson. You had best have cognac here. Otherwise I may revolt."
Avary turns her attention to Reese and she nods briefly, smiling at the beribboned Princess. "I am, but we don't get to see as much of each other now, my work takes up a lot of my time." Her eyes take in the slight bedlam that is going on, the arrival of people and lots of talking. She lets out a chuckle and leans in to speak quietly to the woman dressed in pink.
Lumen has an easy smile for everyone she passes. She's all set to break away from her initial entourage and circulate about the room, but Peri catches her attention. She leans in, "You look fine. Half the Graysons wear leathers and armor day in and day out." With a flitting gesture, she beckons a drink for herself. If Peri wants to get in on the order, that's her own personal situation.
Ainsley has joined the a mahogany grand piano with an ornately carved cabinet.
Lumen has joined the Couch of Majestic Gryphons.
Michael has joined the Great Table.
Itzal has joined the a mahogany grand piano with an ornately carved cabinet.
Lumen has left the Couch of Majestic Gryphons.
Sabella laughs and grins at Michael, "Of course! I tried to get a little bit of everything I could find. Did you know some people stash bottles like, everywhere around here? You go looking for a book and bam, secret liquor cabinet! There's a whole table full of bottles, feel free to test them until you find what you're looking for. Or read the labels if you're not very fun."
Lumen has joined the a mahogany grand piano with an ornately carved cabinet.
Pardon Kaldur, he's a little dazzled. A patient server stands for a long moment at his elbow with a tray of wine in lovely sparkling glasses before he notices. "Oh." Uh. "Thank you." He selects a glass and nods, catching Avary's glance. He blinks, brow furrowing, and looks down at his chest. Something there? No. Well, griffons rampant, but that's expected. He straightens and looks back up, but Avary's attention has gone elsewhere. "Peri!" He smiles, taking her hand and lifting it, "Oh! You look stunning!" He frowns, a look of canine consternation in the furrows of his brow, "I thought you were bringing Yaya?"
Reese smiles once again to Margret. She then nods in response to Avary words. "You must be very busy. I don't know much about the sentinel, but Lord Killian used to follow him. Maybe he likes Ashfords." She says, sounding all musingly. She then leans toward Avary murmurs softly softly to her. After a moment Reese nods in agreement with Lumen. "Yeah, I don't even wear gowns to balls. Always want to be ready to fight. One never knows." She sounding hyperviligent, maybe paranoid!
Itzal offers a cheerful wave to Margret before moving over to the piano. Clearly the man has chosen to follow the utmost formality for this event.
Graham looks at the one who approaches. "Hello." He greets managing to give a smile in greeting. "I'm Lord Graham Stonewood." offering a hand over though he will look as more and more enter as well just to keep track of things going on.
Drink in hand, Lumen lifts her eyebrows at Reese. "I'm not a bunny, you do not have to be ready to fight me," she states unequivocally for the record... y'know in a teasing way. Oh, but then she winks! Maybe that means she is! With a swivel of her hip, she moves on to greet her other cousins at the piano.
Tikva has also annexed a space by the piano, and since she, as Itzal's patron, is at this event without any shoes, it appears they are at least partially well-matched in regard to formality.
"Oh...Yaya? Wait, she was right-" Peri looks behind her and scours the room. "I need to go find her before she wanders into a shop. Please," she glances towards the group of Graysons, "Send Princess Sabella my kindest regards. I'm not sure how long I'll be." She shoots Kaldur a knowing look and then slips away from her party to depart in search of her grandmother.
Avary raises a brow at Reese, chuckling as she lets out a breath. She makes her way towards the table, taking a seat as she nods to the other occupant. "Good evening." She murmurs, raising her glass in Michael's direction.
Avary has joined the Great Table.
Sabella waves a hand towards the piano, "If anyone would like to play, feel free. I didn't hire any musicians because I knew a few would show up! And hello," she smiles at Graham when he introduces himself. "I am Princess Sabella Grayson, please help yourself to tons of food and wine and whatever else you can find! It's nice to meet you."
Reese peeks over to Graham, giving him a smile that touches her blue eyes. "Lord Graham, I am so glad you were there with us and the fleet." She says in his direction. She then turns to Lumen and even as the grace to blush. "Oh, I won't fight you, but if someone attacks you, i will defend you, Whisper Lumen."
Lord Bisland points off towards Ianna once, standing with Sabella. Michael gives Sabella a coy grin and a gentle pat upon her side before he moves off towards the dining areas, to secure himself a glass of Redrain Whiskey. Then he settles at the Great Table for the moment. Avary is there and Michael talks to her.
