Lord Corbit Leary
Some men seek power, some seek gold. Me? I seek understanding.
Description: Corbit is tall and thin, though there is a wiry strength about him and sureness to his movements. His long, clever fingers almost always have ink stains, sometimes, one might even find a smudge or something similar on his nose or chin. Inqusitive, grey eyes stare out from a moderately handsome face with a strong jawline. His head is topped with a mop of unruly dark brown hair that gives him an absnet minded, boyish air. He's pale, but not the kind of pale that speaks of ill health, it more looks like he spends a lot of time inside and doesn't have the closest relationship with the sun.
Personality: Corbit is almost unfailingly kind, polite and insightful. That is, when he takes the time to think about being any of these things. Truth is, his mind is usually in several different places at once, at times he is rude, too blunt or even can seem uncaring. But it's rarely because he means to be, he just has bigger things to think about. He is normally fairly reserved and quiet with a quick, wry sense of humor that shows up now and again. His quietness and reservation simply fade away once he begins talking about one of his many and varied interests that he can talk about, excitedly and passionately for extended periods of time. Show a bit of interest and you may be subjecting yourself to a long, though interesting lecture on anything from the economic history of the Thrax to the singing patterns of local, migratory birds. At the very core of his character is simply an unbridled enthusastic curiosity about all things around him. Which he pursues with great fervor, sometimes, to the exclusion of everything else.
Background: Corbit was essentially born curious and had the perfect family to help feed that curiosity. His best childhood memories are debates at the dinner table over some minor point of a random piece of information. Between all these ideas whirling around him and having a mind like a sponge, he couldn't help but become a bit of a jack of all trades when it comes to scholarly persuits. So one day what he's working on might be totally different than what he's working on the next. So what if he may have accidently turned his hair green trying to come up with a cure for baldness? Worth it. Or about that time he burned down a shed trying to make it fireproof, small price to pay in his eyes. He's always been encouraged in these pursuits and has always taken great advantage of that.
