Clearlake Winter Festival: 1010
May 10, 2019, 8 p.m.
Arx - Ward of House Redrain - Shaman Walk
Comments and Log
Finn the youthful northern puppy arrives, following Thea.
Merek makes his way into the shaman walk path with his umbra cloak on, hood up while he looks about as he comes to the place. He finds a nice place to relax as he does also.
Eina, the Pearl's Own, Soot, a frenetic ferret arrive, following Peri.
Peri drops a heavy wooden log.
Peri drops a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
Acantha is overheard praising Peri: For helping with seating!
The Clearlake Winter Festival is becoming a yearly event, which is nice given the amount of people who like to come out and get free drinks, food and sometimes goodies! The Shaman's Walk has beendecorater with glowing glass lanterns that light the way to the different activities and to the different places where there are food and beverages. One of the favorites tonight being hot chocolate or hot chocolate with a little whiskey. There's mulled wine and whiskey to keep people warm and in good spirits.
At the moment there's a snowman building contest going on between some of the children, but they keep trying to hit each other with snow instead of building. Kids will be kids!
Lady Acantha Clearlake, who is hosting this shindig, is over watching the kids with their snowman building and every once in awhile there's a beaver that is helping one of the children pack on snow to their snowman. Benny is very helpful with these things.
Acantha drops a pine bench near the bushes.
Waldemai had a long walk up from Southport Square, so he beelines for the whiskey table. "Two, please," he says.
Kaldur has joined the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
Peri has joined the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
Michael has joined the a pine bench near the bushes.
Quintin has found himself some hot chocolate, though he opted out of the whiskey for now. He'll just have to keep himself warm with his heavy coat, hood, and scarf. An errant snowball comes hurtling toward him and he takes a step to the side to get out of the way.
Kaldur shouts from nearby, "Peri! Morgan! Over here!"
"...And I will introduce you to everyone I know," Peri tells Morgan.
Peri shouts from nearby, "Kaldur! Morgan! Look! It's Kaldur"
Michael has left the a pine bench near the bushes.
Michael has joined the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
Morgan has joined the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
Morgan shouts loudly from nearby, "Peri! Kaldur! Where?"
Michael Bisland is here...probably playing BABYSITTER to all of these damn Seliki. Kaldur yelling, Peri yelling...Morgan? Morgan not yelling yet. But thats bound to happen. "Kaldur. Nobody can miss you when you style your hair like a tower." Then he plops down onto a log across from them near the cauldron.
Acantha shouts from nearby, "Not in the path of the snowballs!"
Rowena arrives, following Danvir.
Rowena have been dismissed.
Merek looks content to settle in at one of the places to relax a bit, while he takes a drink of some of the whiskey, while he sighs a bit also.
Thea wanders on in. She notices there hot chocolate--with whiskey. Sold! She steps over to grab one, greeting people in her path. Her ears ring at the familiar loud Seliki voices. Thea shifts a bit--safely from the herd?
Michael shouts from nearby, "LADY THEA!"
Morgan doesn't take long to start hollering as well, searching for his cousins and finding them. He grins at Peri and Kaldur, getting comfortable by a fire. Snagging a hot chocolate with whiskey, it looks like it's ideal for yet more shouting. He takes a sip.
Danvir rubs his eyes and looking around when he sees whisey laced Hot Choclate he heads that way weaving through the group and looking for familiar faces
Rukhnis comes down the path with a faint frown, as if wondering what the fuss down the Shaman Walk is all about. She looks somewhat bemused to find so many people here, and for a moment pauses as if contemplating heading straight back the way she came, but then she notices Peri standing at what looks like the warmest spot in the area and goes over to join the group at the cauldron. "Lady Peri," she greets the woman with a bow, adding an extra bow for everyone else she's not acquainted with.
Rukhnis has joined the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
Michael shouts from nearby, "OVER HERE LADY THEA!"
Michael is waving his arms in the air rapidly at Lady Thea Malvici.
Acantha gives a dip of her head to those that pass near her and the children that are building, "Good evening, I hope you all enjoy your time up here." she gives a radiant smile. "Though the kids are trying to find victims....I mean oppents for a snowball fight. So be on your guard." the Clearlake woman tells them. "There's plenty of food and drink." she adds.
Felicia tromps through the snow from the direction of the Nightgold manor shoulder to shoulder with Brogan. The Harrow has her hands tucked under their opposite elbows to help keep them warm even with her gloves on. A nudge in the side of the northern bear to nod towards the hot chocolate,"Pre-mixed with whiskey, even. Shall we start there?" she suggests.