Itzal gazes outwards momentarily, catching sight of Avary. He doesn't look troubled at all to see the Archlector of Sentinel present. Nope. Don't mind the fact that he's making sure the nearest exists are still free from obstruction.
Prince Luca arrives from somewhere upstairs, ostensibly one of the Valor bedrooms, and he seems rather well-rested. There's an easiness to his gait, and the casual air that rarely ever leaves him is there, the one he wears about himself like a nice longcoat. He's armed for the get-together, it would appear, sword sheathed in his dueling belt, and one hand is perched there, resting on the hilt in a way that's not so much cautious as long-bred habit. It's just how he walks, helping to promote his subtle swagger, at least when it's toned down to subtle. He pauses somewhere mid-stars, and his dark eyes cut across the gathered people, picking out each one for less than a heartbeat. He announces himself with, "Well, look at that. How did all these beautiful, interesting people break in?" before he continues on and makes his way amongst all the familiar faces.
Synder The Wolfhound arrives, following Barric.
Sabella laughs at something Michael says and gives a wave to Ianna, "I don't know that we've met yet, officially. I hear Michael had some input on your dress? Was it more than 'I like that one?'" And then she brightens when Luca comes in, "Prince Luca! Welcome! I'm sure you can pick out Reese. The pretty one with the ribbons."
Ianna grazes off finger foods, keeping herself entertained. She pretends not to see Michael pointing at her. She wanders over to Princess Tikva. "Your highness," she says, nodding graciously. "You are looking well. I am glad to see you with some color back in your cheeks." When Sabella waves at her, she turns. "You have me at a disadvantage, my lady."
Reese takes another sip from her goblet of pale wine, seeming eager for the drink. Rosalie sneaks her in messages and it seems that she is doing business even now. She peeks over to Luca as he arrives, having a brieft and yet still adoring smile for her handsome husband.
Avary catches Itzal's look and she manages to offer a brief smile, eyes taking in his clothing and appearance. She glances away first, back to Michael as he is speaking to her at the table, He hands her a glass of whiskey, they exchange a few words before she makes an attempt to hand the glass back.
Relic arrives, following Harlan.
His sister off in search of Yaya Oona, Kaldur's attention snaps back to the affair. He eases to and fro in the bright press of people, and the young lord he'd noticed. "Lord Graham." He inclines his head, "Lord Kaldur Seliki. 've you been to many of these?" Kaldur takes a sip of the wine - wow, that's good. He peers into the glass appreciatively and takes another sip. He gestures about at the strutting peacocks and swung hips and flaring silks and slippers. "I can't say that I have."
Harlan enters from outside, perhaps a bit more slowly and sedate as normal -- probably like a lot of people, honestly!
Itzal's answering smile to Avary is downright cheerful, you'd think he'd just seen his best friend.
Graham will nod to Sabella and to Reese in turn "A pleasure to meet you, your highness." He greets the former the latter gets a nod and a smile from the young soldier. "It was an honor to fight at your side, I will gladly do so again at any need." He comments and nods "Good to meet you Lord Seliki."
"Princess Sabella Grayson," Sabella says with a smile to Ianna. "It is nice to meet you. And hopefully there will be no need for fighting any time in the near future," she replies smoothly to Graham. Harlan gets a bright smile and a wave when he comes in. "Duke Harlan, welcome!"
Prince Luca can wield his grin as well as he can wield a blade, and he offers it to Sabella at her comment. "Reese? Reese. That name /does/ sound familiar. Ribbons, you say? I think I remember something about someone with a lot of ribbons." He spins, searching, and in the moment just after he stops, he flashes his wife a quick rogue's wink, then brings his cinnamon-hued gaze to rest on Sabella again. "Nope. It doesn't ring a bell. I'll just have my pick of the prettiest woman in the room, I guess." And he meanders through people, over in Reese's direction, eventually reaching her side and leaning in to press a kiss to her cheek. The way he lingers just a little might indicate something whispered.
Reese looks toward Graham. "The need will be here soon." She say in this gravely troubled voice. "I will be in contact soon." She adds toward him. Rosalie sneaks her more messages and Reese drinks yet more wine. She then lifts her gaze to Luca, listening to his words even as a rosy heat blooms over her normally pink cheeks. Reese isn't clever with words like Luca, she is better at agnst than wit! She never comes up with anything to say, but she does nuzzle her cheek back into his kiss. "Nimble." She says and murmurs back to him.
Inquisitor Jonathen arrives, following Laric.
