Relationship Note on Medeia

Scholar.
I got distracted from the original direction that this experiment was supposed to go in.

...
I have this delivery that I need to make, then I can go find it.
Learned that more vents will be needed. Though without the vents and some hardened fins. It flies. Don't have any control on it. Though that shouldn't matter just yet!

Oh... Good, it looks to be going in the direction that I need to go for the delivery.

Eeep!

I met this guy Jhond Langst, seems like a good man, really in shape, it's impressive! We talked about the rope-walking I want to learn and he gave me a lot of tips for training.

Relationship Note on Talwyn

I miss my husband so much. We have been married such a short time and already duty took me to Saikland for a period of time... and then to help Ladies Kaia and Zoey with a family problem. I... was injured during that but.. have healed enough to return home now. No scars or lingering problems other than a reluctance to sing for a goodly while.

Bandits were to our west, between Saikland Greens and the late Count Guilio's lands. They were preying on the trails and roads between us on merchants and on some of our vassals and had to be stopped. The area they infested was thickly forested with streams and game trails. The area they inhabited was a circular wooden palisade surrounding an ancient watchtower. Once things have settled, perhas that tower may warrent exploration. There should be signs of some community or buildings or another tower within its line of sight in the distance or signs of for whom they were protectively keeping watch. Most of the bandits were largely poor and hungry and forced into their actions to survive, likely can be taught and eased into our population as productive vassals if they have food and work. And we can watch them for a return to their old ways. Closely watch. The land can be very productive ... and may be a good addition to Saikland Greens.

The mystery of the Lagoma stone has been solved. I can't thank everyone enough for attending and putting your heads together to help figure it out. Hopefully it will aide the compact in the best of ways.

So, a while back Vann helped me tie some ropes from building to building, just a few in the lowers, we tied them to a few rooftops and I've been trying to practice running along them, 'course I'm not crazy so I tied one up above me so I could have a tether, boy did I need it! So now I'm thinking I need to get some more practice with this stuff. If I can run along a rope and teach some soldiers to do it too we could use that during sea battles, or just for running messages..

Kedehern has been teaching me the fine art of telling people what to do in ways that will encourage them to actually listen and even obey. If I were a foot taller and a hundred pounds heavier like him, I think I'd have an easier time of it. Rather than sheer physicality, I shall have to rely mostly on the authority a commanding voice and bearing provides. It should also help if my orders aren't absolutely ridiculous and wrong headed, hence all the reading lately.

I've noticed this same demeanor and manner of speaking is nearly as effective on my furry companions. Marigold nearly obeyed me once yesterday. I saw her begin to do as I'd asked for an instant, before promptly climbing onto my desk and leaving tracks across the open pages of the ledger I'd been reviewing anyway. There was a hesitation, a brief moment of consideration, so I count that as a victory of sorts. Hopefully, Shae can instruct me further. She is without a doubt, peerless at understanding the behaviors of animals.

Relationship Note on Tyche

I have spent an amazingly delightful night at the Inverno Estate with the Diamond Dalliance.
There is a lesson to be learned about oneself when engaged with such challenge - mainly about the difference between greed and ambition.
It also led to some incredible occurance I would never have imagined to come to pass.
Such an exciting night.

It will be my birthday in just three days, Scholar. I am not doing anything so extravagant as I did last year. A small gathering, no presents - just good food and better company. This last week was unpredictably hectic, so I think having a less flashy party is for the best.

Interestingly, almost all of the unpredictability was related to medicine and injury. Much of those details are not mine to share, but I definitely stepped outside of my comfort zone in one case, ended up needing to burn my dress in another, and finally, being so stunned I fled a large gathering. However, I'd be remiss if I didn't express how grateful I am to the Thrax family for trusting me. It is an honor to have been named their family physician. This doesn't mean they won't still call upon others, of course. There will be times when I am away from the city, or otherwise incapable of attending to their needs. But it does mean that I am the one who will be woken up in the dark hours of morning and rushed north across Crimson Square to the estate before anyone else if needed.

I spent a nice, private afternoon with Duchess Cambria yesterday, which was as beautiful as she is. It surprises me that it took being in the city over a year for me to meet her, but now that I have? I will be sure not to let so long pass before spending time in her company again. Our conversation held promise, and I believe we have similar hopes and goals for ourselves - even if we are very different women. If you find yourself with an invitation to tea, I highly recommend taking it.

My new carpentry mentor, Zakhar sent me a woodworking toolkit, it's really nice. I been showing it to my family, showed it to Raja, Samira, my sister Acacia, and Torian at a family dinner. They're being real supportive of me opening my own shop alongside the other Cullers down at Beachwalk.

I havn't been writing in my journals and I know I should, so here goes. I just been fishing and spending time with family a lot, but I've been wantin' to learn carpentry. So I met this guy Zakhar, he says he knew my dad, and he's showing me woodworking and all that.

"Yeah, what is she going to do? She's hosting!" I said.

Mistakes were made.

My friends, never goad a Redrain princess over a deck of cards. You've been warned.

A gentleman by the name Missere Raymesin was asking in his journals whether anyone had "ever have one of those moments where your understanding of the whole world changes and you know you'll never see the world the same way again?"

I have, and often. More times that I can count. Each time different depending on circumstances and state of mine, the company I am keeping, and the way the world and my knowledge of it has been turned upon it's ear.

So many things come to mind when I think of such things. It was a worthy question, though, and one well worthy considering and speaking about. I wish I could perhaps discuss the matter with him, but I do not know the man, sadly. I do, however, wish I assist or at least could convey what my experiences have been, ideally with some intelligence, witty insight, and able and agile tongue. Perhaps one day our paths might cross.

I'm reminded of late that I've not been making enough of an effort to be out and about - perhaps a little too dedicated to my work, and a little too set in my ways with regards to where I'm finding myself when I have a few moments to spare. Barring the Skal'daja deciding to make their arrival plans known to be in the very near future... perhaps I ought spend a few days, before I set to sea and to the Saffron Chain, making some visits so as not to leave words unsaid before the battle comes to us.

Debt, or feeling I'm in debt. It's unfinished business and, Mother knows, I just can't...

Fortunately, this is the copper-for-copper sort, and not one of those that can have different values on either side of the exchange. Or, even worse, the sort that can never be repaid.

I am just shy of a third of the way to settling it.

Winter draws on, but the evenings - and mornings - grow lighter. The spirit lifts, Scholar, and the wind's bite is less vicious. It still has fangs, though, that breeze. It's still lazy, cutting straight through a man instead of going around. It's still sharp enough to pierce the clothes and strike a chill right through you.

How do people live up near the Everwinter? How do they cope, and why would they bother?

I have plans, scholar. So many plans! Now if only I can find a way to get them moving. Or sit. To try and figure them out. Stop looking at me like that! I am too sitting still! That is not my foot tapping on the floor. Now excuse me, I have to run!

I fear that I didn't do as well in the competitions at the beer festival as I would have liked. I far more /enjoy/ beer, perhaps, than compete with it. Still, it was lovely to have something to distract from the snow that's hopefully soon to lift.

Even if the snow lifting means, perhaps, that other more horrible things loom more swiftly than I should like.
