I have heard just now that something bad happened to Prince Damik! It's such a pity! He was so nice! At least, any time I met him, and when he even responded to my letters.

I'm sending my condolences to everyone who had to witness such a thing! It's such horrible news.

There are times when I am finally alone with my thoughts after an event.

No distractions. No sharing warm welcomes or smiles. No seeing to others pleasures or care. All have left with their spouses, friends or lovers. The staff have finished their work and found their beds or time to gather and celebrate another successful event in their quarters or the kitchens. Save for those who remain in other parts of the place, my Hart is quiet again.

It is in these moment I realize just how often I am alone in this world when all is said and done.

Thoughts of a Student:

Being bitten is not the best way to learn about the abyss.
Being left behind in a dark dark wood after, is also a good way to know who your friends aren't.

Relationship Note on Savio

Thoughts of a Friend;

I can set aside his leaving me behind in the woods, since he got me back to the villa after I apparently passed out at a recent party.
The drifter who drifts in certain directions is welcome to drift my way again.

Sleepless Thoughts with Princess Allegra: What if there were no hypothetical questions? That in itself is a hypothetical question. So can one answer a question whose answer would contradict the very existence of the question initially asked? To answer the question would invalidate the very question asked...so without a valid question can you have a valid answer? Oh look the sun.

Apparently, getting by on charm alone only gets one through so far. However, it does mean that a great many people are willing to jump to one's aid when one finally admits that one needs to learn to behave oneself better. I am grateful for all that have reached out to me of late, and I am looking forward to the variety of perspectives I expect to experience as I make an effort to improve myself.

We ventured to to the Sleepless Knights to hold a Night of Knights! It was the King's Own and the Knights of Solace. Quite the evening, really. It's been awhile since I've enjoyed myself so completely with a group of comrades. Grandmaster Jeffeth surprised us by conducting a few promotions and formally admitted Lady Brianna into the order with the rest of us. And now I find myself not just the Boat Guy of Solace as SOME people have been calling me, but Knight Lieutenant. Not a title that I ever expected to hold, really. But my life's been a series of twists and turns.

Overall the world is so... tumultuous. But I find my own life is very full.

Relationship Note on Clarisse

She is beautiful beyond measure. How would you measure beauty? 1 teaspoon smile? 2 cups of ass, 3 tablespoons of charm, a dash of goodwill and a pinch of personality?

She's looking to do good, and finding a place in Arx. Being a healer is a good position, but it's not all smiles and good things. There's a lot of dark things that you may come across.

Make sure you have comfort, so that beautiful smile of yours never truly fades.

The large warrior has quite the appetite. And the little bride. I think a great match is made!

Just..don't get married in the forest outside of Arx.

Relationship Note on Reagan

Welcome to Arx, she looks like a petite warrior with flaming red hair, and her husband to be is so big! I love-love the contrast, so short, so tall - but all completely adorably warrior-ly cute!

Lady Raegan - may you never need assistance now with things from the top shelves.

Lord Teagan - Remember that the best things come in small packages!

Many well wishes to you both!

It was my pleasure to be able to turn disappointment to excitement. I'm glad to know that I haven't lost my flair for the dramatic, and I will look forward to bringing more shades of green to flatter your fair beauty and offset that gorgeous mane of flame!

Relationship Note on Calla

Baroness Calla Vaevici is a question mark within a fealty from whom I expect more questions than answers. The picture she paints through words of Sangris and the Caldera is stark, exotic, powerful. She is as graceful as a Torean rose and sharp as tempered steel. I do not know what her tale will be. It is one which is and will be worth reading.

May Lagoma's flame burn bright for you, Baroness, and for Sangris as we sail into nights unknown.

Relationship Note on Noelle

Earlier this fortnight I ran into, literally, Princess Noelle. The poor lass has the worst luck of anyone I've met. I decided to sooth her nerves with a walk out to the Lodge. I think it worked. We met two of the Empire folk and it wasn't long before the princess was laughing again.