Entering from the upstairs living quarters, Prince Barric, the Sword of Bastion, is dressed in mostly plain clothes with little color to them, seeming to do as much as possible to just blend into the outer perimeter of the room. He nods his head to any that look his direction, offering a bright smile that doesn't fully make its way to his eyes. Food! He slowly ambles along the wall towards the table of finger foods.
3 House Riven Soldiers, 1 Greenwood Tribe Blood Warriors, white-tailed eagle, Lianna arrive, following Mia.
white-tailed eagle, 2 House Riven Soldiers arrive, following Thesarin.
2 Ashford House Guard arrives, following Olivia.
"I wish it were so your highness, but I fear that it is not. If I can fight so that others may have peace, then I must do so." Graham says kindly though he looks over to Reese nodding gravely. "I will answer the call. Oh.. I meant to ask if you recieved the items I had sent, or well given to give to you." He wonders.
Avary glances away from the table where she catches sight of Harlan. She gets an inscrutable look on her face as she nods at Michael, distracted. She walks towards Harlan and stops near his elbow. "Cousin." She says, inclining her head as she raises her glass slightly.
"Reese! Take a break! I will make Elizabetta get your messengers drunk! Stop working!" Sabella warns with a mock stern voice, getting herself a drink and looking around with a big smile at all the people talking and eating and drinking and mingling.
Michael abandons the table where Avary was and meanders back towards the group he came with. Towards Ianna and Co and he settles in beside her.
Mia did not arrive as she often did, walking at the sort of brisk clip that suggests it may be in one's best interest to simply move from her path. No, though she arrived in one of her characteristic gowns, its hem was not kicking up at her feet, and though she arrived with her husband, she was leaning heavily on his arm. It was not particularly difficult to ascertain why, given the bright white shock of bandages that peeked out from underneath her left sleeve and along the neckline of her dress, extending so far as to cover even one side of her throat.
Reese turns her attention back to Graham. "I think so. Was it you who returned my ribbons to me? I need to get Sparte's shirt back to him." She says, like that somehow relates. She then looks over to Sabella, looking a bit sheepish. Reese turns her focus to Mia and noting the bandages, she sucks in a sharp breath. "Oh, Countess Mia, you were injured?"
Olivia makes a quiet and less intrusive sort of entrance, perhaps because she's coming late. Plus it's always such a crowd. As ever, when there's so many people about, she hastens toward the familiarity of family, ending up at her brother's side - and it seems, her cousin's also. "Hello, hello, sorry I'm late. I was finishing up in the garden and lost track of time."
Harlan reaches a hand to touch Olivia's and offers her a smile, "It's all right, Livvie. It's not like I'm moving all that fast yet anyway." He blinks as Avary approaches, and offers a bit more hesitant of a smile, "Cousin Avary. It's been .... very long since I've seen you about. It's good to see you here -- what brought you back?"
Tikva begins to noodle lightly at the piano keys, suggestive of the beginning of a song.
"Princess Sabella, a pleasure, your highness," Ianna says, inclining her head. When Michael sweeps up behind her, she hands him the glass of wine. "There you go," she says politely.
"Olivia, it's been a while." Avary says, a quick smile pulling at the corners of her lips before it fades away. She takes a drink from her glass and glances out at the crowd. "It is good to see you, both of you." She includes Harlan in that statement. His question makes her sigh and she shakes her head, shrugging. "Work needs to be done, I can't shirk duty." The irony in those words make her smirk as she turns to eye the Duke. "I'm glad that you both are doing well."
Thesarin walks in with Mia, for once not hurrying to keep up with her, going at his more characteristic languid, measured pace. He's... not precisely dressed up for the party, but he is cleaned, long hair pulled back, and some care taken to support his wife at his arm. He isn't making any attempt whatsoever to cover his tattoos, showing out at the line of his neck and the ends of his sleeves. As ever, he looks exactly like an overdressed shav out of the woods. "Princess Reese," he says with a nod of greeting. "Held back at the retreat, to cover the wounded. Was..." he looks over at Mia with a deep frown, and just the hint at a shake of his head. "...very brave."
A big sigh of relief and Michael takes the glass from her to sip from. "Why thank you, Lady Greenmarch. I needed this." Is Sabella still around? Or has she wandered off again like a hummingbird flitting from one flower to another, from conversation to conversation.
Tikva checked dexterity + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 38 higher.
Ianna has joined the a mahogany grand piano with an ornately carved cabinet.
"Countess Mia, Count Thesarin!" Sabella the hummingbird greets the new arrivals, gesturing towards the couches, "Plenty of places to relax, I can send someone over to bring you some plates of food and drink! Lady Olivia, greetings!" She's everywhere!
