Action by Victus
War leaves behind a lot of destruction. Some of the irreparable damage is to the ones who have family to rely on who are taken from them in a moment's notice. Victus didn't grow up with a loving parent either, so in a way he feels sympathy for the ones who are left behind when their folks are taken to the Shining Lands. There's a chance he might be leaving behind his own daughter if he doesn't come back from this in one piece. Given that she's too young to remember anything about him now, he's got a personal agenda to take on before he has to leave for the Compact's fleet.
He travels to the Lower Boroughs. Not without the protection of guards and not in as silky dress as one might expect of his station. He's not going to make noise or kick up a show, he's just going as Victus Thrax, who just so happens to frequently be the High Lord of Thrax. Where he's going specifically is the Orphanage, where children of all ages are left to be cared for till adoption or adulthood. While he's not coming to adopt, he is coming to hopefully add something a little worthwhile to the everyday hustle and bustle. He's gonna try to leave a decent mark on these kids from someone who came from dirt himself and rose all the way to the tippy-tops.
One day if permitted, he'll take a kid out on the town. Show them some of the Shrines, the sights, buy them a fancy dinner and hear about their life. He'll share his own to. The next day he'll take a new child to the training center, hand them a stick and teach them a few basic needs of combative survival. Maybe a little nugget or two about honor if he can ass'd. Next day he'll take a child with some passion in their hobby somewhere they can express it. If they like water, Mangata's shrine, the beach and bay of Thrax! They wanna paint, straight to Jayus with an easel or one of the highest cliffs around Arx for some inspiration. If they want to pet his cat... Well, good luck. Day after that, he'll just sit in the center of the Orphanage and talk about all the past battles he's been apart of to whoever wants to hear some monstrous and heroic tales. You get the gist!
He'll continue on doing similar acts through the whole month. He wants to hear these kid's tales, where they came up from and where they wanna go in life. Maybe, just maybe, he can offer them something that'll help them along the way. And in the meantime, he'll make their life a little more fun with and make a good memory they can visit when times are tough. Hey, a little fatherly experience on the side won't hurt either, right?

Word filters out of the Lowers - apparently, a certain large Thraxian High Lord was spotted, in the month leading up to the battles in the Mourning Sea, taking orphans around town. Some were treated to a fine meal. Others to a few lessons in combative survival. Others to various Shrines, the beach and bay - one lucky orphan even got to sail on the Red Serpent for an hour or two. For the most part, High Lords seem to be too busy to take time to personally interact with orphans but whatever his reasoning, he's making time to reach out and show he cares a little more about those poor orphans and encourage them in their paths, whatever those paths are. Most of Thrax is a little confused by this, but Victus seems not to care. "The softer side of Thrax isn't a thing," they tell their High Lord. "Fuck it, I do what I want," Victus says right back. Of course, since this information filters through Arx after the actions in the Mourning Sea, Thrax nobles are mollified - given the fierce fighting of their High Lord and the temporary High Admiral of the Compact's Fleet, perhaps he's not too soft after all.
