The pool party went very well. I'm not sure how much silver was raised for the orphans or refugees, I forget which it was, but I've a suspicion that it was quite a bit in the end. I contributed six thousand of my own silver to the cause, and won myself a wonderful piece of artwork done during the boat battle. I shall now have the moment in time when Prince Abbas Thrax knocked Marquis Ford Kennex into the pool forever displayed on the wall in my room.

Forever.

I was able to meet several new people at the gathering as well, and I'm looking forward to further encounters with them.

She had me undress her at a pool party. That's not something one easily forgets. Nor all my relatives yelling about how they'd run and tell my wife. Of course, I don't think she meant anything beyond harmles fun, and the woman was as charming as her position dictates.

It's been a long month. And shit, I've gone through so much whiskey... I can't even begin to count the bottles... But I am still here, regardless of everything. Here, tonight, I think of oranges and promises of sharks on my doorstep, and of rose petals upon the tongue, and it makes me want to open yet another bottle.

Good news is, been meeting some new people... hopefully it will open new opportunities and teamwork. I suppose there are plus sides to not being a full time hermit...

it has been both a wonderful, and a difficult week.

I have tried to soar free since arriving here in Arx. Tried to be like the butterfly and spread my wings. I have felt that, since I have been here; a sense of freedom unlike that which I have felt before.

Something happened this week that reminded me of the weight of chains, of how it feels to be insignificant and unwanted.

Yet, something else happened to lift me higher and smile brighter, that made me feel wanted, but also needed. And now, I know, I am forever out of the reach of chains.

I'm not very good at writing public journals, for I tend to keep most of my thoughts to myself unless I see reason to share it. But I have to say something about you. For some time now, you've been at my side, and even when you don't realize it, even when you worry, you have been my pillar of strength. You have been a partner, someone I can talk to and will listen to me. Someone that is not afraid to tell me when I could be wrong, and someone that is not shy from supporting me when I'm right.

It is impossible not to care about you, the way I've grown to care about you. It is impossible not to watch your fire, without wanting to help it burn brighter. It is impossible not to feel alive when you're at my side.

Relationship Note on Valerion

A Valardin Prince who asked me to meet sort of out of the blue. I'm glad I took it up on him, although we ended up meeting at his house's training center rather than for a drink, and then he kicked my ass in a spar. But I rather liked the fellow. I suppose it's easy for me to get along with his House. And all his various friends seemed somewhat friendly too, so I suppose I will need to visit again soon.

Relationship Note on Edain

I remember when I used to think of Edain as a young man. A young prince that lost his family, that was perhaps not ready to learn. And the truth is that he was young, but he has grown so very fast. I don't know if this was happening before or after Esera died. But while he remains a man of integrity, with deeply rooted values he protects and defends, he's grown into something else. He's become a very well versed leader, skillful and able to handle even the worst of situations. Impressing me is not an easy thing to do, and yet, the Prince of Valardin has done it.