Ondine, a red-breasted sparrowhawk arrives, following Brianna.
Waldemai takes off his royal snowball fight champion scarf and hides it inside his jacket.
Marigold, a cheeky pygmy goat arrives, delivering a message to Felicia before departing.
Spying a familiar face, Quintin throws up his free hand to wave in Peri's direction. Peri and the very loud Selikis and company. He takes a moment to approach Acantha and offers her a slight bow at the waist. "Everything looks great. Thank you for having us, my lady."
One of the children eye Waldemai.
Waldemai whistles innocently.
Thea has joined the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
Danvir grabs a hot choclate starts sipping at and looks down smiles and gets a second before going over to finda seat and sit back to watch the kids playing and running about.
"For Hearty Stock, you still seem awful cold, woman." The Man-Bear teases Felicia without bothering to hide his snickering. Brogan is in his casual charging bear gear, complete with cloak. "But, your idea holds merit, regardless Dame Harrow." He starts steering them in that direction then. "Your hands are cold already?" He makes a show of heaving a sad sigh and shaking his head in resignation. His grin splits his beard, and he turns gaze from her to flick over the crowd for familiar faces.
Rukhnis looks askance at Peri and her bouncing, then casts a faintly dubious look around at the indicated and named persons. "Lord Kaldur, Lord Morgan, Lord Michael. I greet you," she addresses them formally. "It is an honour to make your acquaintance." She offers another bow, then peers over at Peri. "Would you like me to fetch you a drink, Lady Peri?"
Peri is very excited that her cousin is newly in town and starts introducing him to everyone she knows. One problem is that she does not know everyone. She watches the crowd. "Uh, no! I'm fine," She answers Rukhnis. "I'm going over..." Peri nods in the direction of Lady Acantha. Peri walks up to the lady and thanks her for the festival. "And here is Morgan, my cousin newly arrived from Pearlspire. I'm introducing him."
Waldemai has joined the line.
Thea is really glad there's booze in this hot chocolate. Hot and alcohol all in one drink. She sips her drink, now taking in the family reunion and kids...with a beaver.
Quintin has joined the line.
Waldemai is always up for a game, plus if he's playing with the adults he might be able to avoid being snowballed back to the Stone Age. "I'll have a try, my lady," he says.
Kaldur has joined the line.
"Clearly, your eyes are failing." Felicia huffs with a small toss of her head and tromps towards the hot chocolate table to grab a couple adulterated with whiskey. There's a slight stiffness to her back and a challenging look towards Brogan, denying the accusation pridefully.
Felicia has joined the line.
Acantha checked charm + leadership at difficulty 15, rolling 48 higher.
Brianna has joined the line.
Michael laughs at Rukhnis's approach, standing and reaching forward to grasp at his hand and shake it. Because thats what Crownlanders do. "Lady Peri, bring back hot chocolate before I become made entirely of frost!" He'll slide sideways to grin towards Thea. "Good. I'm glad you're here. I'm surrounded by Selikis."
Brianna slips in at some point, quietly helping herself to some drinks and snacks.
Danvir has joined the a heavy wooden log.
Acantha gives a smile when she sees Danvir, "Lord Ravenseye." she waves to him. Then she gets smacked with a snowball by a little boy and she has to wipe snow from her skirt with a laugh, "Alright, finish your snowmen or no sweets." she warns them with a bit of a grin. She really wouldn't deny children the sweets.
"If I can have everyone's attention, we're going to have a game for people to participage in. A few of the others we've already done. There's a prize for the top three people." she announces. "It's a snow race, sometimes our athleticism isn't the best in the snow and we have to adapt, we're going to see who does that the best." she smiles as she looks over the gathered.
Brianna has joined the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
"Huh. No. Those work very well indeed." Brogan rolls them as a demonstration of fact. He plucks one of the mugs from her and manages to not simply drain it in one go. He continues to follow along after her. "You are clearly cold. I think you're... yes. You're shivering!" It is not -quite- an accusation.
Brogan has joined the line.
Danvir sips at his choclate content to just observe everyone when Lady Acantha says his name he stands bows to her with a twinkle in his eye. When she is smacked with a snowball he grins and looks around for the child who threw it and when he finds him gives him a big smile and encourages him to pelt the lady some more
Quintin considers this competition, nods, and drains his mug of hot chocolate. Thus fortified, he makes his way over toward where the snow race will begin. He thinks, anyway.
