August Plans and Staff Catchup

Posted by Apostate on 07/21/19
I've had an awful lot of players ask about whether we're doing a staff break for this summer. As a heads up, I'm tentatively aiming for starting August 1st to lock down actions and new investigations until staff finishes its backlog, and I then get enough time to design GMing systems that will let us spread out more responsibility and to possibly bring on new staff so we can get ahead of this. I just don't have time and won't have time to take steps to create sustainable solutions while actions are open at the moment, and I won't have an ETA for long it'll take.

Things probably won't seem dead as we deal with the backlog (more than likely the opposite), as with a couple hundred things to resolve a significant percentage of those will have be visible effects. But the instinctive response of people would be wanting to respond to those with actions, and that's why we aren't getting out from underneath this. So I want to create a solid framework that will move more and more storytelling ability onto players, with keeping a coherent theme with a reasonable balance of risk and reward. All I'd ask is for a lot of patience as I work through it, as I'll try to go as fast as I can, but I need to come up with sustainable solutions and I just can't if I'm forced to respond to things every night without giving me any freedom to work on things that will help.
