Vellichor's Renewal is being described as scholars acting as Mercies, but towards books. This public gathering is not the start of the renewal, but an invitation to those who are interested in learning more and potentially volunteering.

Sir Floppington, the soulful hound arrives, following Rowenova.

Nallah, a buff-looking tortie cat with green eyes, 2 House Mazetti Aspirants, Sirra, a very quiet maid arrive, following Alessia.

Eina, the Pearl's Own, Soot, a frenetic ferret arrive, following Peri.

With a couple gaudy tournament belts criss crossed over her armored torso in bandolier style as well as a brand new spanking coat which form fits her, the Halfshav servant (Scout Rowenova) strides forth into the teaology tearoom, doing so with a soulful hound (Sir Flop) trotting along beside her, too.

Ramona - A Guard in Ashford House Colours, Bigsby - A Thoughtful Looking Young Man in Nondescript Clothing, 2 Ashford Archer, 1 Ashford Scout arrive, following Lisebet.

Red hair piled up on her head and schewered through with a couple of wooden hair sticks, the woman in mauve and deep red is a cacaphony of color and life as she steps in to the tea room. She quickens her step to catch the back of Rowenova's cowel, giving it a light, teasing tug.

The event is a quietly organized one. Teacarts and biscuits and other things you might not see in the rest of the academy, but that tend to go well with sitting to read and share company. Sparte is is himself a little late because of an issue with one of the teacarts, but show he does wheeling in the last one himself. "I'm terribly sorry to anyone who was made to wait. This is all something of a new addition to the Vellichorian Academy, sort of still in process. If you'll look to the carts I included leaflets helping to explain Vellichor's Renewal for each of you to look over. In the style of bad poetry, since I lack the knack for good poetry." (look renewal)

With his scarf wrapped around his neck and the lower half of his face, Evander might've been difficult to recognize if his tall, thin frame weren't so distinctive, quite apart from the fact that he takes a moment after arriving to cough quietly to one side. It gives him an opportunity not only to regard the room but those within, both familiar faces and not.

Lisebet enters quietly, glancing over as she hears Sparte speaking. She smiles, glances around with a nod of approval, and then makes her way to a seat, where she can settle in and listen, supporting the Scholars, the renewal and here to help, more than anything. The petite duchess removes her cloak, handing it off to an attendant, and settles down.

Nova does not turn in time to those steps which come up behind her before the wolfy helm is tugged back just slightly, likely showing platinum strands which had remained hidden before. She peeks back over the shoulder of her recently-won coat and wolfishly grins, "Greetings, you." says she to Thorn. "How have you been? I meant to write you since we last spoke, but then I never quite found the right words besides thank you for trying to help me." Stepping back, she briefly hugs Thorn in one arm since the other one has the wicker handle of an empty basket over it. Meanwhile, the soulful hound is happily greeting various people. He eventually stops to look up at Evander, sitting down, and tail wagging right there beside him. Nova speaks up to their current host, "Thank you, Guardsman Sparte. This will help me with my personal library." Since when do Northerners keep writing collections?!

Thorn smiles a bit to Nova. "Any time, I had a few bad days maybe I'll tell you about at some time too." She returns the hug to the scout and then moves over to find a bit of wall to lean on, listening and watching.

Merek has made his way to the Teaology room to listen, longcoat adjusted about his black attire, while he takes a moment to look about.

Peri ambles into the Tearoom. She is all eyes for the new addiition to the academy. "I can imagine spending hours here reading," She tells Eina. She hushes as Sparte comes out with a cart and pamplhets. She reads the explanation of the renewel, "No one has explained it quiet this way to me before, thank you Sparte." She has a smale for Dame Tommelisa but treats her with measured dignity. Sir Flop gets a big head scratch, by contrast. "Hello Nova. Lord Evander! Nice to see you looking not too poorly after that affair yesterday."