Thea amusedly smirks at Michael,"Well now we both are...,"sipping her hot chocolate. She says maybe jokingly,"I should bring something for my ears for future run ins with them. "
Peri heard Michael's request even though he didn't project it in a proper bellow. She starts piling on mugs but before she can carry four at once Eina is there taking a couple. Peri returns to her group and hands a hot spiked chocolate to Michael and offers the other mugs to people. "I was getting up to get some already," she explains to Rukhnis. "And I wanted to thank our host. Are you going to run in the snow?"
Felicia doesn't follow suit, she drains her mug and shoves it Brogan's way,"As I said, blind." she insists hoarsely,"Come on and I'll show you..." she nods in the direction of those lining up to race,"Unless you're afraid of being beaten again." the smirk crosses her lips briefly, and it's definitely for amusement that she claps her hands together and not at all to try and get some warmth into her finger tips as she makes her way towards the line.
Kaldur joins the milling throng of folk up for festivities. He wrinkles his nose at Thea and Michael, "EH! What was that?!" He cups a hand to his ear. He sees a child circling and ducks behind Felicia when the projectile comes zinging his way.
"We'll be starting right here where are lovely children have been building their snowmen. Just try not to knock them over at the end of this race." she grins. "The course is marked by stones. Just have to keep up your stamina." she grins. "We'll give everyone a few more moments and then we'll start." she announces.
Rukhnis grimaces at the abrupt handshaking from Michael, and only with what looks like supreme exertion of will does her reflexive arm-flinching not quite get to the point of actually jerking her hand away from him. Once she reclaims her hand again, she folds both arms over her chest and beneath her cloak -- possibly to avoid any similar incidents, or maybe just because it is cold after all. As the race is announced, she frowns still more dubiously than before, and answers Peri, "No, I do not believe so."
Michael's hand thumps against Thea's back and he starts to walk off towards the race. "Come along, Lady Thea. We'll see if there is a different physical competition that you might defeat me at." Peri gets looked at, and the mug. "Hold onto that! I'll be back!"
Waldemai is careful to keep someone else between himself and the snowman building kids as he heads over to the starting line.
Quintin steals a sidelong glance at Felicia, tilting his head with a thoughtful expression. Then he's turning his attention back to the course in question. He takes a moment to stoop and check the fastenings of his boots, tightening one for peak snowbound athleticism.
Brianna glances over to Michael. "You think you stand a chance against me in this race?" she asks him.
PFAF! Felicia's too busy taunting Brogan to realize there's a snowball headed her way until she takes it full in the face with a startled 'ERP' and look of indignant outrage. Scooping it from her face she scans until she spots the child and gestures at her eyes, then at them as they scurry away, the redhead huffing as she joins the others in the line and trying to shake the snow from her shirt.
"Are we all ready? Alright....GO!" Acantha starts as she steps back from the starting line. She wasn't getting caught up in the kicked up snow in that dress!
Felicia has rolled a critical success!
Felicia checked strength + athletics at difficulty 20, rolling 57 higher.
Waldemai checked strength + athletics at difficulty 20, rolling 22 higher.
Quintin checked strength + athletics at difficulty 20, rolling 8 higher.
Thea assures Michael with a proud roll of her shoulders,"We will have to see that another day, for now I like my warmth.."
Michael checked strength + athletics at difficulty 20, rolling 27 higher.
"Factual. The word is factual." Is the grunting reply from Brogan. Sighing as he is relegated to cup holder, he finishes off his own and passes the empties off to some other poor soul. He stalks along easily after Felicia. When she is used as a human shield, he snorts in amusement. "Careful you'll make her colder!" Then the snowball hits and he is rumbling laughter. For the other children and their projectiles, he adopts his best Bear-man grin and raised paws pose and gives an amuzed growl, likely startling some, amusing others, and making himself a snowball target for the rest.
Brianna checked strength + athletics at difficulty 20, rolling 14 higher.
Brogan checked strength + athletics at difficulty 20, rolling 5 higher.
Kaldur checked strength + athletics at difficulty 20, rolling 12 higher.
Thea michael=I had to meet family! my kid is 12!
"I probalbly won't win." Michael is scoffing directly towards Brianna as he settles in at the start line. "But I'll definitely beat you. Just TRY and keep up."
