Rose Chereau

Description: Soft and frail, Rose is a spitting image of a maiden. Her lips are full and lush, the smooth skin of her face as white as snow. It is complimented by the flowing locks of blonde hair that runs all the way down her back, usually strung together in a braided ponytail. Almost always she wears a refitted coronet over her eyes, covering whatever blind sockets may lay beneath. It was gifted to her by a jeweler as repayment for aiding his wife through a nasty flu.
Her body is slender and fairly meek in appearance. Her arms are lanky and end in slender fingertips. Her legs are much the same, retaining a bit of fullness to them while usually being hidden beneath a flowing skirt. Usually wearing a small smile, she is fairly balanced between being considered beautiful in face and yet completely plain in the rest of her form.
Personality: As little more than a delicate flower blooming in one of the worst places nature could shine, Briar has been no stranger to the harshness of adjusting to an unfamiliar climate. For the most part impressively, she's done it with a smile on her face. The thing that shines through the most beyond a soft face is the kind and quiet atmosphere she carries with her from place to place. Never does she raise her voice and she always walks with a very guarded elegance to her gait. She always tries to take up as little space as possible and occupy it for just as shortly. She is considerate to others in all things, always taking the route that makes things the easiest for those around her.
Despite her affliction of sight, Briar is always keen on her surroundings in many other ways. She is often feeling the edges of the walls of the room she's in or listening to a hushed noise several feet away. She remains expressive enough to always show alertness to whatever is happening within her own personal space and an impressive range outside of that.
Background: Rose was born to her mother Elizabeth to live with her brother James. Born without eyesight, Rose wasn't given optimistic chances of life, but her family was a stubborn one. Living in the lower boroughs with such a crippling disability made growing into adulthood a terrifying feat. But she was never alone in that, her older brother was always there to protect her and provide when the silver flowing simply wasn't enough. One of the days that she was on the streets with her older sibling, James had gotten into one fight too many. They were taken into custody by the Iron Guard for a temporary holding, though Rose was kept away from the rest of the pack once her defection became apparent. The poor care she was in caught the attention of one of the visiting Mercies that day. Taking Rose into a charity of tutoring, she was taught how to properly feel out medicinal herbs and how to put them to good use. Soon enough, Rose was able to patch her older sibling's bruises and keep her own scuffs cleaned and healed throughout her childhood.
She constantly returned to help serve the Mercy as an attendant, though soon enough her life in the Lower Boroughs became too dependent on simply surviving the days for her to continue any extra schooling in her free time. She took what she learned and brought it to the disenfranchised who made their homes in the gutters of Arx. With her Brother providing for her and Rose always being there to care for him after a long day. She gained her own reputation among the Lower Boroughs as being a healer without charges, protecting her from most riff-raff and gangs that filtered throughout the years.
Presently, she remains a patron of the Lower Boroughs and assists the only family she's known day by day. While her services extend to any of the sick and weary, she has always placed her brother and his affairs first. Family has been what has given her the life she has without her disability throwing every obstacle in her way. That is something she dedicates her life to repaying in full.
Name | Summary |
Aislin | This healer tried to tend to us all after the battle with the corrupted Inquisitors; while she wasn't perhaps entirely up to the task, she took the tales of /how/ we'd all been injured with equanimity, which is rare enough in anyone and to be valued in a healer. |
James | My sister, my anchor, my keeper. With her I walk in darkness. |
Magpie | Magpie thought Rose was just some noble 'slumming' it down at the Murder of Crows, but after chatting with her for a bit he learned that she has her place in the Lowers, and she's sister to a friend of his as well. Over all, she seems alright, even if it's weird to not want to live somewhere nicer than the Lower Boroughs. |
Merek | %bMerek met her at the Shrine of Limerance. He was a bit surprised about a few things, but besides that, he finds her to be a nice woman all-in-all. |