Prince Luca offers his wife a second peck on the cheek - this time the other cheek, even, after listening to whatever it is she whispers in return. Something is offered again, low and just between them, before he's breaking from her side, leaving her with a warm, vaguely troublesome smile that stretches across his full lips. His casual gait takes him through the room again, closer to the piano, where the sounds of someone teasing at it have started to emanate. He doesn't say anything immediately, but his dark eyes are watchful and his smile's still armed, and he looks for all the world as if he's listening, while politely waiting for an opening.
As Tikva begins to strike the piano keys, Lumen settles in leaning against it to watch -- and er, listen, obviously.
"....That is certainly one way to put it, Your Highness," Mia replied lightly, though her expression was certainly wry. "What my husband means to say is 'Very foolish, in the 'Who thought it was a good idea to give the woman a sword?' sort of way, and would've been dead if not for her guards dragging her back out of the jaws of the undead, literally.' So. Please excuse me if I make no curtsies tonight. I would prefer not to tear any of the stitches, if only because I seem to have found myself a physician with an event worse bedside manner than my own."
Luca has joined the a mahogany grand piano with an ornately carved cabinet.
Michael has left the Great Table.
Michael has joined the a mahogany grand piano with an ornately carved cabinet.
Tikva strikes up a sprightly tune, fingers flying lightly over the keys. The instrumental piece she has selected is a common dancing reel, though she doesn't seem immediately inclined to put words to it; she does cock an eyebrow as she plays, smiling blithely at those nearest the piano.
"...You crab!" Ainsley's voice drifts up, a littler louder than is polite, from near the piano.
Lumen looks hurt. HURT. Crab?!
Synder The Wolfhound leaves, following Barric.
"Oh, cousin!" Olivia had obviously seen Harlan was speaking with someone, with her sort of wide-cast greeting, but it seems she hadn't quite wholly sorted out who it was until she arrived. She brightens visibly, not that her demeanor isn't generally of a sort of cheery sort. "It's good you're here, good to have family about. Are you well?" There's also a sort of frowny-glance to Harlan. "I should look at your injuries again when we get home." Really she's been quite the fussy sister. Catching a greeting from the hostess, although maybe only peripherally, she looks over, blinking once or twice. "Oh. Thank you for hosting us, Princess."
Michael is overheard praising Sabella for: For throwing a tasteful welcome home party!
Ainsley is overheard praising Sabella for: For uplifting spirits in time of need.
Reese turns her attention to Thesarin, giving the count of Riven a polite nod of greeting. "Count Thesarin." She says in his direction. "It is good to see you back. I heard you were great on the battlefield, but you always are." She says, before looking over to Mia. "I hope you recover well, Countess."
Harlan continues to offer that smile towards Avary and says, "Well, it is good to see you. I agree with you about duty, though." It's what got him full of holes, after all. Not that he's complaining. He pauses as Thesarin comes int and calls out, "Count Riven! Someone get that man a drink!" He then looks back over towards his sister, "Keep it up, Livvie -- I'll find you a husband to fuss over." He's teasing her, very obviously so, since he's smiling at her.
Avary is overheard praising Sabella for: A wonderful hostess and an excellent party!
Kaldur perks at the mention of Graham returning Princess Reese's famous (infamous?) ribbons. "Well done," he gets a nod and a tip of a wine glass empty enough for a refill. The young knight moves off in search of that refill and the table of food. He's re-crossing the room when the map table catches his attention. "Oh, wow," he tips his head this way and that, trying to mitigate the glare of lamp and candle upon the gleaming surface. "That's something else." His smile brightens and he lifts his head sharply to call... Peri. Who has gone off in search of Yaya. Hmm. Tongue wetting his lips, he mouths the names of the locations, some of them aren't there any more. Others aren't represented. Or... maybe he's misremembering his geography. To anyone near enough to hear, "How old is this table?"
"So do I," Mia said to Reese, slowly shaking her head. "At this rate, I'll have enough scars people will start mistaking me for him." And here, she lifted her chin to her husband; Thesarin did, after all, have more than his far share of holes in his hide to match the tattoos. "Princess Sabella. Thank you for having us both."
Graham nods to the princess's question "That was it, sorry I must have been in a hurry and didnt sign my messege before sending it off." He chuckles a little shaking his head as this seems to be a basic thing one would do. He nods to teh soldier. "Thank you, hardly a feat though."
Avary smiles at Olivia and she finishes her drink, setting it aside. "We should catch up soon, Olivia. It would be nice to know how things have been around here since I've been away." She says, her voice quiet. She nods at Harlan, letting her arms fold loosely over her chest as she watches Tikva play the piano.