Kaldur doesn't really grok that the race has started. He's looking at his boots after watching Quintin fiddling with his own. He scowls at Peri and then back to his boots. And then at- OH! THE RACE!
Kaldur shouts from nearby, "For Pearlspire!"
Merek watches as people race. He does wave to Rukh, but doesn't seem to bother her, or anyone at the moment. He looks to be writing in his book he keeps with him while he does also.
Peri shouts from nearby, "Go Kaldur!"
Felicia mutters under her breath, mostly at Brogan, tugging at the legs of her leather breeches and dusting her hands against one another. She's just waiting for the signal, and if the indignity gave her something to prove it's probably obvious with the way she bounds across the snow like she was born to it.
Brianna doesn't start out as fast as some, but she's holding her own in the middle of the pack. The Northern lady moves through the snow with practiced ease, strong and steady.
3 Tyde Houseguard arrives, following Lethe.
Michael goes as soon as the Mistress of Ceremonies calls out the start...maybe it would have been best if he wasn't wearing heavy armor. But he is TRYING still! Felicia is instantly too far ahead, but Brianna trails and thats what matters.
Mack, a sable Northern Shepherd, Bruno, an energetic Wolfhound, 4 House Crovane Guards arrive, following Fianna.
Waldemai lumbers through the snow, not fast per se, but inexorable
Quintin launches himself into the snow, his feet crunching in it, slogging along with determination. His hood falls back from his head, revealing white-blonde Ashford hair. He's near the back of the pack that's racing, but he's still in it!
Morgan shouts loudly from nearby, "For Pearlspiiiiiiire!"
Danvir watches the racers as he sips his hot choclate and frowns down at the empty mug in his hand then realizes he got two so switches hands.
Michael checked strength + athletics at difficulty 40, rolling 4 higher.
Kaldur checked strength + athletics at difficulty 40, rolling 6 higher.
Waldemai checked strength + athletics at difficulty 40, rolling 4 higher.
Felicia checked strength + athletics at difficulty 40, rolling 1 lower.
"Clearly the cold has given you motivation!" Brogan is known to prefer to live in the mountains, he has no need to adjust his gear. Which may be why he starts off so slow.
Brogan checked strength + athletics at difficulty 40, rolling 2 lower.
Quintin checked strength + athletics at difficulty 40, rolling 8 lower.
Brianna checked strength + athletics at difficulty 40, rolling 10 lower.
Kaldur has rolled 1 4-sided dice: 3
Lethe has joined the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
Kaldur got a slow start, but churns through the snow, maybe it was because he was thinking about his boots or maybe just watching Quintin - Quintin! The man goes down in front of him and the Seliki knight reaches to steady him before he goes careening into the snow.
Waldemai finds that the middle of the course is MUCH more slippery than the start. "Whoa...oh, whoa..." he says, sliding around, flailing his arms for balance. Somehow he manages to keep going.
Fianna Crovane arrives and can see right away that there's a race of some sort happening. She's dressed, per usual, in her outdoor riding gear with a long sleeved top and fitted trous tucked into tall winter boots. Her coat is adjusted as she pauses to watch the race, her long mahogany brown hair down and cascading to her mid back. "Oh, how fun." she says to herself with a grin and then goes to find a good spot to watch the competition.
Quintin doesn't get all that much farther before he flounders. Bad step on his right leg; he wobbles and then FWOOOMP! stumbles over his own feet. Kaldur's there to catch him, and the Ashford makes a surprised noise. It's undignified. "Hey, thanks, buddy!" he says, flashing the man a grin.
One of the problems with running in the snow is that sometimes, there's stuff under the snow. Brianna's foot catches on a root and she goes flying!
Nobody said anything about ice! Michael's heavy boots were slowing him down anyways, so when he starts slipping through this bit of ice, or THAT bit of ice under the snow...he is just too heavy to topple over. He keeps his footing and keeps running, laughing uproariously at Brianna's tumble.
Felicia is doing fantastic! Part redheaded elk bounding through the snow as gracefully as... as... well. Whatever she was as graceful as it's no match for a well aimed snowball and an ill-timed lifting of the boot. Was it the same child? Perhaps. She's so busy trying to maintain her balance that she doesn't even see it until she's got a faceful of icy snow. She misjudges how high to raise her leg for the next snowbank and it's all over but the snow angels as she lands face-first and accidentally attempts to mimic a scorpion with the way her legs try to keep going.
Peri is overheard praising Kaldur: My brother, dancer on the frozen waves. Kind and helpful knight.
