Tenebrae

Description: Tall, lean and athletic, Tenebrae is made for fighting rather than lounging on divans. Pale skinned and blonde like many from the cold north, her clear blue eyes are ever alert and her body tensed for action. Pretty enough in a savage way, she is usually found in leather cuirass and leggings rather than a dress - she may not even own a dress.
Personality: Tenebrae Staldotter is not the kind of woman you invite to parties - unless you want some heads knocked together. She takes her oaths very seriously and that is reflected in a taciturn manner and a steely resolve in all she undertakes. Tenebrae is not one for intrigues or philosophical discussions though she is not ignorant of their effects on her role. Manners and social mores are also not to her taste so she can seem rough and rude to most - even when staying quiet.
Background: Tenebrae was born into a group of Abandoned freebooters from the north who long held a desire to return to Prodigal status. From birth she was expected to contribute and survive - not a lot of mollycoddling in her life. When she was eight the prospects for their leader, Trogen, improved when he married a captive from Pravus - Sudara.
Tenebrae's mother was appointed Sudara's pesonal bodyguard so she soon grew accustomed to 'civilized' ways - though none of it really rubbed off on her. She is a warrior first and foremost and that was never allowed to be affected by soft Lycene ways. When Tenebrae's mother died, she took on the mantle of Sudara's bodyguard - swearing oaths to protect her no matter where, when or why. And oaths are very important to Tenebrae and her people. They are not give lightly but followed to the end.
Even with this new closer connection to her mistress, Tenebrae has failed to become /too/ polished. She is still considered a savage by most Lycenes and is quite proud of that. The death of Trogen convinced her that 'civilization' was not to be trusted but her oaths that bond her to Sudara were not broken by the event. They are never broken. So she has travelled to Arx to continue her role as bodyguard and hopefully stop trouble rather than start it.
Name | Summary |
Celeste | When I was first told of Tenebrae, I was informed of a woman that was abrasive and still adjusting to 'genteel' society. I've found her, in person, to be a practical, attentive student and a wise leader of her people. She knows what the reality of a thing is and doesn't delude herself into anything else. We could use more people with views like hers. |
Duarte | A fish out of water, but giving it an effort. An effort she'd rather not give, perhaps, but an effort all the same. She had a secret sense of humor which I found charming. |
Jyri | Guarding Lady Sudara, which is good in my book. Impressive looking woman - I bet she'd give me a hard time in a spar. |
Sudara | Trusted from the first: my Shield, my Voice, my truest friend. |
Willow | Doesn't dance and thinks decent sized tankards only appear where civilization ends. She isn't rude but not a fan. |
