It's a very clear night here in the city. The stars are very present here, and I don't wonder how the view might be from the bridge at Stonehearth, over the river, might be on a calm night like tonight.

Many below me look up and ask, what shall the decision be?

All I can do is remind them that they must look higher than I for that answer.

A true proclamation and celebration shall be forthcoming, but let the archive record that Stonewood has completed a grand bridge which crosses the Gray River near Stonehearth, and that men and wagons and horses may cross from north to south and back again without waiting on the ferryman.

It's a pity to see and hear of so many marriages and other relationships going through stormy times. I feel as if such a thing is common with this sort of weather, but everyone says it's worse this year. I won't lie, I've had my share of struggles as of late, but I hod fast to the idea that she is dear to me still, after all these years, even if I'm having a bit of a gloom about myself.

Time marches ever onward, and I suppose one must prepare themselves for these sort of days, when we come to realize that a young person that we've helped teach and shape has risen to be their own person with their own pursuits. I thought I was ready, but it is harder than I thought.

Not the best time for construction, but what would the world look like if we only did things at the best times?

In a year, no one will remember the struggle, just the reward.

This is a poor season for planting or building, the ground is hard and it's miserable outside at times, not to mention the lack of sun. It is, however, a good time for planning to do those things, once spring blesses us again.

The secret is out, so there's no sense in keeping it out of the official record.

I have no mind for the names of plants, beyond the most basic, and thus those apothecaries that master the natural wonders of our world will always impress me.

Took one of the clerks with me to do some shopping. Or perhaps scouting it more the word for it. No purchases were executed, but a great deal of ink was spent making notes about what might be made mine in the future.

Relationship Note on Michael

"Steadfast as Stone" is something of a mouthful as well, my liege.

If it helps, my Rangers often shorten it to "as stone" while my sailors seem to prefer "steadfast" and as for myself, we'll I prefer to use it in writing.

I may strategize and command well, but I infinitely prefer my library to the battlefield.

I find myself, as of late, eating the same meals again and again.

We often celebrate the bounty the gods have given us, particularly those of us with the funds to enjoy whatever we like for our meals.

Yet again and again, I request the same thing from my kitchen. There must be some comfort in that, mustn't there?

Traveling is always something of an adventure, even if a minor one. With a manor in the City and the residence at Stonehearth, I've got two places I feel comfortable calling home. How the men and women who explore can feel comfortable away from such a place, I may not be qualified to understand. Give me either of my two beds and I am a happy man.

What a success our most recent projects have been. Of course, we cannot know for certain the value of this success until the fruit of these labors ripens fully, but until then repairs and construction have been completed and commoners seem eager to learn earn their share of the wealth Stonewood March has to offer.

The homeland is a bustle with activity now. With winter's end we're making good on the influx of goods and silver from the Empyrean to develop agriculture and industry in our lands. It is a good time to be sworn to Stonewood if I do say so myself.

Some time ago, I saw something in Lady Joslyn that many did not. At great damage to my own reputation, from which one might even say I've not yet recovered, I recognized this wonderful woman as a member of my house.

Since then she's continued to do great service to Stonewood and our Lieges the Bislands, having earned herself a knighting. Very recently she's earned herself third place in a tournament set by the Champion's Guild.

Let the records show that, in addition to being quite skilled at helping to manage Stonewood's finances, that she does a great honor to Gloria with her skill in a duel. We couldn't be happier to count her as family.

I had the pleasure of touring a garden that the Ashfords have added to their residence in Arx. They have a marvelous selection of plants there, and it must have been a great expense to create such a room to grow and view them in. It is a sight worth seeing.

When the Queen of Endings takes me, mark that today's letters should be published as a volume.

It should be quite entertaining to read.

Having made many a gaff in my own life, I must reflect that I am fortunate to be ultimately responsible only to myself. Of course I serve my liege faithfully, but my embarrassments should be my own.

I can't imagine every publicly challenging the King's Chief Magistrate, but if I ever do there's something to be said for the fact that the only person I'll be shaming is myself, rather than my own cousin who both I and the target of my snub serve in different capacities.

Worry not, I can assure you from great personal experience that these things always blow over, and that our merciful King in his wisdom and humor is unlikely to deal too harshly with those that publicly question his judgement.

I think, as a long time member of The Arvum Philosophical Society for the Empowerment and Enlightenment of Curious Minds, that I may have discovered the next topic of debate amongst the idle and curious of The Salon! By Vellichor we have a duty to spread knowledge, and that seems to be a popular position at the moment. Do we not also recognize Skald? Exactly how much mentoring and teaching might we do before it so overwhelms and occupies our time that we do a disservice to Skald's teachings? Certainly a person possessing a singular knowledge might do Vellichor's work by writing it down to preserve it, but how much debt do they owe to teach this knowledge in person with no compensation (to themselves or charities) for their time? How must we act when all gods are equal in our hearts, but do not amongst themselves always agree?

This gift giving day... what can I say but that Prince Aiden Grayson is a generous man?

I suppose I might also say that somehow, a small plush rabbit appeared in my pocket as I went about my day. I assume someone has taken advantage of my recent blindness on the left side to practice filling my pockets on said side.

I shall keep my coins on the right going forward.
