Description: Tall and solidly-built, Stanley is the sort of man who, if asked directions, looks as though he'd pick up the plough to point the way, horses and all. No longer a young man, he moves with the confidence of someone who's gained respect and seniority among his own and the world around him, confident of his place in the world, in a stoic sort of fashion.

Personality: Sir Stanley is one of those more-or-less unhurried people who mostly watches the world go by and gossips while he's at it - although he has learned to keep the topics of gossip to where they're appropriate. What happened in the marketplace is fair game, but the man who visits the Knight-Sergeant when he's off shift, that's for King's Own ears only. His nature, sharing the things he knows, makes him something of a teacher - and, perhaps a legacy of his youth, he's very good at working out what's a genuine emergency and what isn't, and sees no reason to stir himself for someone else's lack of planning.

Background: Sir Stanley was born a peasant's son, and he grew up learning the trade of barrel-making from his father, the village cooper. When bandits came to the village he hid, but when his lord's men came to take the bandits on, Stanley pointed the way, then promptly stole his father's old spear, took the village's plough-horse, and followed on. There's no way that a cooper's son with no training should have been able to turn the tide of a small battle - but he did, and he won himself a place with the Baron's armsmen.

It was soon apparent that Stanley was destined for more. He took to an armsman's training with such panache that within weeks he was sparring with the Baron's daughter and heir; on realising the nature of the young man, the Baron gave him a knight's training, with the idea that Stanley would be his daughter's protector. Sir Stanley excelled, until the point at which the Baron's heir died of a sudden fever. Shortly after the Baron's lord summoned her banners, and Stanley marched with the host. During the first of several battles Stanley came to the eye of one of the King's Own, and a month or so later - after several more fights - Stanley found himself offered a place with the Silver Swords.

And that's where Stanley has served for the last thirty years, rising slowly through the ranks.

Name Summary
Ainsley I think I like him. Dedicated, wise, and a little funny.
Medeia He's a member of the King's Own, and so I feel inclined to help him, but I'm confused. Probably need more rest.
