The language night has not been had in some time, months if not more. But in Bold Expressions, with the smell of the coffee and food, tables heaped with tomes in foreign languages and primers for others, it's hopping as Alarissa made arrangements for it to be held here in the Farshaw owned establishment. Alarissa has been moving from table to table, looking in on those who have wanted her help or to play the game of hostess.

There's a stiffness to her left side, a pale wooden arm sarved of driftwood that emerges from beneath all that layer of gauzy fabric and it's adornments. Departing from a table where people fumble their way through Marin'Alfar, she smiles and heads for the blue couches and any who might be there. Carefully, oh so carefully she sits, with nary a waver on her way down and looks over the great room with a smile.

Cuddles, a jumpy and cuddly puppy arrives, following Kanean.

1 Crimson Blades Sergeant, Rurik, a prodigal assistant, Aegis, a large red Oakhaven bloodhound arrive, following Mirk.

Zoey has a plate of food in hand already, and listens around the room for any languages that she either wants to learn or already speaks and wants to practice. She too heads to the blue couches while more attendees come in.

Zoey has joined the a pair of sea blue leather couches on a handwoven blue rug.

Kanean walks in with puppy in hand, the tinkle of bells coming from his hair as he looks about, a sort of half-smirk on his face as he enters. The young Rivenshari has come for the studies, it would seem, a bit of snow in his dark hair, and on his long coat as he glances about.

Lisebet has not been to Bold Espressions, oh, for a day or three. She stops by often, even if she's not technically a Farshaw any more. Today it might actually be accidental that she arrives at the same time as the language night. Or it might be on purpose. She comes in the door and stops cold, blinking. And then a big smile on her face, as she listens to the ongoing conversations that are audible where she is, heading to the counter to order her coffee before joining in the fun.

Mirk walks in right on time, quietly finding himself a seat at one of the couches, folding his hands in his lap and eyeing the crowd with a speculative air, as if gauging who is there and how many might show up. There's a nod of his head to Lisebet, in polite greeting, as he does.

Mirk has joined the a pair of sea blue leather couches on a handwoven blue rug.

"Lady Kennex." Alarissa smiles. 'I didn't realize you spoke more than one tongue. Or have you come to learn to speak more than one?" She asks softly, reaching for a cup of tea.

Drusila steps inside the shop as a language exchange was offered, giving a gesture to guards to go wait over there. She does glance around to see who might be here.

"I speak five, not including Arvani," she says. "But I'm curious to see what others might be willing to teach."

Coffey in hand, Lisebet turns to see who else is around. "Your Highness," she greets Alarissa, with a smile. But she doesn't otherwise interrupt the conversation. The duchess sips her coffee instead, curiously gazing over at Zoey and then back to Alarissa. "Is it Language Night? I have missed such opportunity to learn."

Kanean doesn't fit. Not in a gathering like this. He continues to pet his pup behind the ears before he makes his way over to the counter and orders a drink. He leans onto it, not minding taking up a little bit of time as he attempts at least to flirt with the woman behind it. "Languages hmmmm? I am sure I can help teach a few words at least that people probably haven't heard. Spend enough time in mercenary camps and you learn all sorts of clever ways of saying things." Yeah...he's probably not getting far but it's been a while since he's been in the city. Give him a chance to warm up. He does drop the occasional Rivashari phrase to her, though doesn't translate them, as she likely looks nonplussed before taking his drink and starting to see what people are sharing with each other.

Drusila has joined the a small table under the window.

"Five." Alarissa smiles, looking suitably impressed. "May I ask which?" And there's Lisebet and Alarissa rises -now she's a little wobbly- and leans forward to press a kiss to Lisebet's cheek and murmur in another tongue to her.

Alarissa says in Marin'alfar, "Duchess Lisebet. You look radiant and lovely. It's been a long time. I thought to get out of Thrax and practice some words."

Mirk glances aside at Kanean, raising an eyebrow, but he doesn't comment. Instead, he only follows suit in saying, "I can offer lessons in Northlands Shav, if anyone has a mind to learn, but apart from that...It might be a matter of discussion. Not the most exciting of contributions, I'm afraid." There's a self-deprecating chuckle, near the end.

Lisebet stays still, politely, but there is affection on her face as she is kissed on the cheek. She grins at the murmur before replying gently, and then turning to look at Zoey as well. "M'Lady Kennex, a pleasure to see you again. I am impressed at anyone who speaks multiple languages, well done."

Zoey grins when she hears Alarissa greet the Duchess.

Lisebet says in Marin'alfar, "You are too kind, your Highness, thank you. It has been a little while, yes, indeed. It is good to see you, also looking very well and beautiful as always. Practicing words is a necessity, lest we forget how to speak."