Sabella beams a smile over at Tikva when she starts playing music. Perfect! "You're welcome! It was the least I could do to make sure everyone got to see each other. Oh," she replies Kaldur, "I'm actually not sure. Very? I'm sure someone here might know." And then a smile to Mia, "I'm so glad you could make it. It's wonderful to see those who were able to come out."

Michael has joined the Couch of Majestic Gryphons.
Michael wraps a hand gently around Ianna's elbow and tugs her from the piano. "Lets get to somewhere we can sit, The couch?" A step or two, and his hand doesn't drag, just waits to see if she'll follow.
Ianna is apparently tugged along. "I could sit. These shoes are terrible. Gorgeous, but terrible."
Olivia scrunches up her nose a little at Harlan's marriage quip. "One has nothing to do with the other. You know I take my work seriously, even if battlefield medicine isn't precisely my specialty. You're still my patient, and so I must be attentive." Hmph. Turning back to Avary, she bobs her head. "Well, I suspect we'll have no shortage of opportunity." Then her expression softens a little. "Though it's largely been like this. Hardship and getting through it. I'm sure you've heard the worst, and I'm just very happy to have my brother back merely a bit banged up."
Michael says, "I'm better at dresses than shoes"
Harlan chuckles towards Olivia, then winces as he moves a bit wrong. "You can thank Count Riven. He and his men pulled me out of the fire at least once, if not more than that." He sobers more than a little bit, apparently dealing with some darker thoughts briefly. He then says towards Olivia, "We're both back," agreeing.
Laric enters the greathall from its adjoined twin. He takes a leisurely stock of the room and its guests, putting on a faint smile for whomever might meet his eye. Once assured there's, say, no lurking rabbits, he heads over to the drinks table in no real rush to get there, collecting a glass of red wine and redirecting for one of the unoccupied couches.
Laric has joined the Plush Couch.
Itzal begins to sing. The bard, true to form, does so very well, his voice joining with Tikva's masterful playing. The song itself is not one that's known, though it fellows a well-enough tune as to be recognizeable by the Princess. The lyrics, however, are completely invented. Though one might fear that the Culler will take the opportunity to misbehave, he does not. Instead, he sings his song, an invitation to dance, while he spins the tale of Jayus' Aspect spinning among them.
"Killed a lot of folk, by whatever count. Past that... well. Denied them the city. Heard you and Prince Lou did fine work, as ever, down South." Thesarin gives his rather grim assessment toward Reese, looks at his wife, shakes his head a little. "Made it out, Countess. A victory right there." He gives low nod at Sabella, lowering his eyes just an instant. "Princess Sabella, my thanks for having us." And he raises his chin and his left fist in greeting toward Harlan. "Duke Ashford; fine seeing you recovering. I'll take a drink if it's offered." Thesarin looks back toward Mia, and motions with his head toward the couches. "Countess. Want to take a seat?"
Tikva keeps up as Itzal's accompanist with ready cheer and an easy smile, her breath breaking on a laugh at one point during his lyrics; she seems to be genuinely enjoying letting her fingers do the dancing on the keys.
Reese seems to be struggling with how big the party is, but she often does when so many gather. She then turns to Kaldur. "Sparte brought my ribbons into battle for luck and I brought his shirt. It seemed to have worked for us both. But also if we died, we would be sort of with each other." She says, but despite those words her affection for Sparte, seems platonic. She then looks over to Mia. "Oh..you will match Thesarin, eventually." She says.
Sabella tap, taps her feet to the music. She can't help it. She hands off her glass and then asks, "Lord Kaldur, Lord Graham do either of you dance? Or would one of you like to learn?"
Avary turns when Itzal starts to sing, a surprised look on her face. She lets the conversation with her cousins fade as she stands still, appreciating the singing and the accompaniment on the piano.
That is not the least bit reassuring, Princess," Mia quipped back to Reese, before she looked up to her husband at his question. Thesarin received a single nod and a murmured, "Please." Yes, yes she very much would like to sit -- which she did, sinking gratefully into the couch cushions. It was only once she was settled onto them that she relinquished the Count's arm, folding her slender hands together and resting them in her lap.

Lumen takes this opportunity to look around with tragedy airs ...as any young woman is want to do when she finds herself without a dance partner. Oh, but then there is Prince Ainsley to save her. She places her hand in his with a playful roll of her eyes.
Ainsley checked dexterity + athletics at difficulty 15, rolling 37 higher.
