As people start to gather in the Audience Hall, the Prince of Sanctum emerges from the wing that houses the living quarters. His traditional, robe that is the hallmark of a Valardin knight draped over his shoulders. Herald Steve clears his throat and announces, "Edain Valardin, Prince of Sanctum." as he enters. The Prince looks around and and announces, "Thank you for coming. THere is food and refreshment if anyone would like anything." In fact the map table does have a little buffett set up along it. "If anyone has business with house Valardin today, I am happy to hear you out."

Marian arrives just as Edain is arriving so she manages to catch his speech. She motions to Steve to let him know that she has business with her former High Lord. Then she moves to get a drink and see who else is at court. Even though she has marryed out of the family, she still bears family ties to the house.

As the people began filtering inside, a pair of snowy haired identical twins stride inside engaged in quiet conversation. One is gentle smiles and courteousness incarnate, much more excitable and animated than the other. The other walks a little bit behind the more energetic twin and just nods along, seeming a tad bit distracted as she peers about lazily. The announcement of the Ruling Prince is given it's proper due of respect by both before the armored sister begins dragging the other towards the buffet with big eyes. Astraea takes a bow when she's within sight of Edain, waving lightly to Marian but otherwise stuffing her face.

Sparte isn't Valardin, just some Iron Guardsman who decided to show up. He is there to observe and learn, maybe? He even brought a friend. He settles in with Wilhelm off in the back. A bit obvious in how out of place he is, but at least civil enough to sit quietly. He appears to be holding a stuffed doll in the likeness of a certain pygmy goat, eyes drawn towards the original article and back to the one in his hands every so often.

Long legs carry the Princess Isidora to be the epitome of grace and beauty. While she attempts to appear the stoic calm of Valardins her honey shaded eyes always give her away too much and too often. She moves into the area with an easy manner and that serene smile on her expression. There is only a slight pause as she looks to see who is here. It seems the Princess is still debating if she should bring up such business to the public at large. For now, she moves towards the buffet to get a drink of juice and some bacon. Lovely lovely bacon. "Marian.." The tone is warm as she greets her cousin.

The quieter of the twins, Amarantha lurks behind her sister. She's not as quick to go for food and instead seems to study the crowd, looking for anything interesting. Unfortunately, her arm is entwined with her twin's. So the blonde is stuck in place for now, expression a bit dour.

Marian gives a nod to the twins who are part of her house, "Ladies." She gives a smile to her cousin Isidora, "You look lovely." She gives a wink over at Sparte who looks like he's trying to settle in, "I still haven't seen you at the Gauntlet my friend. When are you going to bring some Iron Guard and do some training with me." She takes a sip of her drink and still watches for Steve's hand that she may approach her brother.

"There is tea and wine and some of the best cider from Lyon's Redoubt. The maple bacon was freshly candied this morning. Also for those that desire something lighter, there is some kind of chopped veggies and light cheeses wrapped in grape leaves. It has a name, but I couldn't pronouce it. They are very tasty." Edain says as he plugs some of the treats that are out for people to sample. He bows his head to Isidora and says, "It is lovely to see you cousin as always." There is a bow for twins and for Sparte as well, "Greetings, please make yourselves at home." And finally then to Princess Marian, "Any day that you decided to visit us is a good one Princess Marian. What can I help you with?"

Quenia makes her way into the open court, with a curious glean to her eyes. Also, perhaps, because she'd been encouraged earlier by someone to visit the Valardin High Lord. She is stopped soon enough by one of the halberd-wielding armsmen, who questions her briefly, and before she is allowed to go any further he announces, "May I present Marquessa Quenia Igniseri of Velenosa Fealty come to attend the Open Court today!" Not used to such displays or announcements, a rosy pink blush crosses Quenia's features and she looks slightly mortified.

At Marian's greeting, the armor clad twin smiles and gives her a respectful nod of her head. "Good morning Marian, it's good to see you whole and well." Another fond smile is offered her before she gives Spart and the others a wave of her own, even though she's like ten feet away. It's Quenia's name that draws her attention though. Quickly turning her head toward the entryway and practically grinning from ear to ear as she waved her over. "You should really try the candied bacon cousin!" Once again her attention is back to the Prince of Sanctum as she blushes now,"I admit, your Grace, that I came for the food. I don't have any complaints or concerns. I think you're doing an amazing job at managing your lands and your House." Astraea quiets down at the end and clears her throat before slowly turning back to the buffet.

Marian steps froward to her brother and then gives a curtesy to show him respect, "Prince Edain, thank you for seeing me." She looks at her former high lord, "Has Princess Katarina had a chance to update you on our recent voyage? On our encounter with the Herald of the Maw of Sea, Prince Koraj Marin?"

Sparte seems a bit surprised to be bowed at by Edain, cheeks reddening a bit as he gives an awkward bow in return before retaking his seat. Wilhelm seems amused, muttering something into Sparte's ear that gets him a soft nudge in the ribs with an eblow.

10 King's Own Guardsmen, Zelda, the royal messenger arrive, following Alaric.

"Candied bacon." Amarantha mutters from behind her sister. Leaning over to glance at the food, she seems hesitant. The bacon is overlooked, as is the mystery leaf wrapped fingerfoods. Eventually, she simply grabs a glass of cider. "Marquessa Quenia, good to see you again." Slipping her sister's grasp, Mara wanders over to her cousin with a soft smile.

Isidora smiles towards Marian and towards Edain. Her smiles fade away almost as soon as they appeared to settle to something more calm. Her eyes move to one twin and then the other. Then back again as her chestnut brows lower a bit more on her features. One can easily tell she's trying to determine if they look identical like she thinks they do. "Good day..." The name is supplied by those that granted entry, "Lady Sanna, Princess Redrain. I do not believe we have had a chance to meet yet, I am Princess Isidora Valardin." Her smile moves towards Quenia and Sparte as well. When Marian speaks, that is where her attention follows.

