Trystan Rancourt

A song or a poem can reach into the very soul of someone who is listening and lightly caress their heart to provide joy, or grip their heart and squeeze and give sorrow and heartache. It is up to us to determine how best to use our talents.

Description: Trystan is a handsoe man, with piercing blue eyes and long blond hair that goes down to his shoulders. His face is cleanly shaven and free of any scars or distinguishing features, save a cleft chin and his nose. A nose which has clearly been broken before but it does little to diminish his appearance, rather makes him more ruggedly handsome. He's tall and lean, moving with confidence and grace few of his peers seem to possess.

Personality: Trystan is a man full of charm and humor. It seems rare to see him with anything but a smile on his face. He seems at ease in the company of both commoner and nobility alike, always pleased to be able to perform either a song or recite some poetry. A private person, he rarely shares any real details of his own life, preferring to tell tales of exotic places he's been.

Background: Trystan was born to a small merchant family in Southport. His father was successful enough in his work, but he had two more sons than he really needed and one was sent off to the clergy and Trystan? Well, as the youngest Trystan tended to get doted on by his mother. A woman who loved to tell him stories and sing to him. Either much of that rubbed off on him, or he just ended up taking more after his mother than his father, but with his talent at singing and remembering stories, his father was able to get him an apprenticeship with an acting company. It did not last very long.

After a year on the road, the company ran into some financial problems, and players began to go to other companies. One man, a musician who also wrote some of the scripts took Trystan under his wing and the pair travelled together. Food and shelter was never much of a problem. Tell some tales, sing a few songs and entertain the guests and many Innkeepers would let them bed down for free and keep any coin they earned. It was a nice enough life until the ship they were on to Setarco sank. Now a sixteen year old with little in his name and in a city he'd never been to before, Trystan did what he knew how to do. He sang. He told tales. He made money.

He travelled around Arvum. Month after month, year after year, spending most of his time in his native Lyceum, but also going to other cities to play, to learn new tales and new songs, and to continue to hone his craft. He's finally made his way to Arx now that all the big names in the land have come. He hopes to make his mark and earn his fortune here and maybe be able to retire.