Kaldur's heroics to keep Quintin from going face first in the snow are a reason to get loud. Morgan bellows at the top of his lungs, "You're doing us proud, cousin! Go Kaldur!" The hearty hollering is accompanied with foot stomping, enthusiasm boundless.
Kaldur has rolled a critical success!
Kaldur checked strength + athletics at difficulty 60, rolling 39 higher.
Michael has rolled a critical success!
Michael checked strength + athletics at difficulty 60, rolling 6 higher.
Morgan is overheard praising Kaldur: Heroic cousin!
Danvir watches those floundering through the snow and moves over near Acantha putting down his empty mugs as he goes and getting a fresh one
Waldemai checked strength + athletics at difficulty 60, rolling 22 lower.
"They look really cold." Acantha murmurs as she looks to Benny. "Thankfully we'll have warm stuff for them." she grins to that.
Quintin immediately stumbles forward and pitches into the snow. Whoops. Maybe he wasn't so steady, there. He laughs, lying on his side in the snow. "Save yourself, friend!" he calls to Kaldur's back as the man dashes off.
Acantha shouts from nearby, "You all are doing great!"
Quintin checked strength + athletics at difficulty 60, rolling 6 lower.
Bear's are not graceful, they are lumbering large beasts, like Brogan. He did make a visible effort to catch up, and as soon as Felicia goes down he lets out a large guffaw. "Ha H-" WHUMP! Instead of laughing at Felicia he should have been watching where he was going. Instead he trips over, and then lands upon Felicia. With an effort to suck in breath knocked out he manages to get out. "Now you are cold for sure, I'm rather comfortable now though." He gives a good hearted fist shake at those who are able to keep going.
Waldemai still windmills, still "Whoa.."s but it's just not enough anymore. Aieeee! Flump!
Quintin goes down and Kaldur half turns to grab him again, narrowly missing Michael surging by. He ducks a snowball and looks back to Quintin who urges him on. He bellows, "I'll never forget you! Ehm... what's your name?!" He laughs, turning, near slipping and sliding into and leaping over Felicia and Brogan, richocheting off of Waldemai and on...!
Rukhnis has left the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
Brianna hauls herself up and walks over to the roasting fire to warm up and dry off. She soundly ignores Michael.
Michael is surprisingly graceful, even in diamondplate and rubicund. Felicia falls away and so does Brogan. Ah well! Kaldur makes Michael have to dip and dodge around him. "Watch it, Kaldur!" It is almost enough to make him tumble, but just not quite. Down past more fallen folks and he is making the turn towards the finish line.
Felicia barely has the chance to raise her head before she's smooshed by a Brogan and lets out a muffled 'OOF!' and savagely elbows him in the chest,"I can't breathe!" she insists at him in a hoarse gasp,"Get off!" she adds for emphasis, wiggling about and probably making things worse rather than better.
The races end by the snowman and there's a bit of a laugh from Acantha, "Good job to Lord Kaldur and Lord Michael!" she claps at that. "Now if you both would like to come and get your prize, it's not a terrible lot, but, it's something." she grins at that. "Also, thank you to everyone who participated." she applauds them.
Quintin applauds from his seat in the snow, though he then makes a face and starts undoing his gauntlet. Yeah, there's snow in there. He shakes it out.
Peri is overheard praising Acantha: For such a creative and fun festivalg ame
Waldemai sits up in the to applaud the victors. "Well run, a good clean race!"
Peri is overheard praising Kaldur: The best brother
Peri is overheard praising Michael: Not bad
"Haaaa!" Is heard from Brogan at the others that fail to make their run. He even points and laughs good naturedly. Karma catches up to him in the form of a flailing Felicia which dumps him back down and into the snow. He has enough grace to roll off her, still laughing. He's even curling up to his stomach from the belly laugh of the slip sliding race event.
Felicia is overheard praising Michael.
Felicia is overheard praising Kaldur.
Kaldur is overheard praising Quintin: Good boots!
Fianna is rather used to the cold and doesn't seem to be miserable while standing and watching the race. When it concludes, she claps for the winners and grins while doing so. "Well done!" Her gloved hands are then slipped into her coat pockets, but not before she waves to Kaldur off in the distance.
Kaldur is overheard praising Acantha: Fun race!