Satisfied he's done his job well, the armsman moves off to watch over the proceedings. Quenia takes a moment to compose herself into something less mortified before she moves closer to Astraea once beckoned over. "Maple bacon you say? I believe I recall Prince Aurelain mentioning something of the sort during one of our various interactions about the city," she says as she takes a moment to curtsey before the High Lord of the Sanctum, since the armsman announced her and all.

Sir Rhys, a Valardin Knight arrives, following Alis.

"Thank you Princess Astraea, that is very kind of you to say. I only hope I can serve my people as well as my father and my older siblings did." Edain says nodding his to her again and then to Amarantha, "Lady Amarantha it is good to see you as well." The Prince turns then to Marian and says "She sent me word that it was dire tidings indeed, but that there was more to tell me that she would prefer to share in person." His pleasant tone has become more grave at her qu estion and says, "From all that has happened recently it is clear direct confrontation with him is coming quickly."

Astraea gave a wily looking smile to Isidora, composing herself and giving her a proper knight's bow. "Oh my, another Valardin princess. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance your highness. Your House is most honorable and no doubt filled with the best of us." She gives another nod of the head before turning to engage Quenia, giving a little side eye to her sister for ditching her. "Yes, maple bacon. I know. I know. It's marvelous right?" The warmth radiating from her intensifies as she takes her cousin's hand and leads her to the table. Presenting it like it's a treasure trove. "Behold. Bacon. The good stuff." Edain is given a nod of acknowledgement. "I believe in you, your Grace." After that exchange Astraea is back to the buffet table with her cousin. Muttering delightfully about the dishes as quiet as she can.

"I agree with Princess Katarina that it is coming soon," Marian agrees with him with a hard look on her face, "Even with his daughter's sacrifice for our safety, I do not believe that will stay his hand from Arx." She lowers her voice and growls something to Edain under her breath. It's clear that the encounter has inflamed her anger. She glances at the others, perhaps forgetting that they were there in her intensity, "I would like to be there when Princess Katarina discusses it with you."

Bianca was her usual vision of white, having traded out her summer robes in favor of the thicker materials of leather and fur. Her hair had been woven into a thick plait, its braid trailing forward over her shoulder from beneath a fur-lined cowl. She would await the usual announcement upon entry (which hopefully wasn't belted over the current conversation), unbothered by the pomp and circumstance of Oathlands' tradition. After which, she stepped to the side of the vast room to observe those already present and gain bearings of current topics at hand.

The arrival of the advance guard of the King's Own in their rather distinctive tabards generally makes it hard for the King of the Compact to sneak up on anyone and certainly today is no exception. Oh room desc halberd-wiedling armsman in full plate mail! It is your time to shine! Alaric arrives and stands with his typical regally engaging smile as his full list of titles is indeed rattled off in an unmistakably grand fashion. Having been duly introduced he then steps forward into the hall proper with a surreptitious nailed-it! wink for the armsman on heralding duty. "Pardon my late arrival. Good day, Your Grace," he declares politely to Edain with a personable smile all around as he makes his way to the wine so as not to interrupt the current conference.

Isidora smiles at Astraea. "I must admit my bias to the house Valardin, but I also cannot say that you are wrong." She gives a light tease to the other woman as she looks at the others. When the King enters, that is when Isidora's young age shows. For there is a widening of her brown eyes and her cheeks immediately flare with color as she quickly drops her lashes and gives a curtesy. Someone thinks someone is handsome.

From the wing of the family's suites and rooms is heard a shriek of not-quite-infant anger. And then the sound of an exasperated mom trying to shush her. It's followed by an even more stubborn howl and then a muttering of breath, before. "Alright, alright!" And the two knights guarding the entrance to that wing step aside when Alis taps on their armor. Just in time to see Bianca's arrival, and the King's. She gives them all an apologetic smile as she holds a cleasrly unhappy child, stepping right up to Edain and holding out the baby for him to take. "Here. She tried looking in your room for you, and then howled when she couldn't find you." Ellara's face lights right up when she sees her uncle and her little arms reach riiiiiight out for him. Which makes the martial princess huff a little in exasperation. "Sorry! Sorry for the noise, everyone. Really sorry."

Bianca moved to greet Alaric at the table with the wine! She remained a polite distance though tone became hushed in her greetings. You can bet your but she was going to be heading for that baby the first chance it needed a pair of fresh arms! A gracious smile tipped to Alis at her apologies.

Alaric has joined the a majestic brown oak table with a map of Arvum carved into the surface.

Quenia starts to say something in reply to Astraea, but that is cut short by Alaric's arrival. Instead, her attention goes to the king and she gracefully issues another curtsey as he and his retinues. She holds it for the proper amount of time, then rises once more, offering Alaric a warm smile in return along with a nod of greeting. To Astraea, she says, "I'm sure the bacon is wonderful, though I'm more interested in the meal of information we may receive today than the food itself. For instance, this talk of the Herald. I've been a bit lacking on information there, other than what was supplied to me by a dear friend." She waves a greeting in Amarantha's direction as well, not to leave her other cousin out of things. She looks around to see if there is perhaps a line that is forming for those that want to address Edain.

Bianca has joined the a majestic brown oak table with a map of Arvum carved into the surface.

"Prince Edain." Amarantha acknowledges with a polite bow. And then she's off, following after her family with her glass of cider "Don't eat all the bacon, love." The blonde gently chides her sister. The new arrivals garner a curious stare but little else, with Mara's attention caught by Quenia's words. "While I'm sure the information is very intriguing, I'm afraid I'm quite out of the loop. What is a Herald exactly?" She murmurs between sips of cider.

"Oh well I think we all share a little bias to the House we owe our fealty too, but I can see how it might be easy when you're surrounding by good people." With that being said the redrain princess seems to track the arrival of the Archscholar, nodding to Quenia in agreement as she stared for a while longer. "You're right cousin. Forgive me for not seeing the value of such an exchange, would you excuse me? I absolutely need to speak with you sometime today, if you can manage." Kissing both of her cousin's cheek, Astraea throws a look to Amarantha and begins to make her way towards the entrance, politely offering hasty farewells.