There's enough conversation flying about that Kaldur is catching only fragments. Flashing teeth and eyes and glasses. He's squinting at the map table where Pearlspire is and is unaware of someone addressing him. Again. There's one of those lulls. Expectant. And his head snaps up. Plate and glass in hand he blinks around, eyes landing on Princess Sabella, "Hunh?" He starts and straightens, sifting through the fragments of conversation. "I do not." His eyes drift up to consult the ceiling as if not sure of that reply. They drop, "No, your Majesty, I don't." A server, prescient, or perhaps simply more aware than he, appears at his elbow to take glass and plate. "Oh, thank you." He grins, "But I'd be delighted to learn." Uh. He steps towards the woman.
Graham looks back nodding to Reese "That was a good gesture, and i'm glad you both made it back." He looks back as he's addressed. "I enjoy dancing. If you wish to do so?" He answers to her question with a welcome smile though he looks to the other as well not wanting to cut anyone off from answering.
Ainsley sweeps Lumen out toward whatever makeshift dance floor there is. Spinning her about and doing a little hop-skip of his own. Utterly and completely showing off. Twirl, twirl, dance.
Evidently, Olivia takes Harlan's suggestion literally. "Oh, is that so? Then I really must! Will you both excuse me?" And like that, she looks back and forth a little to pick out said Count, though fortunately Thesarin takes note of the conversation. Still, she hustles the short way over, even trailing the couple toward the couches, though just to stand nearby, where she makes a curtsey. "You do have my deepest thanks for seeing my brother through whatever trials and his own likely buffoonery," what, she can't let him off without an affectionate bit of sibling ribbing, "and safely back home. Truly I am deeply grateful." Both he and Mia are offered smiles once she straightens.
catches something in the gathering, some snippet of words, and he drags his attention from those gathered around the grand piano to call back to Sabella, "Kaldur's great on his feet! Just don't come at him like an arrow!" He grins at Kaldur, but immediately his gaze is back to where it had been. He's moving like the breeze, a word here or there with somewhen before he rolls along again, off to bring his next message or greeting to wherever. It's like he's checking off a list.

Lumen laughs. Her ordinarily closed-mouth smile cracks into a toothy grin as she twirls around with her cousin on the dance floor.
"Come on now, one and all,
Dance within this fine hall,
Where elves once were quite dead,
But happily we thread,
For tonight we all pray,
Ainsley will avoid clay."
Itzal grins even as he sings, his tenor voice playful and merry.
Sabella gives Graham and Kaldur each a brilliant smile, "Lord Kaldur beat you by two seconds, but Lord Graham, I shall dance with you next, I promise. We'll have to give those two a reason to keep playing after all!" She takes Kaldur's arm and all but drags him over to a space that can handle some dancers. "Okay, this one sounds pretty easy, just--you're supposed to lead so pretend you are and I'll pull you through the steps." She promises. And even though she's never heard this song before, she's pretty good at matching a couple of well known dance steps to this one! "Now...twirl me under your arm, like so!"

Ainsley spins Lumen around, and does a little hop to the side, before catching her from the side, and attempting to sling her slightly to the side and twirl her a bit more. A small laugh is given, though he slips slightly as he catches his name. Eeeeh? Says his expression. Eeeh?!
Kaldur lifts his hand to take Princess Sabella's, smile braod, a touch of color at the tips of his ears, "My gravest apologies in advance for the shame I will soon heap upon Seliki." He tips his head to listen to the music and braces briefly, signalling Sabella with a bit of pressure that they're... off!

Reese has joined the Couch of Majestic Gryphons.
"Can hope she won't, Princess Reese. The Countess is meant to be the clever one." Thesarin nods toward Reese and walks with his wife toward the couches, settling into the gryphons beside Mia. Laric gets a short nod as he settles into the other couches, and there's another nod of greeting toward Olivia--although he doesn't match the smile; the scowl on his face looks like it might have been carved in. "Lady Ashford, aye? Thanks are taken well. No stirring heroics, just... pressing forward at the needful moment. Hope he's on the mend."
Harlan looks amused as Olivia runs over towards Thesarin, and shakes his head with amusement. To Avary, in general, he says, "It's definitely good to be back."
Avary turns to gaze at her cousin and there is a brief pause before she responds. "Time will tell, in my case, but so far yes - I would have to agree."
Reese goes to take a perching seat at the majestic couch of gryphons. She watches the dancing for a moment, but doesn't seem to be in much of a celebrating mood for whatever reason. Still she has a gentle smile for those are dancing.
Sabella twirls under Kaldur's arm and doesn't get hit with anything! It's a Great Gay Hall miracle! She smiles at Kaldur and pulls him through a couple more steps. "Lord Graham, I hope you're taking notes!" she laughs. "Last time I danced with someone I heard ringing in my ears for three days afterwards," she tells her current dance partner.
