It has been a pleasure, however, to support the establishment of House Wyvernheart. It will serve Chevalle well to have the friendship of such stout-hearted people.

I did attend that opening of the Stormbird's Roost along with most of Arx it seemed! The place was quite lovely and had that exotic sort of scent to it that nonetheless made my mouth water. While I declined some of the more...adventurous aspects of the menu, I did quite enjoy the humus and flat bread selection! And the wines were quite lovely! I would recommend it to anyone that wanted to learn a little more about Eurusi cuisine in a lovely setting!

I cannot wait to see the Blackrose Theatre lit up again and all the seats full.

I cannot wait.

Relationship Note on Niklas

I was honored to be among the cast of Prince Niklas' newest play, the Song of Tala Everfree. It was an unforgettable experience, putting on this play all across the Mourning Isles, but I'll never forget the rush of that first curtain rise. Niklas is my favorite playwright, and I'm not just saying that because he is my patron.

Relationship Note on Jaenelle

It's not hard to find a sense of pride in the accomplishments of a dear, close friend - particularly when that accomplishment is the size of FIFTEEN CARAVELS!! The Archduchess of Lenosia has proven herself yet again to be an amazing leader, expertly capable of bringing people together to accomplish the incredible.

Fifteen. FIFTEEN! Wow.

I do hope she'll let me sail on the Seaborn Fox once the whirlpool finishes whirlpooling.

Relationship Note on Asher

A warm congratulations to all of those who were elected for the Commoners' Council. I hope that you will continue to consult me and ask for my help on your projects.

(Dear Scholar, I am a little relieved that I do not have that official position. The official positions that I do have are tiring, but rewarding.)

Asher finally received his birthday gifts. It may have been almost three months late, but I found some time in the witching hour to give him his hairpins, styled by Cocine Arcuri and his knight's favor, made by yours truly. He enjoys them both.

He helped me make a pair of bone hairpins. He let me file them myself and add beading and bells on, but I let him do the detail work. He's put a Stygian filigree in them. It seems a little silly for treated animal bone to have such expensive detailing, but at the same time... I'm a Northerner who loves expensive things, so it fits me very well. I take a good amount of pride in our finished piece of work. He and I have collaborated on projects before, and I'm sure that helped our romance blossom, but I remember now all the reasons I fell in love with him all over again. He is a good man.

While it is a delight to be rejoined with family, I already miss the decadence of the Silken City. I pray the parties here can hold a candle to the revelry I am fondly accustomed to. Don't let me down, Arx.

And so the world has turned full circle.

From a Prince to a nameless slave, to a champion, to a guard, to an aide, to a free man, and now restored to a Prince.

I sit here in the Shrine of Skald and I ponder. There are some who would hold that an oath of fealty is a chain that binds us, and at its worst it is - when a lord is cruel or unjust, or makes mock of the gods, an honourable person being sworn to such is a chain. And yet even at the worst of moments, such a chain can be broken. Not without consequences, but it can. When the people between whom such an oath is sworn are just and generous and think of the people before the self, then such a tie can make both parties greater than they were before.

This, I think, is a part of Skald's lessoning. There is such a thing as too much freedom, and life without some form of fealty - no shelter, no home, no recourse but what is given of the generosity of others, or earned by the sweat of the brow - is a freedom and yet a chain of its own.

Relationship Note on Jaenelle

Fifteen caravels is no small feat and the Archduchess Regent needs to be applauded for her efforts in organising the shipbuilding.

I am very grateful for the new Magnotta caravel, the Sirocco and plan to have it put to good use as soon as possible.

Work continues on establishing High Hill. The good news is that the long months of carving through the countryside are mostly resolved, and thus we may move on to the long months of making the land livable for civilized people. The fields must be made to take the plow and the mills brought to speed. Count Richard will no doubt prove himself a fine and capable leader, but it is the role of the elders in the family to help with the hard and difficult work. A strong High Hill will make for a strong Chevalle, and in doing so strengthen our Compact a whole. It is good and honest labor. I relish the opportunity to aid our people.

Well, I've certainly now spent a considerable amount of time in quiet contemplation and prayer. I plan to soon make myself more available day to day, and will be glad to reply to any missive sent seeking counsel without undue delay.

If it's an issue too delicate to put to ink, you'll find me at the Shrine of Jayus with a pot of tea already steeping and paints at the ready.

So it's finally happened. Drake, richard and I are finally officially Wyvernheart. Never have I been filled with such pride and hope. We owe a great deal of thanks to many. First to Dominique Marquessa and Marquis Calariian for entrusting us with this responsibility. To Legate Bianca and lady Tesh Telmar for their invaluable assistance. To members of the Blanchard household Verity Locke and our cousin Lord Jordan and finally to Count Philippe Blanchard. His guidance and support in these past months cannot be overstated. It may be some time yet before we can host a proper gathering of thanks but they have my heart from this moment. may wyrmguard, wyvernheart, and blanchard continue to grow and to prosper

I heard about the sucess of Prince Niklas latest play and it brings a smile to my face. Though I am a disciple of Vellichor and not Jayus, I have alays taken pleasure in the power of words and the arts to move the soul and admire those who use their pen while others ready their swors. My his words draw people together into the light lest the fall in the waiting arms of darkness