Evander's gaze fixes on Sparte, listening intently, nodding. As one of the tea carts passes by him, he takes one of the cups of tea and a leaflet, drawing his scarf down from his face. "Is this related to the work Archsholar Sina has been leading within the Great Archive?" he asks, voice rough. "I have been helping, though I'm afraid the dust often gets the better of me. It is progressing nicely, though." He doesn't seem to notice the hound by his feet, or at least doesn't look down, instead focused on the leaflet as if the written word is more compelling for his attention. He looks up when he's addressed, a tiny smile offered to Peri. "Lady Peri," he says, "Thank you. And you, too."

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Rowenova before departing.

Sparte finds a seat now that the refreshments have been managed. He glances around, giving people a little while to read the samples. "We'll be doing the first official session for Vellichor soon. Though, to really make this succeed, I will need help. Thirteen events within the year are a lot, and while I have set aside funds to thank the scribes and scholars that do the repairs to donated texts, the broader the support the more people will engage with this. I know healing books might seem small in the face of the other threats mounted against us, but it is important."

Damien Pierce - A Charming Assistant, 1 Redreef Warden, Vagari - Cinder Kitten, 1 Obsidian Order, 4 Byrne Mountain Men arrive, following Mikani.

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Thorn before departing.

Alessia Mazetti, removing her coat and draping it around an empty seat, settles in with a scrutinising glance around the room. "Good day, all." She greets with a faint smile, though her amber eyes are inquisitive.

With a nod, Nova lets go of Thorn. She sends a smile to Peri, "Good to see you, Lady Peri." Meanwhile, Sir Floppington happily accepts those wonderful pets from that same Lady, doing so with a little lean against her. Nova picks up a renewal leaflet and quietly reads through it. She sets down that same leaflet before moving back to pour up a little tea in a cute cup with a biscuit side upon the associated saucer, too. "Greetings, Lady Alessia."

Mikani enters with a slight limp. Her eyes move about the room. Seeing Peri and Evander she grins and waves at them. "Good evening."

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Rowenova before departing.

Damien Pierce - A Charming Assistant have been dismissed.

1 Redreef Warden have been dismissed.

Vagari - Cinder Kitten have been dismissed.

1 Obsidian Order have been dismissed.

4 Byrne Mountain Men have been dismissed.

"Hi Mika," Peri hands Mikani a pamphlet. "I wonder if people from all lands would bring their books for renewel?"

"Scout Rowenova." The glaivedancer returns the greeting. Scanning the words on the leaflet, as her maid retrieves a copy from the cart, the corners of Alessia's lips perk up as reaches the end. Glancing up at Sparte, she rests the item on the table with a nod. "To the preservation of knowledge."

There's a slight furrow of brow from Evander, but he doesn't repeat his question, as soft as his voice is. Instead, he settles into a chair, sipping his tea, listening. "Countess Mikani," he murmurs, when she greets them. "Are you well?" he asks, regarding her limp.

"Not everyone has books they cherish. Old books, books we grew up with or our family held dear." Sparte gives Peri a sad shrug. "It is a luxury in some places. So we're also going to give away books. Two different, coinciding efforts to encourage people to preserve knowledge." Sparte looks over to Alessia, giving her a small smile. "To the preservation of knowledge."

Thorn listens quietly for a time before she speaks, "What about the preservation of some of the older journals in the archives? I am not a bookish person but I feel that maybe we could do some work there and in doing so review some knowledge that may have been forgotten?"

At Mikani's arrival, Nova smiles first then looks concerned but does not ask. Then, she smiles again after Alessia's greeting, then she looks back to her fellow commoners: Sparte and Thorn, hearing out their ongoing conversation. Meanwhile, Sir Floppington happily wags as he stays somewhere close to Peri.

Sparte looks over to Thorn. "The scholars are already seeing to the preservation of the knowledge in the stacks. I agree, that is important, but it is already happening under the guidance of the Archscholar. However..." Sparte glances around at the others assembled. "The books people take home and keep, sometimes for generations, can go without the care of a scholar. This is an attempt to help the community."

