I ought have killed Savio years ago.

Relationship Note on Jaerith

Songs are indeed for any time
We love a tune paired with a rhyme
But poetry does have a place
Outside of lovers' sweet embrace
Just for old men -- that seems amiss
A poem's best to take the piss.

I had wondered some months ago how Redrain's turn at hosting the Assembly might go. I am someone that likes to be prepared, as hard as the world sometimes makes that, so of course I considered what could occur prior to the event; what issues might be brought forth or what things would need to be addressed. The last Assembly I personally oversaw was not particularly quiet. This time, however, it was, though it felt more like a quiet before the storm - all of us preparing and waiting for what may come. Still, it is always an honor to sit with the dedicated leaders of the Compact as well as the peers and citizens who come to listen or bring forward their own concerns.

There's been quite a bit of poetry bandied about recently. The children ask me why I don't tell them poems but sing them songs instead. I've said poetry's for lovers and old men, aye? Songs are for any time.

I am a Baroness-regent who freely admits that music is my passion. I sing, play a variety of instruments and do the usual acting and dancing that sometimes accompanies various songs, else one looks like a stiff stick standing there warbling.

When I travel, I sometimes use these skills as a bard. It gets one a welcome and treated to drinks and good food in most villages and hamlets. Singing in those circumstances is a pleasure. I must admit though that one of the lousiest songs I ever composed on the spot was when facing a slaver trying to capture me. I sang at him and taunted him as I cut his belt and pant waist so they fell to slow him down and eventually managed to get past his hatchets and get rid of him. I think the other slavers who evaded the group of those freeing the captives could not decide if the man died of embarassment or from the wounds I gave him. And believe me, it was such a lousy song, it does not bear being committed to paper unless it undergoes some serious rewording.

A walk in the woods
The quick sight of prey
The Instict kicks in
The Hunter is on the hunt
Stalking waiting patiently
Heart beating hard
The sound filling ears
Like thunder rolling over water
The sent caught on the wind
A chase
A game
A grunt
A groan
A flash of teeth
Pain
Exciment
Breaths taken deeply
The hunter stands and looks down
The hunter has not only caught one
But two prey this day.

A mixed drink. Unbreakable eye contact.
A sound which pulls upon every piece of your being, to suffocate you with love and sweetness. A million smiles within 'Ima', my heart.
May I only fade upon shores unseen, and never before.
There's something pulling, tugging, seeking to grab upon and slowly find its way to spread through you until there's nothing left.
Seeking to drain every last being of you...
Not within darkness, nor to be hopeless. Simply an emptiness seeking to pull every slice of cheery color and sparkle from these dusty eyes.

To break free from these chains, to fight back and lift up limbs once tied back. No longer sinking willingly.
We must step back and see for what it is that we fight.
For it is love. A cool soft breeze upon a cloth hung, bells left to sing in every breath
For it is heart. As the waters slip under sail and curl to nuzzle upon us

Relationship Note on Savio

I have heard murmurings of a steamy dreamy poem...

Is it too soon to say you're my new favorite person? Do you teach a class? Can we have a drink and you teach me all your ways? Poetry is still a struggle, I'm much better at dramatic prose.

Relationship Note on Enyo

The best word that rhymes with dreamy
Does indeed sound somewhat steamy
And while this might be so amusing
Perhaps it's best to go with brooding

Is the subject stern and glum?
They hate frivolity and fun?
They roll their eyes at what you show them?
Who cares, they're gonna love your poem.

Life has been calm and manageable right now. Makes me wonder what is coming around the corner? What should we be preparing for next? Guess the gods will let us know soon enough. Hope we are ready.

I love bards.
I love love songs.

I love poetry.

I'm going to write more....for you know who.

Does anyone know a good word that rhymes with brooding? Or maybe even dreamy? I feel certain words would probably be a bad idea to use for rhyming with dreamy...but maybe not.

There was a small expedition that set out to rescue a cargo ship that was raided and run aground by a group of marauders. We made quick work of them -- we did.

Now --

I have a pretty harpoon to remind myself of how much fun that way was had.

Oh I hate bards, they're so annoying
I hate love songs, sweet and cloying
I can't stand epics, long and dreary
Shanties make me cross and weary

More trying still, you have the poets
One would hope that they'd outgrow it
But no, they're out here wasting time
Accosting readers with their rhymes

Both types think they're oh so clever
When they're not, by any measure
Boisterous, smug, and so obnoxious
No other vexation can top this

The very worst is when they tease
Someone who simply disagrees
Oh I hate bards, as you can see --
Hold up now, is this about me?

I don't tend to be one that has the best fashion sense, but, I have decided what I'm going to do with this missing eye of mine. And I'm guessing that it might bring some very odd conversations. I'm excited to get the process started though.

Looking toward winter's approach during times of widespread strife, and all the trepidation and caution that inspires. It requires its own brand of preparation.

I can't recall having a greater reason to embrace the shift of the seasons than I do now. I just wish I could slow things down, if only to catch my bearings.

Already, I can picture the sun's brightness bouncing off the snow.