Edain turns to Alis and the upset Princess Ellara and takes the little bundle of princessly energy into his arms, "Listen to that little dragon roar. Come here Ellara and tell Uncle Ed all about your morning." he says as he bounces her and balances her in his arm. He gives her a second to calm, and then looks to Marian, "Of course Princess Marian, we can make that happen. Princess Caelis should probably join us as well. But yes we will all speak soon." Looking to Alaric, he bows his head as he holds, Ellara, who is currently grabbing at his beard, "Thank you for honoring us with your prescence your Majesty. There is plenty of food and drink if you wish something." He smiles to Amarantha and says, "Do not worry if you sister eats all the bacon. If we run out of bacon that just means we have a great excuse for an impromptu boar hunt." He says being gracious beside the heavy topic in the room, "As for what a Herald is.. I think there are those here that can explain that far better than I can."

Quenia bites her lip a moment as she considers how to respond to Amarantha. She lowers her voice so as not to upset anyone around them with chatter.

Marian forces that frown off her face so she can smile at her sister, Alis, who's arrived with her daughter, "Oh Princess Alis, if I realized my neice was going to be here I would have brought Nia here." She gives her a wink and then turns back to Quenia with a surprised look, "A demon...rather powerful one. Usually they're used to lead hordes." Marian's description is blunt but it at least gives the lady an idea. She gives a nod to Edain as he tells her that Caelis should be present, "Of course." She then moves away to let others take up her time as she makes her way over to pay respects to her king.

Isidora moves towards the table with her food, but she's not yet eating it. Her own cheeks just seem to intensify with color as she looks at that plate and then Bianca. There is a fond smile towards Alis and Ellara though.

"I suppose I should follow her." Amarantha says apologetically to Quenia. The blonde shoves a few slices of bacon into a napkin, placing that bundle into her bag before trailing off after her sister.

Hey, as soon as she gets what she wants, Ellara calms right down. And look at all the /people/! She immediately begins babbling nonsense words, dutifully telling Edain all about her morning. One can only imagine the things she has to say, since the only words that make sense are the occasional 'mama' and 'dada'. "Princess Marian. I'm so glad to see you." Alis has a fond smile back for her, and then a grin and a wink for Isidora and Bianca. Perhaps a more solemn nod of greeting for Alaric. And for those she hasn't yet met she lifts a hand to wave.

Bianca gestured in clear invitation to Isadora to join them, "Indeed we should.".... but there was something there was something that caught her eye. The Archscholar had never moved so briskly, crossing the hall to Edain AND THE BABY YAY! as an offer to hold was made. She held out her arms to little Ellara rather than just snatch her away from Edain, just in case the little one was prone to explode into tears in the presence of a stranger. She leaned a short whisper to Alis.

Bianca has left the a majestic brown oak table with a map of Arvum carved into the surface.

Or, Quenia does not - in fact - whisper to Amarantha for she follows after her sister soon after. The Marquessa is left standing alone, a single brow raised at the backs of the departing twins, and then she shakes her head and turns back to the open court before her. She wanders away from the food table and goes to stand where she can be unobtrusive.

If Agnarr tries to be surreptitious about his intentions to take advantage of any refreshment laid out, it is ruined by the massive northman's meagre titles being announced. Snorting irritably, he is not deterred from his task.

Kit, the grey fox, a tiny man with a BIG unpronounceable name arrive, following Monique.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Quenia before departing.

When NEW PEOPLE!!!! arrive, Ellara starts babbling in, Bianca's direction, and Edain gently passes her into the Archlector's arms, "This is the Archlector of Vellichor, Ellara, you can learn all kinds of cool things from her." he kisses the top of his nieces little head as Bianca takes her. He turns back to Marian and puts a hand on her shoulder, "We'll meet with Katarina together and see what is to be done next." Edain says. He looks about the room and says, "Does anyone else have any business they wish to discuss with the Valardin Throne today?"

Sparte watches the people interacting attentively. He is still sitting off with Wilhelm, minding his own business. Every so often Wilhelm whispers something to Sparte, redirecting his attention or giving an unasked clarification. It seems Sparte is using this event as an opportunity to get some insights into how nobility interacts with one another. He is still holding that plushy in the likeness of Timmons, though.

Ellara has seen that Uncle Highlord is just fine, so she isn't going to fuss about being picked up by someone else. Though obviously the first thing she will do is look for something shiny to try and grab, including hair. Because baby. And, continue to look around so she can always see that her uncle and her mother are in sight. Soon, she will start looking for 'dada' and then all hell will break loose. But for now? Why look, she's a little angel. Alis, meanwhile, whispers back at Bianca, and then tries to get a grasp on what conversations are happening. So she can tell if there is anything she needs to pipe up about. "Don't forget me. I want to be there too!" she pipes up, about meeting with Kat.

Marian takes the opportunity to step away, leaving the hall just as more people are arriving. She heads off to the chapel to say a few prayers before taking her leave. There is a troubled look on her face.

Ender, a Silver Gyrfalcon, Ursa leave, following Marian.

No business to be had with the lordly sorts, Agnarr does however catch sight of Sparte present, and begins to head over, tucking his sallet underarm and promptly stating : "Same as any gathering of them, I reckon. May as well handle that matter of .. the thing."

Bianca was quick to bounce Ellara in her arms, a brilliant smile bore by the albino woman brightening her features all the further as she pulled her necklace from her robes so the child could play with it over tugging on those long white locks. Bianca would stay where she was near Edain and Alis, murmuring something to the Highlord between joyous mumblings with Ellara.

Alaric raises his wine glass lightly. "I understand you had some interest in the results of the tests of our interesting new ballistae, Your Grace. If you'd like to discuss it, I'm certainly available," he calls over toward the throne from his refreshment-table discussions with Isidora.

Quiet, a Valardin champion, Aioni, a regal snowy white owl arrive, following Katarina.

Quiet, a Valardin champion, Aioni, a regal snowy white owl leave, following Katarina.

Quiet, a Valardin champion, Aioni, a regal snowy white owl arrive, following Katarina.

Edain bows his head to Alaric and says, "Your Majesty I would be incredibly interested in those results. Even if we can never recreate them, I feel like anything we can learn of them is a gift that can be a great help to us."

