Errant Northern Templars

Posted by Preston on 03/20/19
There is much happening which those senior to me in the Faith will deal with, but there are two matters of my Order I must - with a heavy heart - address. Firstly, those who have evidence or claims about Templars acting unlawfully whether they be Godsworn or disciples acting under the auspices of the Templars, I am always willing to listen to these charges and investigate. To use violence to aprehend them risks misunderstanding, for I am sure you would not want any to think you wanted to wage war on the Faith.

The more serious matter, to those members of my Order who have fallen under the sway of the misguided teachings of the Seraph of Fireside I say this: I can understand at times the North can feel isolated, and that in excitement even good people can make mistakes. But division within the Order can never be the answer, and obedience to oaths can never be set aside in the interests of comfort or the novelty of the new.

So as your Grandmaster I rule thusly: You have 13 days from receipt of this ruling to repent your mistakes, to recant your support of this misguided teaching, and begin the journey south to Arx. You will bring the Seraph of Fireside in chains to see the Dominus and explain himself, that will be the sign of your repentance. And I will embrace you as brothers and sisters, and that will be the end of the matter.

If you remain where you are, then with sorrow I will have to consider you in rebellion against, and therefore a threat to, The Faith. All options will then be explored, including invoking my rights as Grandmaster of the Templars to call a vote on the appointment of a Carnifex for the Northlands. And when we capture you, which we will, you will be lashed 13 times and you will then walk 13 steps between two lines of your brothers and sisters as they beat you so you might understand the hurt you have caused. And you will then be asked to repent. If you do not, this will continue for 13 days, each day you will be given the chance to repent and stop it. If you repent, you can face the judgement of the Faith, whatever it may be, with a clear heart and a clean soul.

Signed by my hand,

Sir Preston Godsworn
Grandmaster of the Holy Knights of the Temple
