Comments and Log
The manor house has been decorated with fresh floral arrangements and silk banners with the Moore blazon. The oak table has been set with a variety of Lycene wines, northern liquors, and assorted other beers, juices, and teas alongside delicacies and desserts for any to partake of.
As Tessa makes her announcement, Tarrant enters the main room with a short exhale. "Tessa," he greets with a slowly drawn breath.
Charlaine seated near her newly wedded husband, drinking a cream style soda. A look of happiness in the Blanchard - now Moore's eyes as she holds Tarrants hand. Her small fox curled up in a bed near her. Tessa wanders into the room and she squeezes Tarrants hand before she looks warrily between the siblings a thin eye raised.
"I do not either." This from Alarissa who comes to stand beside Tessa, looking over at the younger woman. "A wedding reception in doors while the weather is nice. I'll not pretend who silly that is too." Trying to deflect. "But we will make the best of it." She offers her arm to Tessa.
Tessa checked composure + etiquette at difficulty 15, rolling 4 lower.
Tessa stoops down to pick up Sir Pupsalot and glares at Tarrant. "Don't take that tone of voice with me Tarrant Moore." She growls, her cheek pressed into the back of the Corgi's head. Her gaze turns to Alarissa and nope she can't make herself smile. She stalks over to the princess and reaches to take her arm with her free hand. "You still haven't sent me my dress." She rumbles.
Alarissa checked composure + etiquette at difficulty 15, rolling 33 higher.
"Now who sounds like our parents," Tarrant sighs, a bit terse at Tessa's 'don't take that tone' growl. "Remind me, which dress is this?" the knight prompts of his sister, before greeting Alarissa with a deep bow, "Princess Alarissa, a good eve unto your Highness, and my belated apology for the present tyranny of walls," he adds lightly, with a smile curling his lip.
Charlaine gives a little nod of her head to Alarissa, "thank you for attending our small reception and coming to share this day with us Highness." she greets Alarissa respectfully following her husbands lead easily, her fingers release his hand before she sips on the milk soda with evident enjoyment. The Fox at her side lifts its small head and yipps at the dog.
"A dress, I promised, andd still do intend to keep, when things stop burning enough." Alarissa utters to Tessa. "I keep my promises. I might even throw a necklace into the lot while I am at it." But Tarrant is bowing and Charlaine greeting. "You were my Lady in Waiting and I could not just drop a messenger." A wave of her hand, a smile for Tessa. "So I have come, to wish you both congratulations from House Thrax and our hope that you will, at some point in the future, take our offer of a journey to Maelstrom and a time spent away from the city to enjoy what there is to offer. Travel by ship included."
Tessa narrows her eyes dangerously at Tarrant and it's a testiment to Tessa's affection for the Corgi in her arms that the dog isn't hurled at her brother. "Princess Consort do you have any terribly roguish pirates in Thrax who would like to join a Valardin family? Especially the sort that my brother would absolutely hate that you can introduce me to?"
Charlaine mmms a little as she looks to Tessa, and she shares a word with Tarrant, before she gives a nod of her head to the man beside her. "The necklace I had Tarrant give to you was given to me by Princess Marian, I do hope you like it." she says
Tarrant dips his head and shoulders to Alarissa at the invitation, "Such would be a most welcome journey, Highness." He returns a quiet word to Charlaine, before answering Tessa, "That would be quite impossible. Any fellow that suitably adored my dear sister is not a gentleman I could hate."
"Prince Abbas." Alarissa replies off the cuff. "Prince Galen." The names are rolling. "Lord Archeron Tyde. I suppose you could do well with Lord Ian Kennex, if you wish to tie oneself to kennex. There is the Baron Ed-no, he's marrying the lady Darkwater. I'm sure I could find... Master Sparte I suppose." Fingers drums on Tessa's arm and she looks to the dog. "I miss elegance. But good. You will just let me know Baron, and I will ensure that we can fulfil such. Maelstrom si lovely
Tessa's eyes narrow a bit at Tarrant he's not even giving her the satisfaction of being disquieted by her threats. "The necklace is lovely Charlaine, it matches my eyes so of course it's perfect." She looks at Alarissa with disappointment. "Maybe I'll marry a Greyson then all of those seem very troublesome. You must have a handsome cousin you could introduce me to. Besides the King. I know him already and tragic as it is, he seems to be very fond of his wife."
Charlaine looks to Tessa then seriously "you could, choose Barron Silas if you do not mind Prince Aiden being in the mingling, could be fun I suppose." she teases softly though she quiets as more guests join them. She beams happily, "Welcome! do join us for wine and dinner and dancing!" she beams a happy glowing smile to the guests.
Tarrant and Charlaine have risen from their seats at the well appointed table to greet Alarissa and Tessa, though there is a measure of tension in the air.