Serenity, Drysi, a young shaman apprentice, Champ, a pygmy goat of excellence arrive, following Khanne.

Quenia gives Marian a nod and a smile of thanks when she realize the princess was able to rattle off a description of a Herald to Amarantha before she had a chance to speak to her cousin prior to her leaving. Seeing that there is not, in fact, a line anywhere to address Edain, she approaches him - and awaits until she is noticed before she says to Edain, "I have met with your cousin Prince Aurelian on several past occasions, and during those occasions she suggested that perhaps you and I have something in common, your grace. Like you, I obtained my title and the leadership of House Igniseri through some rather unfortunate to me circumstances. My brother, Marquis Vincere Igniseri, and his twin, Lord Pietro, died at the battle of Pridehall, sacrificing their lives to save others, and the house was willed to me in their death. He suggested that you could lend some insight on your experiences in suddenly leading a house and make suggestions on things that one might need to know to help put the pieces back together, so to speak. I was hoping, as time allows, if you might consider accepting a dinner invitation to House Igniseri sometime to discuss such matters."

Sparte looks over, blinking as Agnarr shows up. "Oh, good to see you." Surprised by equal measure, but no use saying what is plain on his face. "The... Thing?" He tilts his head a bit. Seems that isn't specific enough for Sparte to clue in.

Alis is certainlt interested in the results of those tests, and swings her gaze towards Alaric.

Katarina slips into the hall, her back laden with travel bags and expression weary, but relieved when golden eyes take in the familiar faces of family and visiting nobility in company. "Good day to you all," she vocalizes, her bags passed toward her champion to be lifted and carried off into her rooms shortly thereafter. "I hope I'm still in time to at least participate?" She murmurs to her sisters, moving toward Alis and Marian.

"You bought it," explains Agnarr for Sparte, elaborating little more. He glances over when the king himself speaks, paying a smidge of attention.

Bianca will continue to happily bounce Ellara on her hip, letting her toy with the tri-ring symbol of the Pantheon dangling from her neck while the two quietly chit-chatted with each other. Or as much as one can chit-chat with a child her age. Her pale glance flicked up at the mention of the ballistas, clearly listening though involved otherwise.

Khanne walks into the Audience Hall with Drysi and looks around. She soon finds a spot to stand, lifting a hand to wave to anyone who looks her way that she knows. For now though, she observes and listens.

Sparte ahs, getting the clue. "That thing. I need to hold onto it for a few days more, at least. I'm sailing out on an expedition, but should be back within the week. Don't worry, I'll clean it off after I use it."

Alaric nods to Edain. "Well then, the abbreviated version. The good news is that they're very powerful weapons that fire oversized but otherwise normal ammunition. The bad news is that, mechanically speaking, there's rather no reason they ought to work; they seem to be wholly dependent on extremely advanced -artificing- to function at all. Moreover, their sheer power makes them unsuitable for field or mobile deployment. It seems they are only useful as fixed defenses installed on a very sturdy fortification."

"Going to need it too. I'll talk more of it another time," mutters Agnarr, seeming reasonably satisfied, albeit still as gruff as always.

Ellara is no longer blowing spit-bubbles at least. But boy, she has a LOT to say. A lot. It requires intense translation and is probably about the gross pureed something-or-other someone tried to make her eat for breakfast. But, she is very animated about it. Almost as animated as she is about trying to stick the tri-ring symbol into her mouth to gnaw on.

Alis keeps half an ear on what Alaric is telling Edain; a sigh escaping her lips that she's probably not even aware of, though she turns to greet Katarina with a smile and nod, as well as Khanne.

Bianca dipped a nod to Khanne from across the hall, currently standing not far from Alis and Edain as she played with Ellara. She murmured to the little one softly, "We will be the best of friends, yes we will!" Yes, there was totally a bit of baby talk. The sight of the usually mild and stoic Archscholar transformed to suit the sensibilities of the baby.

Edain rubs his bearded chin as the King explains what was learned, "Well that's good to know, it means we know what we have to work with, and it means that information is more important ever, because we will need to know exactly where the fight is going to happen, or have a way to draw the enemies those were built to fight to the Fortress we want to fight them at. It means we have alot of work to do, but it means we can plan...." Edain sighs then and says, "Well when certain other more pressing threats are dealth with, or if we can deploy them against those." The prince then bows to Quenia and says, "I would be honored to accept such an invititation Marqueesa, though I fear mostly I have just made it up as I have gone along, but It would be my honor to share what help I can."

Alis leans over to murmur something to her brother, her expression stark for a moment before she forces another smile and looks back toward her daughter and the Archscholar. "She's already taken with you, Archscholar." is murmured.

Sparte watches Agnarr head off, giving Wilhelm a cross look at something said. "I know, I know." Sparte sighs, shaking his head a bit before looking around. As though for a target. To socialize at.

Olenna arrives, delivering a message to Alis before departing.

Alaric nods lightly. "It seems rather unlikely they'll be leaving Arx, unfortunately. They are highly vulnerable in transit, and I have no reason to think that any force who opposes their deployment will not make it the utmost priority to ensure that they do not make it to their destination."

Alaric has left the a majestic brown oak table with a map of Arvum carved into the surface.

10 King's Own Guardsmen have been dismissed.

Zelda, the royal messenger have been dismissed.

Isidora listens to the words being said and her cheeks are so very red. It's like there may not be blood left in her body. There is a conversation lightly but she then looks around the room. A soft smile upon her lips to those she has yet to greet.

Bianca's smile turned to Alis, her tone returned warmly even in light of current solemn topics though its volume was soft so as not to speak over those in congress. "As I am with her." And then back to the child her mumbling whispers turned, "A thief of hearts, aren't you..?"

Quenia inclines her head once more to Edain, offering, "Thank you, your grace." She then steps out of the way so that others might address him.