"How can I help?" Peri asks. "If I'm in the city I will." She's grimfaced. "Things are going to get serious rather fast come the thaws."

Evander clears his throat, trying to speak a little louder than his usual soft murmur, "Perhaps it would benefit to teach people how to renew their own works. Unless you intend on this being an ongoing project?" he inquires of Sparte. "In which case, I am happy to offer my support in an ongoing capacity as well."

Thorn listens and nods slightly to Sparte's explination. "That's good to know, thank you."

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Thorn before departing.

Sparte nods to Evander. "One of the texts we hope to release with the first renewal will be copies of a guidebook for how to maintain texts. Sort of like a text you'd offer someone who were training to be a scholar. I've been reviewing a few existing texts personally in preparation of drafting something non-Scholars could make use of." Sparte looks over to Peri. "I am opening up to the events to outside groups, be they houses or organizations, to sponsor. Ten thousand silver to reward those who do the book mending and to pay for their supplies, and you will receive the thanks of the scholars for it as well as having your donation mentioned at the event. More practically..." Sparte glances over towards his fellow scholars in the room. "We need people from within the scholars to host some of the events. Brother Gregory has already agreed to host one, but that leaves twelve under my care. I'm prepared to shoulder that if I must." Sparte smiles. "But this is about community too. People should see other scholars leading this, ones who care about this sort of thing as much as I do."

A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Evander before departing.

Evander gives an approving nod to Sparte at his response. He seems to think for a moment, glancing down at his tea. He's interrupted by a messenger, glancing at the note with a muted thanks, before he lifts his gaze back to Sparte. "I can't guarantee my health will be up to it," the thin Kennex says, softly. "But if someone wants to co-host with me, that might be a safer outcome."

"Sea charts and cookbooks," Peri reads, "for Mangata." She looks up from the pamphlet. "I would love to sponsor that. I hope to make more charts, you see." She scans the pamphlet again, "And Skald is precious to my family. We should sponsor his renewel."

Thorn looks around the room thoughtfully, "I would be happy to host something that has to do with books and knowledge around plants and hunting and the natural world for Petrichor."

There are tea carts, so there are probably tea desks, too. Nova sits down and spreads out her tea time and her writing supplies. She has a new quill which actually seems to be a white/blue feather: a bit different than the usual crow with which she is usually seen. Beige paper. Black ink. Left handed. Then, calling over Sir Flop, she sends off the first one. "Seeing if we can set up something at the Grand Library in the Redrain Arena. Not sure on that just yet."

Peri looks at Nova, "You have a Grand Library." Is it a statement because there is no question that Peri should know about this, capital letters and all.

"I cn host something as well," Lisebet says, though she does get to her feet, in order to slip out. "Perhaps for Lagoma? Or Our Lady of Endings, if either will help?"

Sparte gets out a quill and some parchment, hurriedly taking notes on what everyone is interested in doing. His expression shows that he is very encouraged to hear so many people want to be involved, but he is sort of focused on the writing.

To Peri, Nova nods. "We do. Brand new. Shall we go visit it after this?" Then, to the whole room, "We could all go after the renewal event, if you like." Then, she scribes down a few more of her own words, mirroring how Sparte is.

Benny The Beaver arrives, delivering a message to Evander before departing.

Peri pushes her tea fixings aside as she dashs off a note. "Off you go little one." She sends Soot on his way. "Father will love this idea," She claims to Eina. "Nova, that sounds lovely." Peri pokes Mika. "What do you think?"

Ramona - A Guard in Ashford House Colours, Bigsby - A Thoughtful Looking Young Man in Nondescript Clothing, 2 Ashford Archer, 1 Ashford Scout leave, following Lisebet.

Sparte finishes the notes on what has been said so far, glancing up and around. "I want to thank you all. I think that is everything for today, unless people have other questions, please feel free to stay and eat and drink to your content."

Peri speaks with Sparte about finding a host for him.

Thorn pushes off the wall and nods, "Thank you," She tells Sparte before she heads to the door.
