Lia
You can laugh in any situation, even if sometimes it's painfully awkward and socially unacceptable.
Description: Of average height, this woman possesses an unruly mane of black waves that is usually pulled back into a tight tail to keep it under the strictest control. She has wide, dark brown eyes, a rather thin mouth, and somewhat pronounced, angular cheekbones. She is built for labor rather than beauty, and so her form tends toward more lean muscle and nothing particular in the way of curves.
Personality: It may be a somewhat trite metaphor, but it is entirely apropros to picture Lia as a babbling brook. A seemingly boundless font of both optimism and enthusiasm, she has been accused often of being an unequivocal idealist and rather exhausting to boot. She smiles and damns ill luck for naught, whether or not it may tempt fate, and tends to utilize laughter as the proverbial blunt tool for all occasions. Much like her actual, tangible tools, she is adaptable for all situations provided an endless, awkward stream of consciousness is considered suitable. This so-called pleasant facade is as unrelenting - and nearly as insurmountable - as a stone buttress, meant to dash the hopes of those who attempt to breach it to find the soft, fleshy bits underneath.
Background: The life of a lowly village commoner in Saikland Greens is neither idyllic nor particularly fraught with peril. It mostly consists of work and more work from the day you walk until the day you die. Such was Lia's initial fate upon her birth into a family of incredibly limited means with more mouths to feed than food to stick into them. As child number three of seven (two older sisters, three younger brothers, one younger sister) born to a seamstress (of weak talent) and leatherworker (of moderate talent), it was expected from a young age that Lia would assist in tending to her siblings while also helping her mother take care of their incredibly modest home.
This Lia did with all the alacrity one would expect from a spoiled nobleborn moreso than a poor waif. In between her rounds as homemaker and babysitter, she would also assist her father with his work. Here she demonstrated her knack with her hands, and her quick wit made her an able unpaid apprentice. While her older sisters were busy finding husbands and moving away to start their own families, Lia was elbow-deep in scraps and sweat working hard to perfect what would be her future trade.
Lia made it all the way to the ripe age of fourteen before her father managed to use his meager guild connections to secure her an apprenticeship - an adventure that would take her all the way to Arx. It was a turbulent time for the gawky teenager to travel so far from home, but her father had cobbled together a veritable fortune in order to give her the means for a future. So she said her teary-eyed goodbyes to her siblings and her parents and made her way (chaperoned!) to Arx by boat.
Ten years of hard, but fair, work followed before Lia's master retired from the business and left her to establish herself as an independent crafter.
