Templars don't lie

I was most pleased to celebrate the Feast of Alor Valardin with my brothers and sisters at Maelstrom. It gave me a chance to also see the work on the new Templar hold on the isle. I was saddened to hear that some of my brothers and sisters could not make it due to a most odd rash of accidents. Were they present they would have heard of tradition, and my love of it. Stories of our shared past, of the Faith we love and serve. And they would have received their orders to take the Templars of their parishes and to hunt for Waldo - they would know that all Templars are called up, and removed from the instruction of their seraph and instead must look to the Templar Order for their commands in all things.

Tradition is that as Carnifex, I speak with the voice of the Faith. Without reference, without hinderance. The command of the Carnifex is absolute, to preserve the Faith. From all threats. Wherever they hide. And such a heavy burden requires an honest man who stays to his word. I made my command and the cost of it clear. Those holds where the Seraphs did not raise their Templars and dispatch their commanders to Maelstrom without reason given are recalled to Arx to explain to the Dominus their decision. I will write to the Seraph of Sanctum to ask for a list of reliable Godsworn candidates to replace them which can be given to the Legates for consideration, good Orthodox priests who know what tradition is so that they might feel at home with those houses.

For those whose commanders were injured, or otherwise involved, you are thanked for your trouble in raising your levy and searching, and you take my warmest wishes for health. Many might think the reasons given were a flimsy trickery worthy only of a particularly dimwitted Lycene (should such a thing even exist), but I know that no Godsworn would ever lie to the Faith - and more than that, that no Templar would ever lie about their duty to their Grandmaster.

The deaths of the Seraphs of Dredcall and Eastcrest are most regrettable, especially the rumoured involvement of the Templars. It is clear that such things must be investigated. As Archlector of Gild, Blessed Porter oversees the Knights of Solace and knows both duty and truth. The Faith appoints him to investigate these matters and trust all will co-operate with his inquisition.

By my hand,
Sir Preston Godsworn, Carnifex of the Faith, Grandmaster of the Holy Knights of the Temple

We have admiration toward those who accepted the Carnifex's offer to dine in Maelstrom to exchange ideas with their fellow faithful, as well as the Carnifex himself. It is important to listen to those, especially within your community, with whom you have disagreements.