Tarrant smiles in good humor to his sister's lament, before following Charlaine's greeting to, "Count and Countess Keaton; a fair eve find you both."
"Barric" Without hesitation there. "I'll introduce you to Prince Barric. he is my brother. Baron Whitehawk is lovely, but common born and you are ambitious. Prince Barric, it is settled." Alarissa pats Tessa's arm again, diverting the womans attention from the pair in front of them, to husband hunting for the poutier woman. "I saw your journal. Nannies. Nursemaid. Plenty of both. I have no desire to deal with anything fluidic from this child. A thraxian fleet of them."
The front door opens and the Count and Countess Keaton arrive. Reigna is no longer smuggling a watermelon under her gown and is instead starting to look a littl emore like her usual self. Her gown is a little too big, evidence that she's yet to fully replace her old wardrobe, but then again, it's only been a few days. That might also explain the mincing quality to her step and the fact that she still uses Kael as a support. She's beaming though, and nods to Tarrant as he approaches. "Hello and congratulations!"
Tessa seems relieved by yAlarissa's pronouncement. "Wonderful." She looks over the Count and Countess as they arrive. "Countess. Congradulations. You're free at last!"
Soon behind the Count and Countess Keaton is the Voice of Telmar himself, Lord Corban Telmar, with a bright smile for the newly married couple. "Baron Tarrant. And Baroness Charlaine. My, how wonderful that sounds. Congratulations to you both!"
Isn't the doting supposed to be over? It is, perhaps, but nonetheless Kael is absolutely watching his wife like a hawk and there is not even a newborn in tow with them. He has one arm slipped around Reigna's waist, holding her snug and secure, while the other is lifted and over for her to be gripped by way of support. Did he carry her the distance over? Perhaps, but perhaps not. Still, with the entry into the Manor House, he dares look away from her to take in the gathering as a whole. He inclines his head in a deep, humble sort of motion. "Well met and congratulations!" he offers forth with ease. "May Limerance shine upon you both."
Tarrant meets the congratulations with a composed smile, voicing to the Telmar, "The title does indeed have a fair sound, my Lord. I pray you, eat and drink as you wish. Such days are for revelry." Kael and Reigna are answered, "And my full hearted congratulations to you both in turn at the young Keaton's hale birth."
Charlaine smiles softly as she looks over to the count and countess, she smiles as she greets them before she looks over to Corban "thank you for coming as well." A gentle step as she moves back over to Tarrant and she smiles in agreement, "oh yes heirs a plenty I can not wait to meet the youngin."
"Count, Countess." offered to Reigna and Kael after they've been greeted, her arm still in Tessa's, smiling. There's tiredness around the eyes, it's been a long day, but she's here. "Lord Telmar." Calling out.
Corban makes his way forward to Tarrant and shakes his hand firmly, patting the baron on the shoulder, in a manly sort of gesture. Passed in the moment is a slip of paper, the Telmar saying, "A small gift from me to you both and to your House. For use in the Baroness's studies or to grow your own interests."
"My gratitude," offers forth Kael in turn toward Tarrant, bowing his head to the congratulations offered forth. When his chin lifts he boasts, in a way only a new father can, "He is absolutely beautiful." That is likely in response to Charlaine. Now, there's at least a stifling of newborn talk, at least on his end, though he is turning to press a brief kiss to his wife's brow before escorting her further in.
Tessa pushes on a clearly forced smile for Corban, "Lord Telmar." She leans a little towards Alarissa, her defacto 'date' for this party, her head leaning towards the princess consort's.
"Thank you, thank you. I am so pleased for you. Limerance will smile on you, I hope." Reigna smiles to Charlaine and Tarrant, before looking to Tessa, "And my thanks to you, Lady Tessa!" Reigna's eyes lift to her head and there is a momentary flicker of disappointment. "You got your gift, yes?" To Alarissa, there's a nod, "Greetings, Princess-Consort."
Tarrant accepts the handclasp, and with it the slip of paper. Discreet enough not to look at it here and now in front of everyone, the young baron dips his head, "A most gracious gesture, Lord Telmar. Our thanks to you." A ready smile to Kael at the Count's appraisal of his newborn heir. "With such a mother, there could have been no doubt."
Tessa looks up from her conversation with Alarissa and actually manages a real smile for Reigna, "Indeed it's perfect. And I am coordinating an outfit worthy of it. I am thinking a lovely blush of spring sea silk."
"Lady Tessa. Always a pleasure." But is it, Corban? Is it? He nods an acknowledgment to Tarrant's thanks. "Not at all." But then he moves on to greet the bride, leaning down to give Charlaine a kiss on the cheek. "Baroness. I hope this means you will not be too noble to go into the stacks with me to research from time to time."