Khanne smiles to Alis and Bianca, nodding to them in greeting. She watches Ellara upon Bianca's lap for some time. As fall has come, Khanne's manner of dress has changed with the season. The cooler (for Arx) temperatures have her wearing a silk dress with a slit up the right leg to... almost immodest heights and... well, though the dress may seem summer like by the standards of most, there is leather.. and fur involved. Still, she wears a glass and steel sprig of lavender in her hair, ever blooming.

"Also a thief of a writing stylus." Edain points out, "But she also threw it at Timmons then and I was very proud of her." Edain says with a smile.. it's about then he notices Sparte's plushie... he gives it a double take but doesn't comment. "THank you Marqueesa, I look forward to being hosted for dinner. Does anyone else have any business they wish to discuss?" He bows then to Khanne, "Lady Khanne, it is good to see you. I am sorry I did not greet you sooner."

Monique enters the hall with very little fanfare and a backpack at the crook of one elbow, a smile on her lips and a bawdy tune dying away. "Good day," she greets, in general, and then in specific, "Archscholar! Lovely to see you again. Lord Corban and I have been scheming something we hope you might be willing to help with, soon, though we know you're the busiest of scholars."

Isidora offers softly towards Edain. "Your Grace. I have a matter I would like to discuss." Isidora's soft voice is almost hard to hear in the audience hall, but it is made to hear the voices of the few. "I would like to do so privately though. I do not think it is good for a public meeting." Then she stands from the table, but keeps the juice with her. She moves over towards Bianca and offers a soft question.

Quenia wiggles her fingers in greeting at Monique when she sees her arriving, but turns her attention easily back to Isadora when she brings up a topic.

Bianca leaned into the whisperings of Isadora, her brows lifting at the question and a small smile returning to the woman along with a whisper. Whatever was said cast silvered gaze aside to Edain briefly though any distraction from Ellara was pulled right back to the child as the little one gave a solid yank to the Archscholar's long braid of hair. "Oh, was I not paying attention to you? My deepest apologies, princess." She chuckled softly to Ellara.

Edain bows to Isidora and says, "Of course, maybe once it is clear there is no other business anyone wishes to discuss we can adjorn to the Garden Chapel to speak?"

Indeed, Ellara knows how to get attention. She has such a huge smile though when Bianca looks back at her that Alis absolutely snorts aloud. "Well, at least you have more charm then your mama." a hand rests atop the baby's head, and she gives a nod of greeting to Monique.

Bianca then smiled up to Monique, "Oh? I would be delighted to hear details." She distracted Ellara momentarily by swinging her pendant back forth for the child to try to catch. "I am rather pressed these days, but you know I will always make time for both you and Lord Corban. Just send me a missive."

Khanne smiles then to Edain and says, "good day, Prince Edain. No need to apologize, you were quite busy. I just came to wish you a congratulations in person. I heard the news of Princess Consort Caelis and yourself expecting an heir. I had meant to send word, but... other, less happy tidings came my way and distracting me. So please, do accept my congratulations and wishes for a very healthy baby when the time comes."

Monique

Isidora is always given away by her eyes. They light up in delight at the whisper from the beautiful Bianca. "Please.." It almost sounds like the young Princess might be too eager. "..let us take a meal and discuss such things when you have time?" She smiles to Alis and the darling Ellara. A light touch is extended to both in greeting, as Isidora is not a toucher, it's like a hug. Then she smiles at Edain. "If it suits you, it would suit me."

Monique's smile for Quenia is warm and bright. "Marquessa! I didn't expect to see you here, but what a pleasant surprise." She returns Alis's nod before her regard swings back to Bianca and that smile grows. Perhaps disturbingly so. "I absolutely will, Archscholar. Thank you!" She turns her gaze to Edain, leisurely. "You sent me a messenger some time ago, High Lord, and I've yet to hear from you since. But I also was curious about Countess and Count Keaton's claims and whether you were investigating. They have been nothing but exemplary and to hear they were treated so by a Valardin Princess is deeply disappointing."

Bianca inclined her head, "Of course, Princess Isidora. Just send a missive and we will organize something," her voice then lowered a touch to a confidante's whisper before smile again lifted to Monique along with a dipped nod though her features darkened slightly at the mention of a mistreated cousin. She bounced Ellara on her hip as she listened!

"I came to personally invite Duke Edain to dinner, since his cousin, Prince Aurelian, felt I should talk to his grace about a few things," Quenia replies to Monique. "I figured there was no better venue to offer such an invitation than his own open court session." She smiles easily at Monique. "However, it is a pleasure to see you here as well. I think this is only my second venture into the Valardin ward, the first was to see the lovely new garden by Mistress Valery before it opened."

Sparte gets a small shove from Wilhelm that finally puts him in motion, striding towards the Valardin highlord. He swallows a bit, glancing around as he approaches. With plush doll in hand. "Ah, ex... Excuse me,

Khanne turns to regard Monique at her words, her brows lifted with interest, then turning to Edain to hear his response.

Sparte gets a small shove from Wilhelm that finally puts him in motion, striding towards the Valardin highlord. He swallows a bit, glancing around as he approaches. With plush doll in hand. "Ah, ex... Excuse me, Prince Edain. I, ah, I was gifted this to celebrate your child's birth, but, uh... I have a stoat you see, and she, uh, she, well..." He swallows, holding it out. "I didn't want to see something celebrating your child's birth ruined."

This, of course, is when Ellara starts looking around saying "dadadadadadadadadaaaaaaaaaa" and looking around expectantly. "Welp, that's my que!" Alis holds her arms out so Bianca can transfer the baby, before caterwauling begins. Though she adds. "I have already begun making inquiries, Lady Monique. But thank you for your concern on the matter."

Bianca begrudgingly handed the child over with a nod of understanding though Ellara was gifted one last kiss atop her head before she could get too far off.

Edain echos his sisters comments and says to Monique, "I am looking into it, but also, the Keatons have not shared the idenity of the Princess they are referencings yet. It is possible they might wish to seek satisfaction on their own through challenges and a duel, and I won't push them to tell me ahead of time if that is what the wish to do. I sounded to me like they were more offened by this Marquis, that they felt disrespected them. So we will see what they come forward with when they are ready to." He looks around the room then and turns to Sparte who presents him with the plushie, "THank you, Goodman Sparte. As always your compassion is only matched by your courage."