Lumen takes Ainsley's momentary lapse in attention to make an attack of opportunity. Taking up her Princely cousin's waist, she begins to lead him -- even lightly building him up into a delightful little spin under her hand. Never mind that she has to lift up onto the balls of her feet to do it.
Mia's lips parted; she was about to reply to something said to her by those seated near when Olivia approached. It took her a moment to place the woman's face, but fortunately for her, it seems Thesarin had provided the rest of the context necessary to dredge up something in her memory. "Lady Ashford. You were with us in the medical tents that night; I remember now. What an unfortunate way of making someone's acquaintance!"
Graham chuckles giving a polite bow. "Only fair then." He comments about voicing approval too late. He looks as they enter the dance floor and will step back to allow the other dancers enough room to do so. He looks back at his name spoken smiling his nod. "I will do my best not to repeat that performance then a good bar to be set." the young man answers respectfully.
No one is as surprised that this is going well (so far) as Kaldur. The red tipping his ears is working it's way down his neck, though he seems to be invigorated by the experience. "I'll aim for two, then," he grins, teeth flashing, but mostly his attention is riveted to whirling bodies and music and weaving through them. It's not unlike battle... oh dear ... another pair is whirling right at them. Ramming speed. Evasive maneuvers! Spin!

Harlan smiles towards Avary and says, "You're welcome at the House at any time, of course." He holds up a hand and says, "I know. I know. Duty." He then nods more seriously towards Avary and says, "Anytime." He has one of the servants give word towards Olivia that he's returning home for now.
Itzal, after a short pause, resumes his singing, encouraging them all to dance, and dance! What's this, is he picking up the pace? Why yes he is, and he's apparently taking for granted Tikva will rise up to the challenge and let those piano keys fly! Poor dancers.
"Yes that's right," Olivia confirms to Thesarin, giving a bob of her head. "And even so, your by the boosk non-heroic pressing forward is nonetheless greatly appreciated. I've lost to many to bear losing Harlan." Then another energetic nod. "I've been seeing to him at home. He should recover well." Mia's greeting earns a somewhat more somber look. "I would agree, Countess, that it was not ideal." Glancing back, she lifts a hand toward departing family.
Avary has left the Great Table.
Sabella is spun around again and laughs delightedly, "OKay, okay, I promised Lord Graham a dance as well so let's spin back that way since it looks like they're picking up the pace." She grins at Itzal, "You always do this! But I can pull anyone through anything, so just keep it coming!"

Kaldur laughs with Sabella and brings the twirling pair to a halt before Lord Graham. He lifts Princess Sabella's hand, "It is good to be home, Princess. I thank you for your welcome and this dance. Lord Kaldur," the young knight passes Sabella's hand to Kaldur's and steps aways, a drop of sweat beading at his brow. He puffs out a breath and eases back, watching for a while.

Lumen is overheard praising Sabella for: A charming hostess! You can barely even tell elves died here!
Graham watches the dancers gladly that there is some cheer the night had he'd not wished for the opposite to be true. He looks as the pair dance over to where he stands stepping forward. "I believe I am indeed." He comments offering a hand out to the princess he can only hope to not do poorly.

Thesarin seems, honestly, a little unsure of how to proceed in the face of sincere thanks. He's quiet another moment, and simply adds, "Your thanks are taken well, Lady Ashford. And if you were in the healers' tents with my wife, your work, twice as well."

Sabella takes Lord Graham's hand with a smile and heads out onto the dance floor. She's definitely heard this kind of tune from Itzal before, because she skips right into the steps, beaming at Graham and twirling when the music demands it. She's very light on her feet and a very good follower, "You've heard this song before?" She asks with a laugh when he not only keeps up with her, but basically pulls her through some twirls!
Ainsley pushes away from the piano, leaning down to press a kiss to his wife's temple, trying not to interrupt her playing. "I have some paperwork-- Iron Guard paperwork this time." He heaves a sigh, "I'll see you later tonight, my love."
In a low voice, Mia added quietly, "It was Dame Thena Grayhope -- Grandmaster Thena, now -- who first saw to me after, the same who tended you once. And Countess Keaton, who tried to pull me away from my swarm of attackers, before she had to give up or fall herself. The women in those tents were no warriors, my lord, but no less brave than most on the battlefield."
Michael takes a moment or two to decide anything. Quite the man of action he is...but he does eventually stand and follow after her. I mean, what better opportunity do you have to leave a party then to chase someone down?

