Action by Rysen(RIP)

In light of Victus's announcement seeking to abolish thralldom in Mourning Isles within 7 years, Rysen begins to subtly press his diplomatic contacts in Arx and the Isles for information related to which Thraxian lords or ladies would be likely to rebel. He makes visits to the Isles under the pretense of finding buyers for Crovane timber and mined minerals, and giving bardic performances to Thraxian nobles. He intends to compile a secret report for Victus and the other loyal members of the house, outlining the most likely threats, as well as the best methods for convincing, coercing, isolating or eliminating them.

Action by Rukhnis

Rukhnis will attend Rysen on his journeys through the Isles, and attempt to gain information from sources less readily available to him. She will keep an ear out for gossip in the servants' quarters that might suggest their noble families' attitudes towards the the abolition of thralldom and the possible actions of the different members of those families. She will also be present amidst the audiences in attendance at Rysen's performances, listening for any relevant comments that others of any station might let drop within the hearing of an unobtrusive servant.

Result

It's bad. There's probably 50 houses that are extremely unhappy about the changes, and at least half of that are using extremely strong language when talking about it. Helianthus is the most powerful of those, and the Duke of Helianthus has noticably left off Victus' honorics when talking about him, as if to emphasize his illegitimate nature, and that's caught on among many of the traditionalists. On the other hand, most don't seem to be in any hurry to start an open rebellion, but all it would take one act to propel them- it's a tinderbox waiting to go up.
