Lady Sapphira Sanna
Music can change the world because it can change people.
Description: Standing just short of average height, Sapphira is a colorful young woman who easily draws the eye. Thick ash blonde curls frame her heart-shaped face, occasionally hiding her clear blue eyes when it is not tied back. She has a girl-next-door approachableness, made manifest by her easygoing demeanor, cherubic smile and breezy laugh. Her movements are effortlessly graceful, with a certain lyrical cadence to her step.
Personality: Sapphira is a true dreamer and artist. She is always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While her other siblings may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Sapphira seeks to be a fountain of joy and inspiration. She feels accomplishment in even the smallest of smiles.
As a devotee of Limerance, Sapphira is guided by their principles, rather than by logic, excitement, or practicality. She takes her obligations and vows with knight-like seriousness and while she is slow to judge others she does feel profound disappointment when someone she admires fails to keep a promise. She herself is led by purity of her intent, not rewards and punishments.
The few spells of depression which befall her often leads to a drought of inspiration, but like the flowers in spring, Sapphira's creativity, altruism and idealism will always come back.
Background: Like most of the first generation of Whitehawks, Sapphira was born into the wealthy Mercier family of the Crownlands. She grew up with her three siblings in Clemenstone Vale, and had a comparatively blissful and sheltered childhood. Sapphira was often the peacemaker between her more rambunctious siblings and developed a penchant for cheering people up, particularly her shy older sister and broody younger brother. She was her grandfather's favorite, and for her tenth birthday she was gifted an old collection of music and stories he had gathered throughout his travels. The young girl was inspired by what she read, and began to translate the world around her into story and song. While she brought happiness to others, playing music brought happiness to her.
When she was sixteen, with the assistance of her family's social connections, Sapphira secured a spot as the protege of a famous musician - who was consequently also the seraph of Old Oak. There she grew familiar with the northern Crownlands and quickly became a virtuosa specializing in stringed instruments such as the fiddle, the harp and the lute. Dancing and singing also came easily to her. Soon, Sapphira began to be hired to perform at many social functions - balls, festivals, weddings. She made many friends, and even more admirers, and made plenty of contributions to the the songs and stories of the Devotions of Limerance.
When she heard of her cousin Silas being ennobled, and her sister deciding to join House Whitehawk, Sapphira was at a personal crossroad. She felt she could do more with her gifts in the quickly changing world, but she wasn't quite sure how, even as a Devotee. Non-stop concerts and parties could only do so much, however, and Sapphira made the decision to join her family in hope of finding an answer to this question. If not there, perhaps the Faith had the answer...
