I will admit that it has been a long time since I heard those words and they tended to be words that I heard from the word of my youngest and of the men who married my daughters. Very strange to hear it from another's mouth. Am I seen like this? I suppose. I'm much older than some of the young things plying their trades. And oh what trades they ply. Some of them I admit, makes me envious. I am delighted in my own but it does not stop me from procuring this and that from others. Even their jewelry.

Both though ignorance and a bit of stubbornness, I had completely missed the upcoming masq at the Menagerie, particularly considering my own house is hosting. Fortunately for me, someone was available to help and had a costume that would suit me near to completion. Problem avoided...this time.

I still can't feel my toes.
I'm not sure how Princess Reese, Princess Coraline and Lady Lethe lasted so long in the water. I got in to my waist and it felt like my heart was going to freeze solid and stop. I don't remember much after that, but it seems I turned back and scrambled to shore.
Yay for my sense of self preservation and thank you to Duke Vercyn who dragged me out. Your beard remains magnificent.

I think I might be getting a better idea on what direction my life will take. Since I can't haul my family with me all over Arvum, then it is I who must change.

The trade route was a smashing success! I am happy to hear the merchant fleet is unharmed and well on its way to making a dominant first impression upon the new trade way. Now if I only had some cogs! Must visit Princess Katarina's ship yards to see if she had some I can libera...I mean convince to join me....

Gone I tell you, all gone. A rare lovely succulent honey melon freshly carved and diced for breakfast. I had turned to compliment (ahem) Clover on how stunning she looked this morning, then turn around and near all the melon was gone. What we were treated to was some form of monster sitting at the table. It's cheeks were huge! I mean distended more than a chipmunk's, and streams of melon juice mingled with profuse drool soaking its clothing. Who is this monster who replaced the Banshee of Arx and more importantly, give me back my melon you thief!!!

Princess Elgana is one of my favorite people. No matter what else is going on in my life or Arvum at large, I can always count on her to share a drink with me and talk for a little while about things no one's life depends on. Work is work, but sometimes it's nice to think about something else for a while.

I woke up this morning with sore arms - I did not realize that chucking logs would be such a workout.
Violet and I went to the Clearlake Festival last night. It was interesting to watch how the Northern lands celebrate Spring as compared to the Isles and Valardin. I'd like to think I acquitted myself rather well.
Though I always seem to do better when Violet challenges me. That is something I need to keep in mind.
And a reminder to myself to go learn some new survival skills for travels to come.

Either I was more drunk than I thought I was, someone slipped something into my drink, or I really did lose a bet, go looking for people in the woods, and see some hulking great white thing with four legs and huge pointy teeth turn into a cloud of choking, foul-smelling smoke.

I am making the gala prizes. They are taking a lot of my time and pushed back some of my orders. But the will be epic and the most amazing prizes given at a party yet in my memory.
