Prayerstones

Every year the Shrine of Jayus rises, and every year the Shrine of Jayus falls. This is the cycle of change that is embraced by the Faith. As much as the Shrine changed each year, it had always been artisans who built it. The vision of those who are craftsmen by calling or trade. At least as far back as anyone in Arx can remember. This year as the cycle came to an end, people gathered to see something different. The wall of Prayerstones.

Archlector Wylla had opened the year with a call to involve more than just craftsmen in the construction of the Shrine, to give more than just artisans a way to be involved in this homage to Jayus. A call for Prayerstones. Ordinary rocks taken and decorated by hand, prayed over, and given for the building of the Shrine. Donations first came from the artisans and the faithful in January, as they set the foundation. Then more stones came from orphanages across Arx in Febuary, thanks to the efforts of Sabella Grayson. Then more stones trickled in. Families bonded, prodigals were included, disciples reaffirmed their faith, and both common and noble born showed the allegiance of their house colors. Shaped together into a stony tapestry.

When the end of year came the steady trickle of stones had only brought the wall to a modest height, yet the myriad of colors placed together by artisans was a beautiful thing all the same. A reminder of how we can come together in our Faith, a reminder that all of us can help to create something beautiful.

And as the wall came crashing down a reminder that all things can pass.
