Redreef-Inverno Wedding

Posted by Staff on 04/15/22
As the threat of civil war looms large over the Mourning Isles, progressive agitators House Redreef forged a union with the Pravosi House Inverno, via the marriage between Countess Ember Redreef and new Count-Consort Saverio Inverno.

The ceremony was conducted in the Crimson Keep, Redreef Shores' castle, by the domain's seraph. It was described by visitors as a "surprisingly tasteful and conventional" ceremony. What attracted the most attention was the Countess's wedding gown. Crafted by Sira Illuso, the gown's style was positively avant-garde. Daring and revealing in its cut, decorated with glinting gems and mirrorsilver, the gown offered a vision of ice, layers of blue and white making the woman appear downright arctic. The blue and white silk of the gown was nearly luminescent, in a way that those who saw it up close remarked they'd never seen a tailor achieve before. Sure, Ember and Saverio got married, but Sira and her unprecedented work ended up the most talked-about in the aftermath.

At the reception held in the gardens outside Redreef Shores' Hedge Maze of the First Choice, drink flowed but -- bizarrely for a Redreef soiree -- no fights broke out. Before the dance floor opened up, Countess Ember led a brief toast, during which she seemed to be genuinely overcome by emotion, according to guests who also report how strange it is for the Crimson Countess to show any emotion at all, other than anger. Her toast, which was mostly about imminent fighting in the Isles, concluded: "War will come to us soon. We will fight. If need be, we will die. Out in Abandoned waters, words like trust, commitment, and /honor/... they are merely words. Here, they are so much more. As I fight, I will ask myself what it is I will teach my child -- my, and Count Saverio's, heir. I will ask what it is they must learn, what they must..." At this point, those who were present report that the Countess paused, voice caught, and she seemed to stifle tears. She ended the toast with "...thank you all," and downed her entire glass in a single breath.
