Description: This man could easily be mistaken for Oathlander nobility with his golden hair, eyes as blue as the sky, and fair skin that's been slightly bronzed by time spent in the sun. He's cleanshaven, which highlights how boyish his features are, as do the smiles that come easily to his face. His hair is kept short, but not too short, enough to style it into a wave that tends to get mussed up by helmet hair. While his upbeat attitude makes it easy to forget this man is a soldier, his broad shoulders, tall frame, the callouses on his hands and the bruises on his knuckles are telltale signs of his vocation. The harsh scar that splits an eyebrow and cuts through his right cheek is another.

Personality: Padraig is entirely too kind. This kindness makes it easy to take advantage of him. He's generous, selfless, brave. The stories you hear about Oathlander knights sometimes stray from the reality, but it doesn't for Padraig. He's the embodiment of the stereotype. He wishes to be a hero. He wants to be remembered. Sometimes his ambition and his virtue clash, but virtue wins the day when it does. The only way to know if he acts this way to those who are close to him, if this is all a mask, is to take your chances and try and get there.

Background: Padraig was just some peasant boy raised in the Oathlands. Naturally, this means the boy wanted to become a knight. He wasn't very strong, tough, or fast. Many of the other children who grew up in his little village would have been better prospects. The people of the village were realists, but one day when some hedge knight rode into town looking for a squire, it was Padraig who wanted it, more than any of the other boys. The knight spoke to the parents, and Padraig found himself a knight's apprentice.

It was a dream come true.

This hedge knight wasn't a very reputable man, however, nor was he a wealthy one. Entirely forgettable, despite being no stranger to battle, the hedge knight was an idealist who sharpened Padraig's ideals of chivalry, honor and other such absurd virtues to a razor-edge. Sure, he taught Padraig more practical skills, handling a sword not least among them, but it was the promise of being a hero that kept Padraig's determination soaring.

A few dozen battles later and the hedge knight who made Padraig a man ended up on the wrong side of a shav's sword. Padraig himself survived the battle, was knighted for his efforts and made his way into Oakhaven, where he swore his sword to the Keaton family. One can only hope Padraig's unending idealism and compassion isn't swept away in these dark times.

Relationship Summary

  • Veronica - My Lady
  • Name Summary
Anisha Sir Padraig Shieldarm - a strong name, for a strong character. I don't necessarily mean physically - though of course, he's a knight, so he's no weakling. More, a character that shines through. Humble, loyal, and quick to speak up for his friends. And with the most charming rural manner that you can find nowhere but the Oathlands.
Dianna Handsome and fresh as as a dew-kissed morn. I'd say 'pure as the driven snow,' but gods know I despise the snow, and he's so much more enjoyable.
Mabelle A pleasant Knight with a strong family name. Seems he has earned it.
Reigna A knight of Oakhaven, courteous, chivalrous and polite. Would that more were like him. Proud to have him here.
Tescelina It is not the strength of bearing nor the arms of which I judge knights. His sincerity reveals a goodness and his burdens reveal a kind heart. The only flaw, I found, was his naivety in regard to tea. As his new friend I shall amend this, personally.
Thea A humble man, which is nice to see. I'm sure I'll be seeing more of him.
Veronica Loyal, polite, deferential - my exact opposite, but for his undying quest to ensure justice.