Zoey says in Marin'alfar, "I speak Marin'alfar, for one. It is a pleasure to see you as well, Duchess.""

Drusila lifts a hand to order coffee, and back to people watching she goes as various languages are being talked at different tables. It's all very interesting.

Alarissa says in Marin'alfar, "And so we expand the pool of those who speak Marin'Alfar.""

Alarissa smiles at that, once again easing back down, adjusting the wooden arm to drape it across her lap. Keanan and that puppy are regarded as is Mirk and his offer of Northlands Shav. That garners a wrinkle of her nose.

Anemone, a watchful black cat arrives, following Sabrina.

Elizabetta, a disapproving lady-in-waiting, Lily, an aloof lady-in-waiting, 2 Grayson House Guards, Clark, an exasperated guard arrive, following Sabella.

Lisebet smiles over at Zoey as well, not disturbed to be understood by the other woman. "Indeed we do," she says simply. A nod to Lord Mirk as she definitely recognizes him. "I think I should first learn the language spoken by those of the Crownlands, maybe. Or else Nox'alfar though I am hardly certain which to learn next."

"If it's Nox'alfar you decide to seek, we might work something out," Zoey tells Lisebet. "I also speak Sylv'alfar and have recently learned Eurusi."

'Are there any others who wish to learn the tongue of our Queen Symonesse?" Alarissa calls out.

Sabrina's dark eyes sweep over the room's inhabitants as she enters, a cloak pulled tightly around her to help banish the chill from outdoors. A nod is given should any grant her a cursory glance in greeting, but before troubling herself with people, she first orders a drink, "Endless Dark," with an interested flash across her features. The reality that it is, in fact, still coffee, is one she swallows down in the literal sense, with a tentative blow, blow, sip to prevent a scorched throat.

Merek makes his way into the place, looking about while he finds a place to settle in also!

Mirk wrinkles his nose at the mention of Nox'alfar, though he doesn't comment.

Disa, the white Bonespire mare, Eira arrive, following Volcica.

Elizabetta, a disapproving lady-in-waiting have been dismissed.

Lily, an aloof lady-in-waiting have been dismissed.

2 Grayson House Guards have been dismissed.

Clark, an exasperated guard have been dismissed.

Lisebet smiles at Zoey and inclines her head. "I too also speak Sylv'alfar already," she admits quietly. She sips her drink, glancing over to those not speaking so much, offering a smile to Drusila and Merek.

Zoey says in Eurusi, "Ah, but do you speak Eurusi, my Lady?""

A gust of cool wind accompanies Korka as she ducks into the coffee house, pulling back the hood of her cloak and kicking the door shut behind her with a shiver. She shakes off some of the snow on her shoulders before moving into the room proper, taking a moment to survey who is sitting where. And which strange words seem to match up with the others.

Drusila sips her coffee and says a hello to Lisabet who smiles at her. But that smile stops when she hears Eursani speaking. A frown crowns the face.

Kanean is having fun, taking a sip of his drink as he doesn't mind a hint of the whipped cream that lingers after the sip of the frothy coffee, before he licks his lips and cleans it away. He does listen to all the chatter, especially the sound of the 'alfar going back and forth between those. "You have all spent a lot of time on this so far..." he says, curiously, amused, each of his nods of the head or the movements as he keeps the pup from running out of his arms sends his bells tinkling with the little movements as he makes his way about listening.

Sir Jesmond the Giant, Puff, a dainty yellow-green canary arrive, following Arcadia.

Volcica steps in moments after Korka, echoing a lot of the other woman's motions. Her hood is pushed back, her cloak pulled off and hung nearby. Dark eyes skim the room for familiar faces, and the Stahlben finds herself gravitating in Mirk's general direction among the group.

Arcadia is bouncing behind Volcica. Literally bouncing. It's impossible to whisper when the reciever is heads and shoulders taller. Murmured snippets of Fire, archery and Lord Darren can be heard as the Stahlben's make their way to Mirk.

"Or it would seem, Eurusi" Alarissa calls out. "If there are any who also have tongues that they wish to share with others, speak up. So that we may match teacher to student."

Lisebet looks curiously over at Zoey with her words spoken, not understanding them. A smile though as it is a language she doesn't already know. She turns to Kanean with a nod. "Indeed, it is something that some of us do take relatively seriously," she puts in. And then there are Stohlbens arriving and her lips quirk again, as she takes in the bouncing Arcadia. Her gaze back to Alarissa. "I think you have the total of my languages to share, though I will admit I also do speak Oathlands Shav."

Sabrina settles in to a seat by the window opposite Drusila, people watching over the brim of her cup. "Drusila," Sabrina greets her gently once seated. The foreign tongues fluttering around them offer plentiful distractions, and she stares at the linguists as if doing so long enough will decrypt their meanings. "Have you come to teach, to learn... or to watch?"