Peri is overheard praising Quintin: Noble sacrifICE
Danvir sips at the choclate and congratulates the victors then leans down and starts whispering in kids ears pointing at Acantha and encouraging a whole group to pelt her with snow balls
Danvir is overheard praising Acantha: great event
Kaldur crashes over the finish line angling to tackle Michael even as they both win. It's a dive regardless and news of his victory reaches him from the snowbank he's plowed into. A gauntleted hand appears: thumbs up. The bank collapses as he - turtle-like - tries tow wrest free and back to his feet.
Felicia scoops up a handful of snow to toss at Brogan as she finally can at least wriggle up onto her backside, scanning the field of fallen even as she starts clapping for the winners,"All your fault." she insists at him with a sniff and a shiver.
MICHAEL IS GOTTEN! He was too busy slowing to cheer as suddenly the BestBoyHairdoMan thumps into his back and they tumble forward a few steps, almost staying up. Except they don't. And a snowbank cushions their inevitable downfall. PWOOSH! Snow up in the air.
From the snowbank, a bellow:
Kaldur shouts from nearby, "Climb High!"
Kaldur's hair is grabbed. Kaldur's face is planted deeper into the snowbank.
Peri shouts from nearby, "Dive Deep!"
Michael shouts from nearby, "WE WIN GLORY"
Morgan shouts loudly from nearby, "Climb High, Dive Deep!"
Acantha gives a smile to Kaldur and to Michael and hands them each a leather bag that's filled with coins. "Figure silver is a nice rewards." she tells them. When Michael gets up that is. "I guess he wanted to have more snow fun." she muses.
"Also we had an auction on a few items, we raised seventy thousand silver to donate between the Templars and the Spirit Walkers." she tells everyone.
Quintin starts to haul himself up out of the snow, trudging back to the cleared area so he can pat himself down and brush off the majority of it with a grin.
Waldemai applauds the fundraising efforts as best he can with a glass of whiskey in one hand.
Morgan bellows at the top of his lungs, stomping his feet and clapping wildly for Kaldur. Because his cousin is a winner, of course, and what better way to celebrate than as loudly as possible?
This is just like that time that merchant prince brat shoved her little brother! Peri grabs up some snow and packs. She launches it at Michael.
Michael checked dexterity + dodge at difficulty 15, rolling 24 higher.
Laughing, Brogan rises as he ruffles his beard to get snow out of it. He does applaud the winners, and cheers briefly when the Spirit Walkers donation is mentioned. He glances over at Felicia once more. "You. Are. Cold." With that he advances in a rearward direction because whiskified hot chocolate is to be obtained.
Peri checked command + propaganda at difficulty 15, rolling 23 higher.
Kaldur can feel the stirring of big sister rage and scrambles clear, no wish to be anywhere near Michael for the storm he's unleashed. He manages to get upright, raking crooked fingers through his hair, cheeks flushed, eyes bright. The sack of silver is a surprise. "Oh! Thank you. Ehm." He looks at the silver then leans to Acantha.
"I missed an auction?" Felicia enquires belatedly, largely of Brogan given the volume, and huffing when he starts retreating towards the whiskey bar. There's a definite shiver as she scrabbles to her feet and does a little shimmy to try and shake some of the snow out of... everywhere and stomp after the bear-man towards the promise of alcoholic warmth. She insists as she does,"I wasn't until you shoved my face in a snowbank." with all the accusation she can muster.
Peri stands up on the log. She shouts out to the children around her. "Are you going to stand for bullies who tackle little brothers! To me!" Peri recruits the children around her to throw snowballs at Michael.
Peri checked strength + athletics at difficulty 15, rolling 33 higher.
Quintin finds himself some hot chocolate WITH whiskey this time and watches Peri incite the children. He curls his hands around his mug with a smile and looks for a place to sit.
Laughing, Peri launches herself off the stump and leads a charge at the Bisland sword.
Quintin has joined the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
From her spot by the fire, warm drink in hand, Brianna cheers Peri on. "DESTROY HIM!"
Kaldur flashes a grin at Acantha and stoops to gather a handful of snow, he's not missing this charge. Peri surges forward and Kaldur cocks his arm, tracking, tracking... throwing!
Kaldur checked dexterity + athletics at difficulty 50, rolling 1 lower.
Fianna could really use some of that hot chocolate with whiskey, let's be honest. She glances around and makes sure she is well out of range of the snowball fight before going in search of something warm to drink.
"Yes." Brogan nods in answer. He does not elaborate, but as he retre- withdraws back towards the alcohol infused chocolate source his beard splits once again into a very unrepentant grin. "That will teach you to lie. Lie down. And to not trip people." He ticks all three points off on his fingers as he goes. He does keep an eye on the family snowball war though out of amusement, as well as precaution.