Isidora dips her head towards Bianca and her cheeks color at something said to her. Those honey gold eyes fill with embarrassment as if she might have overspoken or something. Her voice lowers to the woman though with a shy sort of smile attached to it.

Monique nods to both Alis and Edain, but focuses on the latter. "And your messenger to me some time ago, High Lord? Are you content now not to follow up on that matter? Since I've not heard from you since, I felt that must be the case."

Alis stands there a moment, rocking the baby back and forth and tickling her a little to keep her occupied until she can wait and see if Edain needs her for anything. The nanny knows ELlara well enough to grab her if needed. Given that she helped raise Alis too. The woman is used to a healthy set of lungs on her charge. To Biance, she gives a grateful smile. "I'll bring her to see you sometime, I promise."

Bianca tipped a nod to Sparte, small smile granted him warm though again she turned into a hushed conversation with Isidora, straightening herself back into articulate display of the regal now that there were no longer reaching tiny fingers to muss up her hair.

Edain nods to Monique, "I am curious, but it is a delicate topic and one best discussed in private, which we've not had time to meet about. You told me things are already in motion, so I am trusting in that, but I would still like to hear more detail when time allows."

Sparte's ears redden at the praise from Edain. He glances around, the redness spreading to his neck before he suddenly starts for the exit. Seems someone hit their socializing limit.

Monique lifts a brow at Edain's response, like she doesn't quite buy it, but offers only a short, terse, "Forgive me, High Lord. Of course you're busy with more important matters." She drops a curtsey, her glance sliding across the room. "Gods and spirits go with you."

Khanne twists her lips and looks around. Her congratulations was given and others seem to need to speak to Edain privately. "Well... I'll just be going. It was good to see everyone." She smiles and glances from Ellara to Alis. "You are blessed, Princess. We still have to meet for our talk, when there is time... " She looks to Bianca and grins. "Us too... been far too long."

Edain bows to Khanne, "Thank you for coming Lady Khanne and thank you very much for your well wishes, I know Princess Caelis will appreciate it too."

Isidora turns to study Monique for a few moments, but her lashes are down to conceal her eyes. Just a hint of color sparkling through the dark curtains. At Bianca's words the smile is more serene as she nods in understanding. "Of course."

When it seems like most other people are leaving, Quenia turns to take her own leave. She gives a small nod to those she knows on her way out.

Wilhelm the Iron Messenger leaves, following Sparte.

Oaken, a massive Oakhaven bloodhound, Marigold, a cheeky pygmy goat, Marie, chef of Keaton Hall arrive, following Reigna.

Echo, an adult Oakhaven bloodhound, Reigna, Margerie arrive, following Kael.

"I am. Thank you, Lady Khanne. We do in fact need to speak. If you'll be free later today, I am willing. I need to make sure she gets to her daddy first, is all." There's a smile from Alis for her little one. "I'll be in touch." is added, before she turns to leave.

Alaric has joined the a majestic brown oak table with a map of Arvum carved into the surface.

Bianca's grin met the lovely woman of silk and furs. "Years at this point. I am happy to see you, Lady Khanne. I know it is much belated, but I still owe you a birthday gift. Perhaps I can buy dinner some night soon? Sooner than... the last 'soon' of course."

Kael moves into the audience hall with Reigna on his arm, the young man's expression a solemn thing with little infliction of emotion. There is something stoic about him, likely by way of respect regarding the proceedings. He does not arrive merely with his wife, but rather there is another woman, sliiiightly older, walking with the pair. The Keatons are arriving as a trio this day, pausing after arrival be it that they are announced or not, and taking stock of the grand chamber before proceeding.

Edain nods to Monique and says, "Well speak soon I am sure." Edain says to her. He looks around to see who is is still here and if anyone has business they want to bring up, then the Heralds beging to announce the Keatons, "Count and Countess Keaton, Welcome." He bows to Margerie and says, "Lady Margerie" Hearing her name from the heralds announcing her. "Welcome. There is plenty of food and wine if you would wish some."

Monique still doesn't look like she believes Edain, and it shows on her face, but she turns instead without further comment, to the arrival of the Keatons. A look of sympathy touches her features, and she curtsies to them.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Edain before departing.

Opposed to her usual freely given smile, Reigna too seems to have been bitten by a serious bug. When she is greeted by Edain, there is a revival of her warm smile, but it does not fully hide the pique she appears to carry with her. She keeps hold of Kael's arm, but her free hand takes hold of her skirt as she offers a curtsy to the High Lord. There is a wider smile when he greets Margerie and a glance to the Lady in attendance with them. When Monique offers them a curtsey her brows lift and a look of gratitude is sent to the Greenmarch Lady as Reigna offers a more shallow curtsy than the one offered to Edain.

Isidora waits for Edain to call the meeting so that they can talk in private. When the Keatons arrive, she just turns her eyes towards Edain. For a few moments, she watches Monique in her reactions as well. She turns her eyes towards Alaric for a few moments and blushes again. That happens fairly frequently.

Alaric has been here all the time, schmoozing with the NPC Valardins because he's just so sociable even placeholder citizens are not exempt from his conversational efforts. Eventually he returns to the table for another glass of wine, however, and begins to pick up his quiet conversation with Isidora again.

Khanne lingered a little bit to pay fond farewells. "I am not sure if I will be free," she says to Alis, "but if I am, I will let you know." She chuckles at Bianca and nods. "Dinner would be nice, yes. And please, much, much sooner than the last 'soon'." Drysi hands something to the shaman then and Khanne takes a moment to read the note, smirking with a small laugh and writing something brief in response before sending Drysi off once more. She turns then to walk towards the exit, but here comes the Keatons! She hmms and smiles at them. "Perhaps I shall stay a little bit longer...." Now that Alaric is done talking to all those Valardin's, she looks towards him and offers a very clumsy looking curtsy.

