I am reminded again why I prefer travel over land and not by sea.

I see we're back to seasonal discussions of whether or not winter is good. A hot topic throughout the city.

In my highly esteemed and very sought after opinion: winter is amazing.

Since I became a novice Mercy of Lagoma, I have been repeatedly and politely 'encouraged' to do a better job of setting an example by keeping a journal for the Scribes. So, there. I picked up a journal and I wrote in it. Everybody happy now? Ugh.

While it took me longer than I wanted, I have finally finished the commemorative sculpture for the Leolan Lodge Expansion (or, to use its more formal name, the Lodge of Petrichor Expansion Project), and it has been placed at our very own Leolan Lodge, outside Arx.

Yes, I'm refering to them solely as Leolan Lodges in honour of Dame Leola, scholar.

At any rate, the work was a challenge, but I enjoyed it.

Now to wait for the muse to helpfully strike so I can finish my other works...

A question to those who peruse these journals, and happen upon one woman's random curiosities:

What does the end of a story mean to you?

The baking class is this week!
I hope no one wears anything too pretty.
Or that they like.
Or expect to learn how to bake.
There will be cookies though.
Not of their own making.

Panic.

It's so nice to have winter in Arx. The cool chill and the wind sweeping through the snow reminds me of home. The whole world, a shimmering alabaster. It's also weather for the most important piece of fashion: Fuzzy scarves!

I have never enjoyed Arx in winter, and I doubt I ever will.

The silken song of Setarco calls to me, and I am grateful as ever to answer her summons.

Relationship Note on Asher

Master Asher has outdone himself with our wedding rings. He took a mere idea that I had and turned it into something so exquisite that I really can't find words to do it justice. For the rest of my life, I will be proud to wear this on my finger. He is a kind soul from top to bottom, and he seems to truly care about me - and Jules, in his way. I do so hope that he will grace us with his presence at our reception and see how well the rings sparkle together.

Now and then I volunteer at the bakery in the common courts, hauling flour or actually working the ovens. Usually there's nothing of note, folk coming for bread or muffins and the like, but someone, some volunteer baker, has been making some suspiciously shaped loaves. Two round, circular lumps wedged together in a suggstive shape, some several dozen were pulled out today and -no one- took credit for them. No one. So while there was giggling (not from me, I would never), we put them out to cool; we weren't going to waste them.

While our backs were turned, -someone- drizzled the cleft of those ... those -buns- with molasses. -Suggestive- molasses.

I've never seen food sell so quickly.

It's a day where all I hear is the wind. Howling. Making a ruckus that sounds like someone is banging around pots and such -- and then I'm wondering why the dogs got into the pantry again. Especially the little one. Lump. He's a stinker.

I recently put out a flyer for Diamonds In The Rough; it's a good placement for my store. North of the city center, not too difficult to find. I've come a long way from having no store, and then my first stall, The Silver Lining. Gods, but it's been seven years. I don't know where the time goes; honestly. It's maddening. But, to be honest, it's a good change. I've got more commissions than ever, and people coming in nearly every hour. I may not be able to keep up with it all the time, but I'll take it.

It's strange being on the receiving end of someone who doesn't like you. I find myself torn between just wanting to infect happiness to them or letting it go. I think I shall lean towards the letting go. We all have paths in life that we must walk. Those paths are important, but they are our choices. I have got to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones already this week.

It has been the most glorious of weeks and please remember that all of you are loved.

I fear that Lady Mikani and Lord Cadern are far too kind in their recent praise of me.

That is not to say that I do not appreciate it. It is just that the reasons behind such words and the generosity of such esteemed praise sometimes surprises and more often than not confuses me.

However, it goes without saying that I am humbled, honoured and so very grateful that anyone would wish to share their fine company with me.

Lady Mikani, Lord Cadern, your words touched me when I needed it most. With all my heart, I thank you both.

Relationship Note on Estaban

What would have been our fifth anniversary is coming up in a few days. Each time I play the clavichord that was a wedding gift to us from Aiden I remember and still miss you. You would be proud of your children... and maybe a combination of amused and annoyed if they hid their snowballs in your boots the way they did mine. We're moving on through life, and it is not as hard as it was two or three years ago, but you are not forgotten.

Arx, the city of dreams, is presently a city of sludge. How I've missed you.

Still, I could not have asked for a kinder or warmer welcome from old friends and new acquaintances both. Nilanza has many beauties, but even it pales to your company. Let's build something magnificent to admire in the spring.
