Sangris and Tremorus

When the leaders of the Compact learned that the Eurusi forces had split among different targets in the Saffron Chain, they made a difficult choice to concentrate their forces on holding Pieros and to trap and destroy the bulk of the Eurusi forces. This left the prodigal city-states of Sangris and Tremorus standing on their own resources against incoming land sieges from the Eurusi and their Abandoned allies.
Standing on their own, both cities held. In Sangris, under the leadership of Baroness Calla Vaevici and Lord Titus Vaevici, the city-state managed to hold a pass and held the Eurusi invaders before any damage was done to the Red City, as the city-state is called. Tremorus was less fortunate.
The city-state of Tremorus had its walls breached, and thousands were killed in bloody street fighting, with the prodigal forces pushed back to their arena that saw the Sword of Tremorus holding them there. Their palace was sacked, and much of their leadership killed, with terrible losses before finally the forces of the Compact arrived to relieve them, and cut off the invader's escape.
The Marquessa was killed, and her dying decree passed rule onto the new Marquessa Giorgio. Following the tragic losses, some of the family of new House Proscipi has moved from Tremorus, joining distant kin. One such noble, Lady Cassiopeia, has become a member of House Vaevici.
Much of the peerage may have profoundly mixed feelings about prodigal neo-noble houses joining the Compact, but they are still deeply impressed by Sangris and Tremorus holding the Eurusi until the Compact forces could come to their aid.
