Relationship Note on Calista

She is so young, and so beautiful. In her eyes you will see all the temptation of the Lycem -- and all the danger of it. My sister is fond of her. I'm fond of her, too. She's a scandal, but who can resist her?

Relationship Note on Acacia

Especially if she bought it. It's my damn desk. I don't care about the specifics. Tithes or something. If she ever reads this I'm getting pelted with that whiskey flask, though. Better hide it in said desk.

Relationship Note on Acacia

I'm glad to have the girl back in town. A real Culler interested in taking part in the family is never something I'll say no to. She was born with the name. I just took it on. Maybe eventually, she'll be in charge. Maybe. But for now, she needs to keep her boots off my desk. Even if she bought it.

Relationship Note on Caprice

I have known Caprice since we were both girls. She always had a better eye for beauty than I did -- inspired by Jayus. Chosen by him, too. All my loveliest gowns are of Caprice's making, but she means so much more to me than lovely gowns. She is one of my oldest friends -- she is family.

It's an oddity, where my life has ended up. I've come to appreciate it, in a way. There's less blood now, at least. But that's not the best thing. The best thing probably that comes with where my life has ended up is the view. I can sit here, and look out over the harbor. And while others will say it smells bad, or looks disheveled, I just see home. My home. Mine. That's probably the biggest part. It's all my little family, and here I get to sit most nights, and look out over it. Watch the lanterns go out, and be left with the reflection of the moon off the waves. And in that time I'm left wondering how I got here. Selling my sword was more honest work, and that's ironic. But it was far less personal or worthwhile. The Boroughs are getting worse, though. And here I am finding time to write. Maybe I need to put my hands to better uses than a quill like the silks do. Too many maybes.

Relationship Note on Gareth

Gareth is a very intense man. He has the hard job of being both a prince of the Grayson family and a prominent member of the Inquisition. One of our first meetings was not entirely cordial, but we worked through it. I told him that I and my vassals shall support the efforts of the inquisition.

Relationship Note on Niccolo

Duke Niccolo has been nothing but accommodating since I joined House Velenosa. His refined and silent confident nature is quite reassuring and comforting. He is certainly someone that I will seek advice from in the future. While he is nothing like my father, it is nice to have a man of experience to lean on.

Relationship Note on Calista

I met this Rose of Tor while on assignment procuring the weekly tithe from one of the shop owners near the city center. A rather intriguing woman, she was not quick to flee from me as others are. A little bold in her words as well. I can see why she is considered a walking scandal. Hopefully I do not get caught up in her scandals. Or it might be fun to...

Relationship Note on Isolde

I encountered the Mirrormask, Princess Isolde Velenosa. We had a rather quaint discussion on religious theology and dogma. We disagreed on a few things. Agreed on others. Interesting but more dangerous then others know. Hopefully they never find out.

The Rose of Tor. Might have some Thorns. Will need to find out.

Victus and I went hunting today. We left in the early morning and only just managed to back it back by nightfall. My skill with the bow is by no means noteworthy, and it is true that I didn't score the best shot - but I didn't exactly miss, either! What's more, I find the deep woods most...intimidating. They are most unlike the gently rolling plains of the Lyceum. Beautiful, yes, but when you can no longer determine what direction home is, something is wrong. I must rectify this at some point.

Now, what I am about to tell you is entirely true, and it must be so because it is a sin to lie in ones journal: the reason we returned to the city empty handed is because the deer was found by a pack of wolves first. Stepping into a clearing, Victus and I were confronted by this fact to the sound of snarls and bloody muzzles. As Sentinel as my witness, I cannot tell you how I stopped the lead wolf from leaping at the throat of Victus. Aside from Death and cats, I've never really displayed much of a talent when it comes to animals. And yet...the wolf and I? We shared something. Rather than attack it simply...went back to eating.

As I sit here now, there's more than one reason tonight why I count myself blessed.

Relationship Note on Ophelia

Princess Ophelia is an excellent archer. She skewered a bird mid-flight during that competition! Way better than actually hitting the target, in my opinion. One day that hunt will actually happen so we can all see more of that action. I'd like to think we'll get along really well, I just wish she'd stop asking me questions about her brother. He's fine!

Have you ever watched a pack of wolves tear apart their prey? I did today, when out with Kima hunting. We'd tracked a deer for a while after Kima only wounded it. Between you and me, she's not the best hunter. By the time we caught up to it, someone else had gotten there first. For a moment I thought they'd turn on us when all those bloody muzzled heads turned in out direction. Big and mean timber wolves, I wouldn't have enjoyed that even if we survived. But while she's not much of a hunter, she managed to defuse the moment somehow.

Like she's some kind of wolf whisperer.

Relationship Note on Calain

When Princess Malorie was returned for us, she was dropped off by a mysterious stranger that left her with a house servant and disappeared before we could thank him. He has a name now. Prince Calain Grayson. He came to visit us the other day and look in on her. We owe him a debt we can never repay, and thankfully he strikes me as an honorable soul, who has learned a lot about the world in his travels and he seems to have every intention to leave the world as a better place than it was when he found it. I hope I can help him in this quest. It is the least I can do for him.

Relationship Note on Malorie

Returning to us 8 years after we thought her lost forever, Princess Malorie was returned to us after the attack, and for many she was was the first bit of good news in the dark months that immediately followed the Tragedy at Sanctum. She spent some time in our ancestral home of Sanctuary and has joined us here in the city of Arx. I will be glad for her assistance. She has really run with bringing the quality of Oathland steeds to the city, and it is good to see her have something to focus on. Also I won't lie, I am glad to have another of the Valardin families social butterflies here in the city. The more I can have access to someone that can cover up and diffuse my mistakes in court the better.

Relationship Note on Talen

So perhaps I did offer a harmless stabbing upon our first meeting, after all it was only an olive fork.... Luckily this charming Sword took it in the good humor it was meant and has become someone I look forward to play many more games with.

Relationship Note on Isolde

After months in Mourning the loss of Queen Genevieve, I finally made my debut return as a scion of the Whisper House. What a joy to have made this first step with non other than the Princess Mirrormask, herself. In one night I was reminded of the many beautiful joys a Whisper can behold. Thank you my beautiful Princess.

Relationship Note on Denon

Master Denon Whisper is an artist as well as a male attendant of some sort, Talen is sure. A man who speaks very little but is seen very often, there's a certain interest the Sword has in him. It's rare to see a courtier who conducts themselves close enough to Talen's standards and here's hoping that the man will prove himself as one of those. Insufficient data, so far.

Relationship Note on Larissa

Mistress Larissa Whisper is a bold woman in the right context and company; one that would offer to stab a Sword in the hand at a dinner table, if he were receptive to such humour. Luckily for the woman, Talen Artiglio is such an individual. The Sword of Lenosia had met her in the Ambassador's Salon alongside company and after a game of truth or dare he had secured on promised encounter with her for the future. The payment was more than generous, a deposit given and to be followed up on the night of the date.