Mack, a sable Northern Shepherd, Bruno, an energetic Wolfhound, 4 House Crovane Guards leave, following Fianna.
Michael is quite willing to let Kaldur up now. Even if he has to angle away from a thrown snowball from his overprotective big sister. "The man can fight his own battles!" He'll step up with Kaldur and bow towards Acantha. "Why thank you, Mistress of Ceremonies, Jewel of the North, Lady Acantha Clearlake." Then snow pummels at all three of them, probably.
"Aww, thank you, Lord Bisland." Acantha dips her head to him. She gives Kaldur a smile at his whisper, "Thank you, Lord Kaldur, I'll donate it for you." she states. Benny whacks one of the snowballs with his tail. Best. Game. Ever.
Thea somehow misses snowballs and things. Drinking her hot chocolate. Ahem. Yep. Been here the whole time.
Felicia snorts at Brogan,"I didn't trip anyone. I was leading!" she points out. She reaches to snag her own whiskey-with-hot-chocolate and gives another shiver,"Well, I have to replace my cloak, you know. It's made out of badger fur... and I can only be grateful I wasn't wearing it when I met Inquisitor Thomas. But, well, I think I'd better get something different. Like... uh... wolf, or something, bear maybe." she eyes Brogan briefly.
Kaldur grins at Michael, "The sea doesn't come with just one wave, Lord Michael." He backs away, hands spread, and heads for the roasting pit. The fire, actually. That was cold! He settles on the log, looking between his cousin and Brianna, "And the bellowing," he adds. He spots Fianna leaving and mutters to himself. The fire and roasting stuff will have to wait. "Duchess Crovane! Duchess!" He hurries off after her.
Peri yells out battle suggestions to the children. "Flank him! No not him! Him! Yes! Definitely not her!" She lobs some snowballs at Michael until finally she walks over to give her brother a congratulatory hug and Michael a congratulatory pat. With a snowball down the back of his armor.
Kaldur has left the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
Acantha is overheard praising Kaldur: For the donation!
Acantha is overheard praising Michael.
Danvir finishes his hot choclate staying out of the crowd and out of the way
Michael was good about dodging this and that, in the way of Snowballs.....Peri is given a suspicious look until his suspicions are confirmed and there is snowball down his back. He swats Peri's stomach before stepping back towards the roasting spit and cauldrons.
Peri checked dexterity + dodge at difficulty 15, rolling 7 higher.
Marigold, a cheeky pygmy goat arrives, delivering a message to Felicia before departing.
Quintin has left the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
"You are not getting my cloak, but I suppose I could go hunt you down one. Or help you hunt." Ad ubious look to Felicia as he suggests this. "But with the way you get cold you couldn't possibly survive the mountains." He gives a very serious sage nod, though he also stays out of arms reach in the process.
Acantha heads over to where Danvir is sitting and gives him a smile, "You seem to be dodging the snowballs really well." she tells him with a smile. "Are you enjoying yourself?" she asks him.
Lethe has left the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
3 Tyde Houseguard leaves, following Lethe.
Felicia rolls her eyes hard even as a goat arrives to give her another message,"I'll have you know I've been to the mountains. In winter. I went with Lord Halfshav and some of the Crimson Blades to check on the Halfshav's lands. That's where I got the fang scar." she points out to Brogan,"So, you'd be wrong." she insists with an indignant sniff before working on the chocowhiskey.
Peri dances back in an attempt to avoid the swat. She returns to the roasting spit and cauldron and indicates the hot mug she set down for Lord Michael earlier. "It's in a tea cosy," She poitns to it under scarf. "So it should still be hot."
Danvir grins at Acantha and says "the key is to bribe the kids with Candy it is amazing how bad their becomes when they know they will get more candy if the nice man stays unhit" he sips from the choclate and then continues "I am very much enjoying it you put on a wonderful party lady"
"So you claim. Your body says otherwise, Miss Shiver." Clearly the Nightgold Lord is far too amused by this. He swirls his own mug and manages to not gulp it down, and simply sip at it. "Still. You're not exactly the quiet type, you realize. For hunting purposes, I mean."
"Oh you bribed them with sweets. I did, but they didn't seem to care." Acantha muses at that. Then she settles down on the bench with him to have a quiet conversation.
Acantha has joined the a heavy wooden log.
