Since this does keep coming up:

Fireweave is not banned. You may wear it, craft with it, sell it, attempt to turn it into incredibly expensive bedding -- all of this is fine. If you bought it before the Faith spoke out against trade with Eurus, excellent; you may use it with my blessings upon your health.

The Faith has come out against trading with Eurus as a recognition of the moral ugliness of continuing to profit and enable Abyss-worshipping slavers. We do not cast judgment on trade with Eurusi that happened in the past. We do not seek to punish anyone for actions taken while we still were silent. You do not need to destroy your fireweave (I honestly doubt that you _could_ destroy your fireweave but I suppose that's neither here nor there) or hide it a secret hiding hole or immediately divest yourself of it.

The only action that we have placed this interdict upon is trading with Eurusi. This means buying _anything_ from Eurusi -- whether it is fireweave or not -- or selling anything _to_ Eurusi. But fireweave that is already here is not forbidden. It is already here.

I hope that this resolves some of the confusion that continues to persist. While I am happy to provide counsel to the Faithful on matters moral, spiritual, obscure or arcane, for the record I am not myself a merchant banker, and even when I was a businessman, I was not the particular kind of businessman who would have useful advice for anyone on individuated matters of trade.

I learned how to make a few things at the forge recently. Mostly rings.

I sent one out to Marquis Rymarr who replied with a very encouraging message.

Then I sent another to Lady Kenna who tried to return it to me initially but has opted to keep it.

Grandmaster Thena said hers was burning her finger, I'm little concerned about that one.

Marquessa Rhea does not seem to believe me that it's a ring but she said that she likes it. So I'll take that compliment and I guess I'm going to have to work on my technique...

No word yet from Lord Riagon or Lord Commander Silas.

My wife has not yet reacted to the fine boots I made for her. I spent the most time on those.

Fear can be good, it can be bad.

Jayus brings inspiration for us to act, never hinder or hold back. To grow, not to be complacent. That's the difference between intimidation and inspiration. Of nightmares and dreams.

Relationship Note on Tyrus

The wren has many admirers. Many of them have realized that her affections seem to be purchased with snacks. However, few of them take the extra step of offering them to her like proper gifts, one ripe little berry at a time. It is not the fruit that I take issue with, it is the quantity. And the delivery. At least Mistress Arcuri gives her proper seeds, in a little dish.

Not her weight in fruit.

Do you have any idea what so much fruit does to a little bird?

Please. Stop.

Relationship Note on Vanora

It saddens me to see one so loyal to the Isles be the subject of wagging tongues. I have heard what took place. I am certain that not one of those who complain so readily would know what the 'right' action should have been. The world is far more grey and complex than we want it to be. It always has been. Unfortunately, we seem to be living in a time where this is resolutely ignored.

Duchess Vanora has and always will be a loyal and brave subject of Thrax and the Compact. She is committed to the Faith. One need only look to the school House Grimhall plan to build on their lands.

Look not to sly whispers. There is no loyalty, hard work or dedication within such things. Look to Duchess Vanora's noble actions if you want a true and fair reflection of her character.

Our residence here in Arx is about as theatrics-filled as I've come to expect. Alright, maybe a little bit more so! Ah, what would this world be without my brother volunteering to take on the weight of some gruesome necessary task?

My fault entirely my lady. I am sorry for that. But it is a proof of your talents that you have crafted something so beautiful from the sea and its...varying smells.

I am so drawn to it and I do not usually indulge in perfumes. Thank you again.

Also no fish at dinner then. It is decided.

Thena, darling,

Now, while I can certainly assume my part of responsibility where the berries are concerned, I cannot do the same for muffins and other such foods. It would seem more than one person has been offering Miss Wendy the food she so obviously craves, and seemingly lacks from her home.

I believe no increased restraint is necessary, given the innocence of berries in the crimes you so vehemently accuse them of committing. Fruits such as these can only be good for her.

I learned some time ago not to apologize for the truth.

Finer minds better versed in animal husbandry than I could surely fill pages about the proper ratio of feed to work required to keep something as small in proper shape. Impromptu buffets of berries (and nuts, and seeds, and muffins) far exceed that, and there is nothing I can do to persuade her that she ought to be eating less and doing more, especially when she is so taken with her admirers.

Loyal and devoted though she might be, I must ask you to cease and desist, or at least exercise some restraint. Surely you have more self control than a wren.

I remember my mother getting exasperated with me when I would tell her that she was using the wrong gem. Or my father looking at me strangely when I would change out the ingots that would be going in someones armor. Disharmony I said. It will not be at it's finest, there will be a flaw, this will protect them better. The pieces will blend. An arrow will not pierce there where there is weakness.

They thought I was odd. They still think I am odd. My world has rarely been a quiet one, not even the sanctuary of my own home. Water has never been a delight save to drink and bathe and even then if I could avoid it, I would. The sea takes from me, has always taken from me, even when I have given it two of my children. Mangata does not favor me. But that is fine. Or maybe it is that I do not favour her?

No piece leaves my hands unless I am satisfied. Unless they sing in joy and delight, tells me they are content, satisfied and happy. Some times, sometimes that takes some time. There has been a piece that I have been working on for the better part of half a year. A piece that sits upside down upon the brow instead of rising to lofty heights. A gift commissioned for another, a celebration of life, of success and no matter how much it is denied, I am sure, affection.

No doubt that the incessant chattering about the thawed dwarves were what kept me from finishing it sooner. It has been hard, harder I should say, to pry from the stones and the metals, what they wish to be, if they are satisfied with arrangements, will they get along with one another. It has sat on the corner of my bench and I have talked with it. It with me. It was the longest that I have worked on a piece. Every now and then I would listen and then take it down, fix this. heat up that part and apply pressure just so. Less than perfection would not do. Gods alone knows he woo'd me and properly to make this piece when I was taking no commissions.

And then, I took it up one last time. I don't know why, just the urge to sit and hold it. It was the dead of the night and I should have gone home. My leg ached a little less though and so I stayed and took it down and come the morning I called him in after hours spent working and polishing. Setting in the epiphanites. If I should never, make something such as this again, I shall be fine. But this was not the stones, or the metal. This was a guiding hand.

I am exhausted. But this is a good exhaustion. I am elated.

I was hard pressed to give it up.

I give another child to the world, one of metal and gems that tells a tale of four and many score. Of a woman with dark hair and a smile who takes a hand. Of a smith who works tirelessly over her bench at delicate tasks. Of a man who works to hammer water and of many hands joining to make something beautiful.

And a woman with golden eyes. That... well. That I have no context for.

I am just odd. But I am fine with odd if this is what oddity inspires.

Calling Miss Wendy fat is surely an exaggeration, for what harm could there be in offering the good wren some berries every time we per chance meet?

Besides, she spends all her energy flying about and hopping, I'm sure. I would never call you, Lady Lora, a liar. But I must call these words on Miss Wendy's shape slanderous, and believe deserving of an apology to your loyal and devoted companion.

The joy of returning to Southport and seeing my wife Aahana and daughter Palania was tragically cut short at the news of the murder of her uncle Lord Syd Volkov.
Now she is beside herself with worry and grief and I can only pray that the perpertrators are found before Iong.
I may need to return to Arx sooner than I thought.