Margerie's nephew may pause, but that sliiiightly older woman hsa very little hitch in her giddy-up as she takes a few extra steps after his pause. For all that she has seniority, there is a youthful sense of wonder about her as she takes in the celebratory touches to the event and the hall in general. Her fingers do a giddy little shimmy before she curls them back towards her palms to get the energy under control. It settles quickly, just in time to look towards the High Lord and return the bow with a curtsey. "Your Grace, thank you for your hospitality. It all looks positively scrumptious and I am given to understand that you have excellent teas here." She inclines her head towards Monique.

"Is there something I can help you with, Lady Monique? Your expression of disbelief leads me to think you don't believe how busy my brother has been. But I can assure you he has been." Alis promises, Ellara on her hip.

When he is acknowledged by Edain, Kael delivers a precise bow and keeps his head down for three precise seconds. Thereafter with a lift of his chin, he is murmuring, in a most smooth tone, "You have our gratitude, Your Grace." He hesitates, a moment, when the man is welcoming Margerie and thereafter comes a nod, a solemn thing, before flicking a look to his aunt. He is not oblivious to Monique, however, and the greeting is responded to with a bow in turn. He spies Alis and Khanne near the exit, stepping off a bit to the side before executing a perfect bow to Alis and thereafter, inclining his head toward Khanne by way of greeting as well. Yes, lots of bowing, but it does not phase him in the very least. A few steps are ventured toward the refreshments, inclining his head just so in silent query to Reigna.

Alaric smiles personably to Khanne and raises his glass to her, with a regal nod of acknowledgment to the incoming Keatons and Monique and Katarina everyone else who roamed in while he was offcamera-ing it up.

Bianca dipped her head to Khanne's response, her smile remaining warm though it looked as if the Archscholar was in preparation to depart as well. Her fur-lined cowl was drawn back up over the long braid of her hair and she leaned to murmur something to the High Lord.

Monique smiles to Alis, but it's not a true smile; it falls short of the eyes. "No, I'm sure he has been. Sparring at Telmar is of the utmost importance, far superior than the particular matter he asked to discuss with me." She curtsies back to Alaric's nod, taking her attention off of Alis but briefly. "Everyone is very, very busy these days, I'm sure we can all agree. And yet, if something is deemed important, time is made."

Bianca's hand lifted to settle briefly on Edain's shoulder, a dip of her head given to him with a smile before she pulled away. Those she knew were each granted their own nod of farewell as she proceeded to move out of the hall.

"And so he must drop everything to attend a matter you deem more important, because he is not allowed to have any time for himself?" Alis wonders, eyebrows raised. "If you continue to be disrespectful to the Highlord, I will have to challenge you. I would hate to do that, Lady Monique. But there are far more diplomatic ways for you to bring up your concerns. Including to his Voices."

Reigna's attention shifts and she spies Alis, Bianca and Khanne in a cluster, and with a squeeze of Kael's arm, she is nodding to him, before leaning in to murmur something softly to him. After a moment, with a nod from Kael, Reigna is adjusting their course to take them towards the cluster of Bianca, Alis and Khanne. When the couple reach them, Reigna is disengaging from Kael long enough to maneuver Khanne into a hug, assuming the Northern Shaman submits to such a thing. "Lady Khanne. Your presences, is always a boon. Hello dear friend." She looks to Alis and seems about to speak, though with a look between her and Monique, she instead looks to Bianca, before the woman departs, "Cousin, it was so good to see you."

Monique still hasn't taken her regard from Alis, and she offers in return, "If the intent is not to place importance on the matter of grave import, then it would be better not to ask me to share the information at all. I do so at great cost and great peril to my own life. And if this is a fealty who treats such things and such loyalty lightly, and then throws the threat of challenges around?" Her anger is very visible now, no longer below the surface, at Alis's threat. "Then challenge away and see what kind of information that will get you."

Edain turns to his sister and puts a hand on her shoulder, "It's alright Pricess Alis, I am not offended, and Lady Monique is entitled to what she thinks about my use of my time." Edain says to his sister, "I apologize Lady Monique, I could have made time the other night, but I had not seen my cousin Valerion since the Seige, and we wanted to take a moment to catch up. I apologize if you felt I was being disrespectful to you. Are you free to meet tomorrow morning?"

"No, it is not alright for her to treat you disrespectfully, most especially in public." Alis insists. "Do /not/ do it again, Lady Monique. Learn to handle your concerns diplomatically. I would challenge -anyone- who treats Prince Edain in such a manner." With her free hand, she reaches up to squeeze Edain's lightly. "You already have too much on your shoulders, brother. She is not entitled to judge you."

Margerie's attention can't help from wandering the tiniest bit towards the conversation between Monique and Alis, just a glance at the two women. When Monique seems to welcome the possibility of a challenge, she takes a step to the side with another bow of the head towards Edain. With his focus back on those already there, she moves in Reigna's wake to that place which is ever so slightly elsewhere, though still in earshot. She smiles at the woman that Reigna greets so affetionately. "Lady Khanne, is it? You seem to bring out a most affectionate side in the Countess. What a pleasure to see."

A hug from Reigna, Khanne certainly submits to. The woman is one of few she would. In fact, she hugs the Countess in return, smiling. "It is always a pleasure to see you as well." She gives an extra squeeze before the hug is ended. Looking at some of the tensions rising, in the direction of Alis and Monique, Khanne speaks softly to Reigna. "Should I go? I was about to, but you and Kael arrived... It suddenly seems more... erm..." She shrugs and bites the corner of her lip. Inhaling a breath, seeming relieved for a new focus, she smiles at Margerie and dips her head to her. "I am, yes. Khanne... Lady.. Khanne Halfshav. Voice of Halfshav House and uh... well, there's a string of titles really. I'm just Khanne." She smiles and looks to Reigna. "The Countess is one of my truest friends. I completely adore her." Looking back to Margerie she tilts her head. "Are you the Aunt I have heard so much about?"

