Relationship Note on Lyiana

She brought me not one but two outfits, ready to be completed with accessories. And then she offered a third, all three crafted in aeterna, with breathless patterns and colors. At least one of them, I'm supplying the jewelry of myself. I can't resist. They're too beautiful not to want to be a part of.

Come to the show if you want to see them!

Relationship Note on Oliver

When he isn't trying to fulfill his fantasies as a father of six children in one single go, he's working his hands to death on a beautiful completed ensemble for the fashion show. I don't know how he finds the time, I think it's when I'm exhausted sleeping or running around the city with Crafters' business. I've stolen a few peeks. I'm not saying he's my favorite, but he is my husband and showing off his work is probably one of my favorite things.

Did you see the pants he made Lord Arik Halfshav? Goodness.

Or the cloak he made Alayne? Beautiful.

This show is going to be amazing.

Relationship Note on Duarte

Working with this man has proven both satisfying and lucrative. And he's taking hold of all the communications, the back and forth and the organized arrangements, while letting me handle what I'm best at: herding cats and creative problem solving.

I look forward to more such satisfying endeavors.

Relationship Note on Mirari

I am frantically trying to find all the parts and bits that fit into this show, getting it all together in a single outfit to be displayed, and I know, in the back of my head, I have a mountain of other things to get done only to turn around and-

...find that someone has already done them.

While I wasn't looking, some vibrant, talented woman has gone and set up and decorated most of the Crafters Gallery and forwarded a handful of more jewelry items to complete the looks of at least two other outfits. Thank you, darling.

I should at least act like I'm part of The Discipleship of Skald once in a while, so I should probably start thinking of some kind of event related to The Discipleship of Skald. If anyone has any suggestions, throw them my way, ether publicly or privately!

The Scholar notes that Lady Elloise Leary said: "Write down and say that I will -- that'll be funny. Oh, no, Scholar. You can't write down the whole joke or it doesn't count!"

The last time I wrote something this long was when I presented my treatise "Not My Fault: A Litany of Reasons Why Elloise Leary Should Be Allowed to Use Fire in her Experimentation" to Mom and Dad after I -- er, blew up that thing. How was I supposed to know that the distillation of that rock was going to go up unless I tried it first. Not my fault. The treatise is affectionately called, "Who Needs Eyebrows?"

Relationship Note on Joscelin

The Guildmistress spent a considerable amount of time and effort on the recent commission that I'd placed with her, on behalf of the House. Some months back I received a number of journals from Ostria. Older journals. If I'm to understand these people, the Hydra, then I must look first to their past. You can determine a lot about people from where they've been, where they're from, and their experiences. That delivery granted me those things, in my own hands, to review at my own leisure. One should always keep both eyes to the future. One should spare a portion of the mind for acknowledgement of the past. There are many, many valuable lessons to be found there.

I discovered an entry about an old tradition of the House; a bit of symbolism, if nothing else. A quiet means of displaying unification and acceptance. My wife and I felt it was a fantastic idea to renew that tradition. To pay some respect to the past, as we make the necessary plans to ensure a successful future.

That context exhaustively provided: when it came time to find someone to aid us in the renewal of that tradition? There were certainly many options, but I often turn my eyes to the forerunners in any particular field. Often I refer to these people as "the best". Thus I contacted the Guildmistress of the Crafter's Guild. Our rather sizable order was delivered promptly given the size and scope of the endeavor.

The finished product? Exceptional. Exquisite. Superlative. Remarkable. Marvelous. The reason that it has taken me such a great deal to write this journal and provide this publicly visible thanks to Guildmistress Joscelin Arterius? Is simple. It has been truly difficult to gather together the words necessary to fully capture the life-like nature of the scales, the durability that sits light as a feather on the neck and shoulders, or the obvious focus paid to the intense details that can practically make the knees weak with their beauty.

My satisfaction was so great that by nightfall of the very same day, I'd already presented Mistress Joscelin with another great challenge. Which she accepted to my great relief. Now with bated breath I await notification of her eventual completion, because on that day I know that I will bear witness to a beautiful piece of art that will be quite befitting to intended recipient.

Thank you for aiding House Mazetti in breathing new life into an old tradition. Thank you for not shying from a challenge and when presented with another after exceeding expectations on the first? Readily accepting without hesitation! You have our sincere thanks and appreciation.

For Skald - A rock's potential

A rock is at home when it rests
A calm existance, that might yet dream
Of sailing through the bright sky
Or being a castle's proud foundation
Stacked at the tip of a tall mountain
Or covered in moss in a beautiful canyon
A person uncaring might say it is just a rock
To be someting more takes but a moment
When it is something more to you

Princess Coraline is apparently the princess who insists on doing everything. Has she taken up art and poetry yet? Dare I ask, when does she find time to do all of this. I am convinced she simply never sleeps.

I'm very in demand, me. Not that I'm surprised, bein' so splendid and all. Got some thinkin' to do, mind, just who's representin' me, just who's best for my interests. Whilst I'm givin' a ponder, s'pose I might start workin' on this third draught. Definitely peach, somethin' radiant, somethin' sweet... but every tale's got themself a darkness, ey? Aye... somethin' heated, somethin' ugly... I'll figure it out, me. Always do at that. Have to find me a carpenter, too. Lords above, aren't never gunna have a second to my oneself ever again.
