Lawyer

Acting as an advocate is a more important profession than most commoners in Arvum would assume, seeing as how lords rule by fiat, with extremely little interest shown by most high lords in overriding the decisions made by the vassal lords beneath them. However inside the city of Arx, where all are ostensibly under the authority of the crown, many noble families have at least one member or two take an interest in law- too often disputes happen between social peers and must be settled by arguing a case before a social superior acting as a judge, and the repercussions of a poorly argued case can ruin a family's ambitions. The vast majority of lawyers are tied to a noble family, but a few commoners of learning with a gift for eloquent argument can make their mark as lawyers.