Mirk nods his head to Arcadia and Volcica, in greeting, and moves over to guarantee there'll be enough space at the couch to seat everyone. "Languages do tend to be time consuming projects, whether one wants to be fluent or merely not embarass oneself," he comments to Kanean in a dry tone. "But with our world being widened and widened with each passing year..."

Sabrina has joined the a small table under the window.

Volcica has joined the a pair of sea blue leather couches on a handwoven blue rug.

"I don't know any other languages, although I am curious as to what people are willing to teach," Korka replies to Alarissa, moving over to lean a shoulder to the wall beside the fireplace.

Drusila says to Sabrina over her cup of coffee, "A little of everything, but right now just listening and observing. Lots of languages I don't know being talked, and that I think is a good thing as it hopefully bridges culture divides. I'm waiting to hear if someone speaks or offers a language I'm particularly interested in. How about you?"

"I know I'm a bit late, but would anyone mind going over which languages are on offer tonight? I only have the Northland shav dialect to share." She offers Mirk a small smile, taking a seat at the couches when he scoots over. She also orders two coffees, both from the Everwinter blend.

Korka has joined the a cozy reading nook near the bookcases and fireplace.

Arcadia agrees with Vola, "I only know Northlands Shav too." Settling and adding way too much sugar to her coffee, she asks curiously, "How many known languages are there?"

Sabrina lofts her brows at the answer, taking interest and nodding. "Much the same for me. We have come upon a bazaar in which the wares are words. I am waiting to hear the right offer." Kohl-lined eyes taken in the woman across from her, then back to the crowd with her head inclined.

"Ahh but the widening only makes it smaller, does it not? Bringing so many things together," he says as he finds a spot on the floor to settle down indian style with his drink, letting his pup loose now as Cuddles jumps about and starts immediately going about and sniffing the many different scents of shoes and dress hems and pants. So the pup goes about sniffing as he nods to Mirk then before looking back to Lisebet. "I trust you are all the better then for all the work at it. I have not learned too many yet but the idea of working on it intrigues me. I was curious to see how you all share your teachign of such things here."

Arcadia has joined the a pair of sea blue leather couches on a handwoven blue rug.

"The languages of those who are allies, enemies or undecided are offered." Alarissa calls out. "Eurusi, Nox'Alfar, Marin'Alfar, Sylv'Alfar can be found in my corner, need need for a trade in tongues." The Princess Consort offers.

Korka tilts her head towards Alarissa, "I'd be interested in one of those, but," she drawls, eyeing the crowd around the Princess, "You seem to be in great demand already."

Lisebet glances at Alarissa and smiles. "I can offer to teach as well, though I do not speak Nox'Alfar, or Eurusi." A smile and a gentle request. "Might I start with some lessons from you, Your Highness, in learning the language of the Nox'Alfar?" That asked, she smiles. "Or if there are many, perhaps Lady Zoey will be pleased to share?"

"I am happy to share any of those four," says Zoey. "That is assuming that we can negotiate a fair trade."

"I'll meet with you for tea Duchess, and teach you the language of our queen. No need for trade, I assure you." There's a glance to Zoey, a bit of a frown from Alarissa then to Korka as she calls over. "Name the one and I shall see to teaching as well. I can spare some hours each week." And there's a puppy at the couches and Alarissa regards the creature before reaching over with her right to stroke along the hind of the dog. 'Aren't you a lovely thing."

A glance to Zoey, but really, Alarissa's deal is more appealing at this point. Lisebet smiles and inclines her head. "I would be entirely pleased to meet with you for tea, and languages," she says simply to the Princess. "Thank you, your Highness." She shrugs delicately, and gives the puppy a glance, though does not move to pet the animal. She glances over to Kanean and nods her head. "Interesting perspective. Are you looking to learn? I'm certain we could manage to find a teacher if so?" she offers. "What language interests you?"

Kanean watches his pup get scratched and the puppy shows it truly has no loyalty as cuddles sidles up to Alarissa, tail wagging and tongue lolling as if they had been friends since birth. "Traitor," he says with a grin to his dog as he looks back to Lisebet then. "At some point. Eurusi would be an intriguing one to study but tonight is just about watching and seeing how this works. But thank you for asking," he intones, dipping his head and bringing his hands together in a salutation of sorts before he rises to his feet, the tinkle of his bells drawing the attention of Cuddles who licks Alarissa's fingertips if allowed before heading over to Eshra.

"I'm interested in the same as the Duchess," Korka nods towards Lisebet, "But I haven't got anything to trade for it except my sparkling personality and propensity towards endless questions."
