Tresova

Posted by Apostate on 02/02/21
When The Black Tide sailed into port earlier this morning, sailors and dockhands noted that she was not flying the colors of House Blackshore, but a new flag entirely: a gold, eight-pointed star against solid crimson. Admiral Scylla disembarked with a host of unfamiliar visitors wearing tabards featuring the same sigil following close behind. They were seen entering the Darkwater Manse and did not emerge for several hours. At the conclusion of this mysterious visit, word begins to spread around Arx that the island of Tresova, believed by many to be an igneous, uninhabited rock of little consequence, has returned to The Compact. Historical records indicate that House Carideo, Tresova’s ruling family, split from The Compact not long after The Reckoning. All subsequent attempts to make contact with the house went unanswered, and thereafter the family and their island were lost to history.

Circulating rumors seem to suggest that Admiral Scylla, a shipwrecked nobody rescued by Lord Aedric Blackshore, is the last living heir of the ruling Carideo family. However, upon bending the knee to Countess Carita Darkwater, she elected to adopt for herself and her family the surname ‘Stormblood’ in an effort to distance herself and her people from the family’s troubled history, and not just its status as an abandoned house. It is understood by many that the denizens of Tresova have suffered these past years under the tyrannical rule of a usurper who was only recently deposed by Scylla, Lady Ophira Blackshore, Lords Romulius and Lord Cornelius Blackshore, Ethan Merari, and a handful of Carideo loyalists. The island’s infrastructure is said to be in a state of disrepair, its population is demoralized and afraid, and they are in desperate need of basic supplies to sustain them through the encroaching winter and beyond.

Traditionalists in the Mourning Isles are (naturally) displeased with this news, and suspicious of Scylla’s claim. However, having furnished a slightly vague, yet passable historical account of her family’s former affiliation with The Compact, she managed to receive tacit support for her ennoblement from House Thrax, her liege, Countess Carita Darkwater, and a number of other noble houses scattered across the six fealties.