Graham takes the hand gladly, and will step onto the dance floor though the young Stonewood is not really one to show off, not really known for doing as such but he will flourish onto the dance floor the least he can try to do is try and keep the pleasent mood of the gathering alive the best he can. He smiles though at the question "I have, I believe at a charity function at the Hart." he answers honestly.
"The Hart is the best place to pick up some of the new dances!" Sabella says with enthusiasm to Graham, giving Tikva a smile as they twirl by since she's the reason dancing is happening! "Let me know the next time you go, since clearly you're paying a lot more attention that the usual patron and there are not enough excuses to dance these days."
Olivia gives a little nod after Mia. "I certainly can't claim any part in turning back the tides." Presumably she means with sword in hand, she was with the lot praying to a tree. "But it's the least I can do to help those who do suffer injury in our defense return home in one piece." Whether sensing Thesarin's uncertainty, or simply happy to offer her thanks and leave the couple to their own affairs, she dips another little curtsey and offers them a parting smile. "You as well, Lady Olivia."
:rises up from where he's been seated, just on the edge of the grand piano's bench, and then he's off to trade words with the people who are still lingering around. "What's everyone still doing here?" he says, aloud, like you do when you're looking to be heard, "Don't you lot know it's fashionable to show up late and slink away early for a nap? No?" Somewhere he's picked up a glass of wine, and he lifts it to his lips and finishes it off. It barely even poses a challenge to the dusky-skinned Lycene.
Graham nods in his agreement with the words spoken about the Hart. "It is indeed, and I will gladly do so you are a most wonderful dancer your it would be my pleasure to do so again." He comments about reasons to dance in times of trouble which he seems to subscribe to the same idea.
"Watch out, Luca, or you're next!" Sabella calls out with a laugh, "Thank you, Lord Graham. Since I have no aptitude with fighting I hone my social skills as finely as Reese does her blade. Or I try, I'm still not that good, but I'm trying! And it's effortless considering how good of a partner you are."
Mia turned towards Thesarin at Luca's pronouncement. "I think that may be His Highness' polite way of telling us to get out of his house," she said, plain as day.
Reese rises from the couch, giving a gentle smile to those still here. "It was a very nice celebration, Princess Sabella, Thank you." She says toward her sister. "I need to get going though." She murmurs, before peeking over to Luca and giving him a smile. "Did you want to escort me?" She says, being vague about where she is going.
Whether or not people are being gently encouraged to flee, after departing the Rivens' company, Olivia finds herself without anyone to talk to and her family all gone home ahead of her. And so... "Well, I think I shall take my leave as well. Thank you again, Princess, for hosting." She also offers a passing smile to familiar faces she didn't catch up with, Reese notably, before she scurries off.
2 Ashford House Guard leaves, following Olivia.
Prince Luca glances around when he hears Mia's words, looking over his shoulder like she might be speaking about someone else. When he looks back to her, there's a grin on his lips, "Oh, no. Never! Stay all night! Drink everything! Wear the curtains home like cloaks to hide your faces, the morning after!" That's an invitation to do an awful lot, and he waggles his dark brows at her, before he's off to his wife's side, sliding an arm around Reese's waist. "I don't care what any of you do. I'm off to keep Ribbons up all night with vigorous celebrations!" And then he doesn't so much escort her, as he begins to drag her away, kissing his hand and blowing it off behind him to the remaining gathered.
"Then let's be out." Thesarin stands, and reaches an arm out to the Countess. He does take a moment to look over at Tikva at the piano. "Tikva. Heard you got yourself in trouble again. Glad you came home." He places his right fist over his heart, looking at Sabella and Graham, and giving a low nod. "You danced well. A fine show, and my thanks for hosting us."

I count tonight a success!"

Graham continues the dance at least figuring they can see to its end before giving a proper bow in respect. He nods across to his dance partner. "It is the truth, and I believe that many shared that experience of trying to find their loved ones." He agrees with her assessment of that happening. "It was a success." he smiles warmly across though noticing many have left though to be expected.
"I'm sorry that--well, we can discuss sad things at another time." As Tikva leaves the music comes to an end and Sabella does a final twirl before giving him a bright smile, "Thank you for being such a wonderful partner and agreeing to dance in the first place, Lord Graham. I appreciated it."
"There is a time for such discussions, they will be had but its nice to have a time not to think about that. If you need someone to speak to consider me available though." Graham says and offers to the other "I thank you for the same it was very nice." He smiles.
"You are quite welcome." Sabella tells him with another smile, glancing around. "It looks like we're some of the remaining few. I should see to and help with the cleanup. Thank you so much for coming and being such a wonderful dance partner."
