Know your worth. Neither boast of it nor tolerate those who doubt it.

I can vouch for Lady Clara's teas. Never had a better night's sleep.

It is nice to be back in the city once more. I have been too absent. I really ought to go out more, see my friends whom I have not seen in a long while. I do hope they are fairing well.

Your heart for strawberries? I'm sure you are plenty sweet already? If these dreams take on any horrific feelings I do have a tea that might be able to aid you.

Freedom. What is it worth to you? What would you do in order to remain free? This is a question that has recently come to mind, and though i certainly don't expect anyone to answer, even if they see my journal, still, it bears thinking on. It might even be relevant to current events somehow.

The lesson of the week: if you have to tell other people that you are <funny, kind, generous, intimidating, beautiful, witty, ect> there is a good chance you're not. It is about your actions not your words.

I might have opinions on fashion but I can't say that I have ever turned someone from my shop because they wanted something designed a certain way. Is that not the point, really, of everyone being different? Liking different things?

Please enjoy what you enjoy without worrying about what others see as in or not. Love colors. Love fabrics. Love art.

Black is classic, slimming and never goes out of style.

On fashion:

Trends may come and go, but classic style is classic and by no means boring. I favour classic designs that can be worn to multiple occasions. The key to building a wardrobe is versatility. While I would love to wear a new gown every day, that simply isn't feasible. Accessories make the outfit: build a collection of basic but beautiful jewelry that you can swap around and you cannot go wrong. And be sure to have appropriate clothing for the location you're going. Like many Whispers, I am often in upscale surroundings, though as a bard, I can find myself in rowdy taverns, too. Do not wear your ballgown to sing drinking songs unless it would be amusingly subversive. When in the Redrain ward, for example, leathers and fur are quite a bit more fashionable than seasilk and aeterna. And feathers. I do love feathers.

My outfits for grander performances tend to be more unusual and not necessarily appropriate for day-to-day wear. These are my statement pieces, meant to stand out, but even then, I try to purchase garments I can wear more than once. They are part of the performance.

Regardless, clothing can be considered an investment. Strive for quality over quantity, versatility over fads. I will also admit to liking silk very much, as it is readily available, relatively easy to work with, and makes for some absolutely stunning garments. Even yellow ones.

Relationship Note on Jayden

The College has proven lucky once again. Lord Jayden Ravenseye essentially showed up on our doorstep with a beautiful viol and said he wished to work with the College. We have a dedicated instrument maker, one that seeks no stipend nor any proceeds from his work. He will also take an apprentice if he so desires.

To say this is fortuitous is quite the understatement.

The interest and support in the College is phenomenal, and it moves with such speed as to make me breathless. I thought it would be a much more difficult path. The city is eager to fill a curious void.

Relationship Note on Violet

I find myself sitting up in the bed, watching Violet as she sleeps. She has been encouraging and supportive since we repaired our relationship.

We're excited for the idea that within her, a little seed has taken root.

We cannot let the world dictate what we do with our lives.

Found ourselves last night discussing names before bed - and realizing how different Redrain and Valardin names are. There may yet be a compromise somewhere.

And no, 'Beech' in any form is not an option.

Relationship Note on Felicia

The window that Dame Harrow was creating for the Mangata Festival is complete.

It is breath-taking and gorgeous.

I hope that Princess Reese enjoys it as much as she did her victory in the endurance test.

Felicia perfectly captured the cold of the water, while also holding the beauty of it. I am glad that she was willing to do this commission for me. If you ever have the chance to purchase one of her stained glass projects, I would highly recommend it.

Relationship Note on Eleyna

I understand fashion, even if it's not something I personally much give a shit about. Even in remote northern tribes, you have fashions. Art styles. I miss the ones I grew up with, if only because they were more familiar. But fashion trends? Fashion trends are a bunch of competitive nonsense (usually rich) people make up to combat boredom and use to sneer at others who don't or can't conform fast enough. I'll grant you that it makes a lot of other people a lot of coin when these folk scramble to fill up their wardrobes with more clothes and goods than they'll ever need or wear, but what a fucking waste of resources all spent so that people can see how fast they can play follow the leader. At least do something personal and unique with that kind of energy, instead of obeying some arbitrary list of what's momentarily popular.

We hope that with memories, knowledge will come. From knowledge, we then expect understanding. Yet for every answer you find, more often than not, a thousand new questions arise.

All that we were has led us to where we are, but tells little of where we are going.

There are those whose strength is exceedingly rare. They aren't easy to pick out among a crowd, because they reveal nothing. They are quiet. They often believe themselves to be much weaker than they are, in fact. Yet when pushed too hard, they surprise themselves with the realization that they will not back away another step, that a wall has risen within their soul, unyielding, a barrier that cannot be passed. To find someone such as this is a most precious discovery.

It has been nearly three years since the Siege of Arx ended. I remember that battle for many things but, largest in my life, it was it was after it that I was asked by House Riven to take up the duties as Sword of the Twainfort. I have carried the Twain with as much honor and commitment to my tribe and sworn lieges as I know how. Long before I became Sword, I was a sworn knight, and a soldier without title before that. Such service has been my life for nearly fifteen years, since I was old enough to hold a blade and call myself a blood warrior. I pray I have executed my duties to my House as a knight in a way that does good service to Limerance.

But before I was a Sword, a knight, a warrior, I was a follower of the gods of the Pantheon. The stories of Gloria my grandfather told me still sing in my heart when times are darkest. My faith was the foundation of my life after I bent the knee, when all else seemed uncertain. In my youth I considered becoming godsworn, but I could never reconcile my commitment to my tribe and want of a family with the demands of the priesthood. I have sought other ways to serve, especially as a disciple of Gloria. My appointment as disciple leader a few months past was one of the proudest moments of my life. But it also made me think long on my commitments, and my calling at this time in my life.

And so, I've decided to put aside the Sword, to focus on my work with the Faith. There are many fine knights in the Twainfort, and I'm sure one of them will serve Countess Mia and Count Thesarin admirably. While I shall perhaps never be able to make the full commitment those brothers and sisters of the godsworn do, I will be dedicating myself to my discipleship on a full-time basis. There is only so much a lay worshipper can do, but I can do more and want to do more. I hope this focus will aid the Templars as they rebuild after the grave losses at Stormwall, and aid my own soul as I explore my connection to Gloria and try to live up to her virtues.

In the coming months I intend to undertake pilgrimages throughout Arvum and get to know the people in the various Templar parishes throughout the Five Kingdoms. To understand how those of different paths and backgrounds embrace their faith, and to use my knightly service in aid of the common folk, regardless of fealty. I shall still work primarily in Arx, of course, with Sir Preston and Archlector Cassandra, as they would have me. And I can't leave my husband alone for very long. So, I shall be around. I pray I find good service with the realm and the goddess of war, so well as I can.

The water was so cold, I still don't know how anyone managed to do more but run in, and then right back out again. Me, I thought my toes were going to fall off! They didn't, in case anyone was worried. I hope Mangata liked the event as much as the rest of us did.