Monique's anger that was temporarily banked by Edain, temporarily smoothed, is brought to boil as Alis speaks once more. The Greenmarch's eyes snap with mossy fire. "My apologies, High Lord. I regret that I'm not free to meet." She doesn't say the word 'ever' but it's simmering below the surface. "It seems I have gravely misjudged the importance of the matter. I withdraw my offer in order to spare you the burden." There's so much spite there it's palpable, but the Greenmarch dips a curtsey properly in... spite... of it.

"No, you do not get away that easily, Lady Monique. Nobody said the matter was unimportant. Consider yourself challenged." Alis says calmly. "You do not get to make this about Edain, or me. It is about you and your behavior. Next time, think before you show up to Throne Hours being snarky and judgemental."

The rising tension between Monique and Alis has Reigna glancing somewhat nervously in their direction, holding the hug to Khanne for several seconds before releasing the other woman. She tries to focus there, a warmth in her voice as she nods, "This is Lady Margerie Keaton, a wise, mirthful and fantastic lady who I cannot say enough good things about." There is a pause before Reigna replies, "I would never shoo you away from my company, friend, but if you have something important waiting on you..." Reigna's voice trails off as the words between Monique and Alis turn more sour. Reigna bites down on her lower lip and for whatever reason, she looks then, a lingering sort of glance, to Princess Isidora. The gaze holds for only a second before the Countess is looking away.

Kael is willing to let Reigna go embrace Khanne, and even seems a bit more amiably inclined toward the Halfshav. That being said, when the hug is accounted for and Reigna is back, he is taking a swift step toward her and offering his arm once more so that she might take it anew. Is it any wonder, with the tensions mounting? He is absolutely silent, but there is no attempt to veil the fact that he is observing the interplay between the key figures.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Reigna before departing.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Reigna before departing.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Kael before departing.

Edain closes his eyes and sighs, "Then may I ask that you both work out terms upon the conclusion of court." He looks about the room then and approaches the Keatons, "Count Kael, Countess Reigna, this is your aunt Lady Margerie correct?" He bows to woman, "I hope that you are enjoying the City of Arx."

"Challenge accepted," Monique tells Alis simply, anger high in the flush of her cheeks and the snap-crackle of her glare. "Happily. These will be some very interesting terms."

Isidora is conversing low to Alaric. She may be talking his ear off, the poor man. However, try as she might not to draw more attention to the situation, her eyes move towards Monique. She's keeping her lashes low to try to just look stoic and not give too much of her thoughts away. Trying. Then at almost the same time, her eyes slide towards Countess Reigna. There is a shared look there, only poor Isidora's eyes tell every lingering thought she has. She then looks back towards Alaric and towards Edain.

Alis dips her head towards Edain, and whispers something to him quietly before turning to face the crowd. "My apologies for the afternoon's tension." is said sincerely, before she leaves.

Sir Rhys, a Valardin Knight leaves, following Alis.

Margerie can't help another one of those sly glances over to the unintended entertainment of the event. That is some seriously auntie side eye happening, if only briefly before focusing in on those nearer at hand. "Isn't it always a challenge adjusting to the everchanging title game? I find myself having to fight the urge to answer whenever someone addresses 'Countess Keaton' Lady, Voice, and she of many titles. It is a pleasure to meet you, Khanne. It will be a delight if you stay for a time, it will be something to look forward to if you must leave now, since it means we will just have to invite you over at a later time. I am the aunt in question. Is Reigna as generous in her praise when I am not there to hear it?" There is a warm, teasing quality to words pitched to carry a bit more than is strictly necessary. She takes a step back as Edain approaches, the better to open the conversation. She curtseys again and nods. "It is much as I had hoped for when I set out to join my nephew. Rarely a dull moment!"

Khanne keeps glancing, briefly, towards the Valardins and Greenmarch, though most of her attention is with the Keatons now. Margerie is given a bright smile. "A true pleasure to meet you then, Lady Margerie. I am, well, I count the Count..." she pauses to chuckle at that wording. "And the Countess as two people very important to me. More than friends, really. Sort of extended family." Perhaps that sounds strange, and she considers that possibility, then shrugs with a sheepish grin. "I'm a shaman, we can seem a bit odd at times." She shakes her head to Reigna. "No.. nothing of import at the moment." Her own misty greys follow her friend's gaze to Isidora and back before looking to Kael. "Kael! Sorry. I didn't mean to ignore you for your wife." She smiles brightly at him as well then nods her head to him. "It is good to see you too. And, it has been a long time since we've had a chance to dine and chat. We should all do so again soon. You are well?" She laughs towards Margerie and nods. "Yes, and I have the letter somewhere to prove it." Just then, Drysi returns and leans in to whisper to Khanne, her brow furrowing a bit and a deep sigh taken. She nods and thanks her apprentice, then turns back to her companions, placing that smile upon her lips once more.

Edain smiles to Margerie and says, "Well if you have had any part in helping to make your nephew into the amazing ruler he has become then the Oathlands is in your debt. Welcome to Arx, Sometime when there is not so much weighing down upon us, I admit I am hoping to join the Keatons on a hunt to see how I fare. Hopefully we'll have more of an opprotunity to speak in the near future."

At this point the Prince looks around the hall and says, "I thank everyone for coming. I think everyone's business is concluded, so I will be closing court now, but food will be left out and replenished all day so please feel free to stay, relax and enjoy yourselves. May the Gods walk with you all."

Kael's watching is of course ceasing when Edain turns to address them. His focus is foremost on the High Lord now, and he dips into further bow. "Correct, Your Grace. This is my Aunt, Lady Margerie Keaton, former Countess of Oakhaven. Our purpose in coming was to introduce her to you most formally and let it be known to you that she will be residing with us at Keaton Hall." He inclines his head, with that, as though to conclude that business. What is peculiar is his response to Khanne. He remains stoic in these courtly proceedings and yet is slipping back and answering her with a draw of a brawny arm up, curling it about her shoulder and bringing her in for a very chaste kiss atop her temple. That, it seems, is that. Rather than verbal reply.

Khanne is overheard praising Edain for: Saw him in High Lord action. Impressive, to say the least.

Reigna is overheard praising Edain for: Calm, cool and ever the Prince!

Monique is overheard praising Edain for: At least he tried.