"Indeed." Kael flashes a smile toward Tarrant with such an offer, and thereafter he too is focusing in on Tessa and Alarissa. There is a bow of his head, almost a bow in full, toward the pair of them. "Princess Consort Alarissa Thrax," he says, with the lift of his chin and continues on thereafter with, "And Lady Tessa Moore. I hope that you are both faring well."
A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Corban before departing.
Charlaine laughs softly to her scholar friend, "Never, Lord Corban, I enjoy the books way to much to suddenly forget the excitement parchment brings." she says with a grin before she looks to Tarrant as he compliments the newborn with a little flush she shifts "I would like just once dance with you before our night is over." she teases her husband softly.
Tarrant answers Charlaine with a small smile, "I can hardly refuse such a request, my Lady; on this day, of all days." Half turning to offer his hand to the bride with a short now from the waist, he bids the minstrel strike up a tune.
Olenna arrives, delivering a message to Tessa before departing.
When Charlaine is taken off by her husband to dance, Lord Corban turns his attentions to the Keatons. "Countess Reigna. What a blessing you have been given. I am so pleased our prayers have been answered. I shall like to meet the lordling when you feel it up to it. And Count Kael, you must be proud beyond belief."
Tessa's eyes roll and she sighs dematically. "I am alive Count Kael, I believe that's the best that can be asked for."
"Lord Corban, good evening, I do hope you're well?" Reigna beams at the man's words and nods, "Thank you, thank you. We have been amazingly blessed. We are receiving guests to come and meet our Squall, yes. Though my heart breaks to be away from him, the bride and groom deserve all of the attention tonight." She looks then to Tessa, brows lifted curiously before she glances at Charlaine.
There is a pinch to Kael's mouth, but he swiftly obscures his expression with another, swift kiss to his wife -- this time to her temple. It's the more discreet cough, evidently. "I would be very disappointed if it was otherwise, Lady Moore." This commentary is punctuated with a tip of his head toward her, a swift and brief thing, before he is focusing in on Corban with the words offered from him. "I am exceptionally proud of the strength my wife portrayed, yes." After a heartbeat, he adds, "Your prayers?" He tips his head, gaze swinging idly from Corban back toward his wife.
"For a safe birth and healthy child, Count Kael," says Corban with a smile. "I hope I do not offend by keeping your family in my thoughts. I shall be by when it is mutually convenient to meet the Squall." He dips his head to them both. "But yes. For tonight, the Baron and Baroness Moore are the stars."
Charlaine dances with Tarrant, enjoying her first dance with her husband. She closes her eyes and she murmers as they step to the music. A love and happiness in her eyes deeply focused on Tarrant.
Alarissa is overheard praising Tarrant for: Woot ya got hitched
Alarissa is overheard praising Charlaine for: Woot! You got hitched!
For his part, Tarrant dances with smooth and graceful steps, a stately and dignified manner maintained throughout, as he returns quiet words to Charlaine.
Tessa seems relieved at what ever Alarissa whispers to her, she nods eagerly to the princess consort. "Of course, come right this way."
"Congratulations" Alarissa offers, after consultation with Tessa. "Charlaine, I'm delighted. Baron Moore, take good care of her. I am in need of rest and the lady Moore offers her place for a drink and such in quiet. I shall return again!" Alarissa promises, still on Tessa's arm.
Reigna watches Tarrant and his bride dance, and there is a bite to her lower lip that turns to a chew. There is a little distraction that hits the Countess and a glance down at herself. She leans over to Kael and murmurs something to her husband, though it is paired with a glance to the departing Alarissa and Tessa. There is a slightly uncomfortable shift of her shoulders, the slightly loose bodice shifting a little. "I fear my time away from Squall is coming to an end."
Tessa shoots a stern look at stern look at Tarrant and his dancing bride before she pulls Alarissa out towards the door.
Olenna, Pellinor leave, following Alarissa.
Sir Pupsalot, a polite, tri-color corgi, Captain Curls, an attentive, ebony guard poodle, Alarissa leave, following Tessa.
Charlaine beams softly to Tarrant, and as Alarissa takes Tessa off there was a look of something in the x-blanchards eyes. She sighs and tucks her head into her husbands shoulder before she lets the dance come to an end. A look to Reigna and then the others, before she once again thanks them all for attending.
"It would be a peculiar thing, Lord Corban, for me to be offended by such a thing," murmurs Kael, his voice a low and smooth thing, punctuated with an easy inclination of his head toward the other man. With the two that are departing, he nods once and then his focus is once more his wife. He bows his head a bit so that his wife can murmur with ease to him, nods once, and then shifts his stance clearly to properly escort her. "Congratulations once more to you all," he says -- albeit not too loudly, for dances between bride and groom must not be interrupted for such little things.
Reigna slips her arm through Kael's and with a wave to Corban and the happy couple, should she catch their eyes, she leans in against Kael and murmurs her farewells, "Limerance bless this home." She moves with that mincing step towards the exit.