Relationship Note on Leena

Lady Leena was the first to welcome me home, and I am forever grateful for it. Her company is not to be turned away, and her mind has a brilliance to it. One that I will say I could not always follow, but the glimmer of intelligence was just out of reach for me. She's a wonderful woman, that much is true and certain.

Relationship Note on Tyche

Marquessa Tyche Inverno, Countess of the March of Caina, leads her people with a canniness and charm exemplary even among the Lycene. She is generous - with her time, with her praise, and with her talents. With war on the horizon, she is an indispensable ally.

As Inverno's words promise that they will be prey to none, may Marquessa Tyche's leadership and Gloria's example make keen victors of us all.

I have a handful of projects in the works, none of which seem close to being completed. I now wholly get the saying about having one's fingers in too many pies. I felt the need to create, though, and with my mind stalled on what needs to be done, I worked on a few things that I just wanted to bring to life. Nothing extraordinary, I suppose, but the kind of things that are easy on the mind and bring a quick sense of accomplishment. Maybe a bit of silver, too, but that's beside the point.

Mostly, it is nice to see the cases in the shop filled again and the hues of metal, gems, and leather nearly as bright as the summer blooms around the city.

It is easy in hindsight to congratulate ones self over actions and deeds of the past.
You have weathered the trials of getting the houses to work together.
You have wrangled the figurative cats together.

It is far harder to offer insight that is actually helpful to the current trials before us.
It is also apparently far more difficult for some to act with grace and dignity.
Instead slandering others in the Symposium not meeting S Y M P O S I U M.
While under their hospitality and in whites.

If any read this and feel called out, Perhaps rather than taking offense do something
to remedy things and offer something constructive.

Pravus has a leader to our naval power and forces. And while some might think
that this war is no place for diplomacy.. Tell me how will your blade help us earn
the favor of potential allies, How will it help the countless refugees that will
be made from this war.. The numerous orphans. No diplomacy has a place in this..

But we must..all work together.

Standing apart or torn by past wounds unable to look to the future will only
serve to help the Skal'dajans.. and condemn us all.

To any who may read this...

If you are not one to lift a blade or string a bow in the war to come but still wish to help. You can.. there is much work to be done before the battles to come and in their wake.

If you are a diplomat or healer.. or even a carpenter.. Reach out.

If you can lend other aid to the cause of diplomacy and assisting the future refugees and orphans.. Reach out..

I remember the planning session for Setarco's defense. It was myself, Katarina, Reese, Kaede and Domonico. The five of us represented the full faith of each of our Houses. Though we lacked the full knowledge of our enemy's strength and disposition, we crafted a plan that maximized our strengths, and had what we believed was the best chance of victory. We submitted that plan to the High Admiral Victus Thrax and he approved it.

Then we implemented that plan without mistake and the first battle of with the Gyre was won handily. We knew there would be a second the next day. Despite the lack of time to plan, we readied ourselves outside Setarco. When the enemy appeared it was in greater numbers, and more significant threats than we could have ever predicted.

So each of us admirals submitted an action plan to the High Admiral Victus. He chose one, and we carried it out to the best of our ability. The day was won, at great cost. The point here, is that there is a chain of command at sea. Whether it is planning, or sailing, or maintenance or navigating, any deviation from the chain of command will leave some important duty in the hands of the less qualified, and that could be fatal, not just to them but to the entire ship.

The defense of the Saffron chain from the Skallies has no High Admiral. It has no transparent chain of command for the other houses offering to be involved. If it continues without such, something is going to fall by the wayside, and the cause will be sunk. I would rather sail a scow tomorrow than go down with my caravel today.

Relationship Note on Clarisse

It is good to see you in good health. It is good to have you walk these halls of our home once more. It has been too long, much to discuss to catch up on. But for now, I'm just blessed to have you returned to us. May the god smile on you in your new home, help you adjust to the work ahead. There is much for a healer to do with the war looming, much to do to protect you as well. I hope, for both of us you are ready for what is coming.
