The Arterius family is a hodge-podge melting pot of fosterlings, soldiers, commoners, muddled bloodlines and several different cultures. The most recent generation, that of Joscelin Arterius and her adopted sister Ianthe, is the culmination of generations of such melting-pot antics, the women themselves heralding both from Arx, the Saffron Chain, and in some cases, a mysterious origin altogether.
