Relationship Note on Clara

When one gets injured in a rather serious way there are things one might not want to do.
1. Pretend like nothing happened
2. Hang out in cold places (I try not to do this anyways)
3. Go to a meeting with friends

I had been with a group of people and I just felt myself feeling worse. Then feeling even more worse, so I thought it best to take myself home.

This was fine plan except I had sustained a serious wound that was getting progressively worse. Lady Clara came to see to that need. She worked efficiently and effectively. She didn't even berate me for not running to the mercies first. So thank you so much Lady Clara for helping me. You may have actually saved my life .

I think your other advisers have answered that /far/ better than I could have, sweetheart.

Today I saw a man smear oil upon himself, climb into the training ring, and swing ax to crash down those before him. All during these cold winter months.

Relationship Note on Revell

I don't know if we've met Revell, but love...

Love is that moment when another enters the room and it changes your world.
Even if just for that moment.

It's the sound of a voice that comforts you in the dark.
The comfort of arms holding you tight when you cry.
The laughter shared, the kind, especially, that brings tears of joy to your eyes.

Love is grief so deep you can't stand it another day, but you must. To forget that love is to kill a part of yourself. To forget or ignore it is to cripple a part of your heart in a way that may never be mended properly.

Love is a horrible argument that leaves you in sobbing tears.
Love is quiet moments before a fire.

Love is supporting each other.
Love is complete acceptance.

Love is not fitting just one person in your heart.
Love can be many people.

Love doesn't care about what is right or wrong.
It just is.

Love lifts your heart so high you feel like you're soaring.
Love rips and tears at your heart when you least expect it.

Love is feeling. Love is feeling it all. The good. The bad. The sad. The happy. The fear. The courage.
Love is wrapping yourself up in everything it is, accepting it, pain and all.

Love just is.

Snowball fight in Nightingale Park. No clear winner. I thought for sure that first snowball was going to land me on my ass. Turns out? Completely right. On my ass, right in a snowbank, and if you think there's anything scarier than Raymesin Ulbran Abyss-bent on launching himself at you like a human arrow, you'd be wrong. All teeth, that smile; face like a predator.

I think Revell and I lost -often-. Ras pulled off some legendary maneuvers. Lord Dycard fell to Ulbran's best again and again and again. And again. The Lord's shameful use of Revell as a shield? -Hilarious-. Er. I mean, horrifying. Yeah that. -Awful-.

Note to future me: Apparently if you can throw a deadly knife you can throw a spectacular snowball. It was glorious, scholar. He got the Lord right in the face, half a dozen times. -Spectacular-. And he looked terrifying while he did it too. But that's Raymesin, isn't it?

Augusto Supreme is a fine horse. A mountain of a beast, a fierce black stallion that would be the envy of any breeder. There is no better prize from an adventure than to gain another boon companion such as he. The spring will truly be promising.

Just had to share this with someone, Scholar. Overheard at the Murder last night:

~~

I wouldn't upset the barmaid if I were you, mate. That's Tanith.

Who?

Tanith Grayhope. The woman who threw that mouthy Inquisition idiot out last night, landed him right in that puddle in the street. The one who went a few rounds with the Champion, Sydney, and got some licks in. The one who got herself launched at by that murderous Ulbran and came out on top. /Tanith/.

Oh. Oh wow. Yeah. Nice and quiet, no trouble. Er - yes please, ma'am, another pint.

Relationship Note on Revell

Love has rules and all involved must know them. Everyone involved must be fully committed to the love. Feelings should be freely expressed, supported by understanding.

Both parties should strive to always persist. Every opportunity should be taken to be reliable. Loyalty abounds when both parties never abandon the other. Love shouldn't result in tears. When tears inevitably happen, it should never end in a final farewell. It should always be built on a foundation of truth and care.

Infatuation is fleeting, but love takes time to build. Love shouldn't be timid, but bold. Don't hold back when there's an ache in your chest. All involved should know what the other is feeling and know what they're getting into. Feelings shouldn't need to be sought out, they should be plainly visible and freely provided.

Winter has come, and the snows with it. Almost...almost, if I close my eyes and turn my face up to catch the snowflakes on my cheeks...if I am very, very still, I can almost hear the sound of the wind through the trees of home.

It had been a while since I last laid eyes on Arx, and the rumors were true: no Winter's ever the same at the heart of the Compact.

Even the decorations are different, the arrangements, the very spirit of the people is different. Last Winter was dark and gloomy due to things that had happened; things I was only scarcely here for, but now I see something long-absent in the sallow faces of passersby - a glimmer of hope.

Even in the Lowers, would you believe it?

Seeing the Valardin regiments at the Capital once more, too, was inspiring. I've decided that, for them, a strict regimen is paramount if they're to master the unforgiving arithmetic of combat as is expected from such a famed legion.

Not that I have a say in it just yet. There's paperwork to be had, oh Vellichor, paperwork to be had...

Why is it, that the youngest must always be sequestered to the office work? Why can't I be allowed to ride out in the rain with the others? I can ride too. I can fight... well, I can try to fight. I can tell others to fight for me?

I can make a strong case to our soldiers why they shouldn't let the enemy kill me. There.

No matter, there's plenty of time to prove myself. For now, biscuits, tea and another deep case study of the Battle for Valor's Point. Ah, nothing like the writings of Lord Janus Valardin on the beauty of an Oathlander knightly wedge. He's very descriptive of their results.

It is rather morbid.

What is 'love'?

It is not something I've thought a lot about, well, ever.

I've read the stories and I find myself drawn to the idea of romance - grand gestures of affection and beautiful prose. I adore the concept of 'The One'.

But what is romance, aside from a means to an end? A way to get your chosen partner to reproduce with you? To create offspring?

What /is/ love, and what makes romantic love so different to platonic love? I certainly have the latter in spades, but I can't say I've ever felt the former.

I've crushes, for sure, but I'd say that those are more of a perfect blend between platonic affection and physical attraction than 'love'.

The love that people speak of make them do irrational, stupid things. Is that what love is? Stupidity?