Faustus, the feisty, fluffy, three legged kitten arrives, delivering a message to Michael before departing.
Felicia grunts,"We'll see if you shiver when I shove snow down your shirt." she threatens Brogan, then shrugs,"You want to go hunt me down a suitable pelt, I'm not going to stop you. I was just going to go and buy one. I just keep... forgetting to. But if you want to be all gallant and such, far be it from me to stop you."
1 Grayson House Guards, Peaches, a lovely white war filly with a peach saddle, Deliverance, an albino falcon, Stormy, a silvery gray hunting hound, Rascal, a hyper terrier, Rosalie, a lady in waiting arrive, following Reese.
Danvir leans in close to Acantha talking quietly with her while sitting on the bench log
Reese arrives at the gathering while adorned in her pink tunic and ivory leggings. She peeks over the area and has a warm smile for Danvir that reaches her blue eyes.
Peri offers Michael the scarf, "Here, Lord Michael, for your back." She makes to sop up the snow. She overhears her cousin say something and turns to greet Briana.
Michael grins towards Peri as he lifts his mug towards her before drinking deep from it to warm himself after that run. "Nooo, keep your scarf, I have delicious and hot chocolate to warm me. And the fire. And watching your cousin here be oblivious."
"Not sure if gallant is the right word. Erm, prudent perhaps? I mean if you are sure you can handle a non-pampered existence in the woods?" Brogan seems to be consindering a potential hunting partner in Felicia while looking about the crowd and the aftermath of the great snowball war. "I'll have to think about it. Did I mention you're not exactly quiet? I mean, you snore too."
Reese peeks over to Peri, giving her a smile that is framed by her dimples. "Hi Lady Peri!" She says in he direction. She then waves over to Michael as well. Th girl continues further into the gathering and goes to find herself a mug of hot chocolate.
Thea smiles at Reese a little,"good evening, your Highness."
Danvir looks up and smiles at Reese when he sees her but stays on the bench near Acantha leaning into her and speaking
Peri hears Reese and waves. "Reese! Come meet my cousin!" Her cheeks are flushed from the cold.
"You're the one who snores, Brogan dear." Felicia points out wryly,"And you're the one who lives in a fancy gilded manor, oh Lord of Nightgold. But admittedly I lack your experience in stalking animals for entertainment." the barb cast with the flick of her green eyes and a playful smirk even as she not so coincidentally steps away a few paces.
"If that is Lord of Dance of Pearlspire, I already met him, but never got to see him dance yet." Rees says, but she happily starts in Peri's direction. Felicia is given a smile of greeting as well.
Acantha has left the a heavy wooden log.
Danvir stands when Acantha does and gives her a warm smile
"Is that Princess Reese I see! Sure enough, it is!" Yells out Morgan over at the approaching Princess, bowing when she uses his self-designated appellation. "The dance is coming, I promise. You will be impressed. Perhaps terrified. Definitely impressed." Smiling at Peri, "This is rather cold, but Kaldur's victory keeps me warm with pride."
Danvir moves over to the table and leaves his cup on the table before moving off to the side to stay out of the way and people watch
Felicia raises her mug and sketches a respectful bow in the direction of Reese, even if she doesn't dare take her eyes off of Brogan for too long. The chocowhiskey mustache totally adds something, too. At least it seems to be serving to help keep her warm.
Thea has left the a roastiing spit and a cauldron.
"What's this about dancing?" Brianna asks, a little too loudly.
Waldemai has rolled a critical success!
Waldemai checked dexterity + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 35 higher.
Reese looks over to Mordan, giving the man another smile that reaches her blue eyes. "Oh, I hope to be impressed and I would be very shocked and well very impressed if you could terrify me." The girl says.
Waldemai hears the call for dancing and shuffles through a Southport hornpipe, which, oddly, he does pretty well. "Whew," he says. "Now I need more whiskey."
Reese loks over to Waldemai and she seems very impressed. "Oh, wow." The girl softly says.
Reese is overheard praising Waldemai: Great dancing!
Acantha shouts from nearby, "And stay out, Lord Arik!"
"No. My temporary residence while in this city is the Manor. Oh how I hate it, I've climbed into the grove to nap a few times." He too looks towards Reese and gives her a bearded-grin, then a quick bow as if just remembering one should do this. A snort of amusement at what he hears brings him back to Felicia. "Stalking for entertainment? No no. For my food. Oh all right sometimes for the sheer thrill of it."
