My most sincere gratitude to House Thrax, House Blackshore, and House Eswynd for these gorgeous new cogs.

As much as the last naval symposium that I attended was absolutely useless - to me, at least - for the purpose of planning what is to come, I find myself almost wanting to hold another one, at least in light of recent events. There are too many groups who have pieces of the puzzle when it comes to what we do and do not know about the disposition of the Skal'dajan forces in the Saffron, and we waste valuable time trying to track it all down.
I worry we're preparing to die separately, instead of rising together.

I had the honour of making some chains of office for the Crown's court. It was a matter of workmanship over flare or expense, but I am confident that I did them well. Truthfully, iron isn't something I've played with much, but it was a delight to simply practice the craft of such a simple and meaningful item.

The egg that Lord Vitalis gifted to me has hatched and after some time has begun to get feathers, instead of the grey fluff it was born with.
Asking the advice of someone at the Menagerie, I've been told it's a bearded vulture.
It's uncertain whether it's a male or female, truly, but I have named it Vlad.

Aine Halfshav purchased one of our litter of High Hill mastiff pups, a male named Flame. she is new to the city and wanted an animal companion. I remember what being a new arrival was like and try to help new arrivals when I can. I hope she enjys her new canine friend

A hunter removes the heart of its kill to honor the animal, to show them respect. What reason would a man need to rip the heart from an enemy's chest? What reason would that same man have to preserve an enemy's heart? Where is the honor in anything you have done?

I don't normally mind silence. There's the silence of a beautiful summer night, and the silence of the forest in winter...
I do mind this silence, though. Of late, it has gotten too quiet again... and when it gets this quiet about Arvum, bad things happen.

You ever find yourself late at night and your mind drifting with the mists of memory?
The day is done. It's time to breath. It's late and the fire is burned down to little more ash and embers and the cold is starting to creep between the boards of the wall.
And, for some unknown reason you start to seek resolutions to these troubles you have at the bottom of your glass, though you know you'll not find them there. Then out of nowhere you find yourself thinking of those from your past.
It’s hard when you miss people. Even if it means you had someone in your life worth missing.
I hate that feeling.

I have eagerly, restless, impatiently waiting to be called to duty. The moment I find a tempting diversion from the rigors of waiting-duty calls. I knew fate could be cruel but I never thought it so petty.

When the blade rattles in the scabbard? The cause is likely that the scabbard is used far too often.
A clever word can disarm just as readily as a sword pulled from its scabbard.
Or disguise a slap in the face.

I competed in the fish catching competition and tried my luck at bare-handed fishing. It's something I've seen others attempt to do in the North and being someone who learns largely by example, I thought I would finally give it a shot. It wasn't terrible, but I certainly didn't win! That's alright, it was still a hoot. Congratulations to those who did much better than me, especially those of you who fished with your bare hands too! Not an easy feat, that's for sure.
Speaking of the North, I bought the most beautiful tapestry from Bonibel Barleycorn. It's a leather tapestry depicting a bear stalking on snowy rocks. A little something to help combat the homesickness I tend toward in the cooler months - when those happen. I welcome them.

I looked up from my work today and realized that I have a birthday tomorrow. I'd make some comment about how I feel old and aging but that's not really true. I don't feel old and I guess maybe I'm aging but it's only the form of a couple of stray gray hairs that are beginning to appear my temples. And laugh lines I suppose and maybe some other lines. Anyway, the point is that I don't FEEL old.

Scholar! I had the best weekend weekend! I went into the woods, practicing with my stick. Snow will be coming soon. I can feel it. Smell it. There's just a change in the air. And I couldn't be more excited!
