Relationship Note on Bliss

Silk is low quality? I must have been dirt poor when I was a Thrall, a silk shirt would have been nice to keep me cool in that summer heat! Could never dream of buying silk back then. Now I sleep on it every night!

Thinking about it, though it would be expensive as shit, aeterna would make great sheets for a bed. You could drink wine on your bed with no worries!

How strange to be so passionate over silk. It feels strange. I never liked it. Too delicate and flimsy.

Fur is far more lovely. I hug Tempest and Atila and stroke their coat. I admit I'm jealous of it.

I wish I had fur. I suppose the hair on my legs will do for now.

Relationship Note on Eleyna

Well. Since silk is apparently so low quality, I suppose I can have all my people halt the harvesting. That will, of course, mean also halting the production of seasilk, umbra, and aeterna... given that all three items base material is 'just silk'. I'm sure they will be happy for the respite from the silk fields. Perhaps we can instead turn them into good farmlands instead. I understand oils and butters are quite popular right now.

Silk is 'low-quality' now?

That's cute.

Thoughts about heroes:

They are very different from peacocks. They don't strut, they don't hang portraits of themselves in their homes, and they are mostly sotto voce. They don't create whirlwind scandals and are a socialite's worst nightmare. I have often wondered what makes a person's life or his or her individual actions heroic to the point where their legacy stands the test of time. Lately, however, I have wondered more how the heroes of old would react to the world of today.

Relationship Note on Fairen

When choosing your spot for a duel,
it's best if you don't play the fool.
If you think a marquis
can be cut off at the knees,
then for Gods' sake don't let the thought cool.

Always pick the spot that's best
to harness your strength to the test.
Don't think a man weak
or that vic'try you seek
will go not to you, but the rest.

On this date, 3/11/1009 AR, let it be known that Marquis Leary is not half as terrible at throwing snowballs as I thought. Perhaps he is still a quarter as terrible, but he was skilled enough at it to hit me in the face with a snowball, ending our debate over the matter.

I suspect people wonder sometimes why I'm so outspoken. Expressing disappointment discreetly simply does nothing. Even when I am actively working to cause less of a scene - well. Someone's sure to go public. So why bother?

Allow me to clarify, since it's not particularly a secret who was upset today.

The outfit which Whisper House ended up sponsoring today felt, to me, like a disappointment. Why?

It was an absolutely, stunning, beautiful work of art, and the silk and its adornments were crafted in a way that would have left me breathless and praising Jayus in any other context. Melody wore it beautifully, and it looked stunning on her, and that is a memory I will carry for the rest of my days. The incredible amount of hard work and skill that Dame Morrighan put into the pieces is clear, and they would easily be things I would be proud of owning and wearing myself, without question.

But they weren't what I thought I was paying for. I paid for the best - and while the outfit was beautiful, the simple fact of the matter is that silk pales against aeterna and umbra. This really isn't arguable, no matter how well done the work is. The sheer low quality of the fabric was the disappointment.

Everything else about the gown put everything else in the show to shame.

I offer my sincerest apologies to Dame Morrighan if she thought it was anything about her work that upset me.

Relationship Note on Paige

I knew her only very little. She bore a kindness to a friend at his lowest. That one small gesture spoke of so many more. We are poorer for her return to the Wheel, but I take comfort that the future will know her like again.

Oh. It was. I didn't even realize. Time gets away from me, occasionally I just don't realize how swiftly it passes by. Sorry Perce, but I'm thrilled to hear that she loved it.

Relationship Note on Paige

Good gods, people.

I am sure Countess Paige was nice and all but nobles need to stop coming down to the Lowers chasing things and dying.

Be smart. Come for Darts and Drinking night (sponsored by Murder of Crows, Arx's oldest drinking establishment!) but otherwise stay out!

It's more living for you. Less Inquisitors and Iron Guard for us.

Everyone wins.

Relationship Note on Morrighan

I've waited - months, years - for a very specific style of gown that I was sure Dame Morrighan would never make again. However, she did, and with a thoughtfulness that was stunning -- she contacted me so that I could purchase it for Khanne. She looks ethereal in it. More importantly? Her entire face lit up with happiness. Some? Most? All? Of her clothes have been made by Dame Morrighan and she adores every piece for the care, the level of detail, and the elegance they are.

Yes, it was very clear that you had no idea what happened to it. I'm just happy you pulled it off.

The jewelry.

I mean, that you-

-...nevermind.

I think Archlector Wylla is a new fan, by the way. Be sure to hug her. Often.

Cheap? That's an odd thing to say about your work, which is nothing short of masterful. I wear the outfit you made specially for me - and put much time and effort into ensuring it was precisely what I wanted - quite proudly. Very bizarre.
